Waynesville/Asheville has become our favorite place to run away for the weekend. We typically stay in Waynesville and trek to Asheville for eats...this time we just hung out in Waynesville. I read the reviews for The Sweet Onion, so it was the first stop we hit. AND WHAT A HIT! I haven't had such a good meal in a restaurant... More

Four of us ate at this great restaurant. All of the staff was very friendly. We arrived at 11:30 am and were seated immediately. When we left there was a crowd forming. The menu offered something for everyone, and they had daily specials too. Our server, Danielle, was very efficient and helpful. Our drinks were never empty and warm biscuits... More

Excellent food, good service and a cozy window seat, with windows that will slide open in nice weather. Very enjoyable lunch. Oh, and we loved the art by a local artist. Would have gone back the next day for Valentine's Day dinner but it was booked up.

Great food. This is a high end restaurant where you don't necessarily have to spend a fortune. You could get shrimp and grits (which are top notch) for $22 or a ribeye for a little more, or you could get a great hamburger, country fried steak, meatloaf, or other plates for under $15. I've never had anything here that wasn't... More

Well it's probably the best in town, but that's not saying much. Short ribs yummy and render but that's the sugar in the sauce. Grilled shrimp? Better doing it myself at home

Make a reservation during the busier times of the year. Always excellent food. Made fresh and plenty offered. Somewhat pricey, but worth it depending on what you order.

One of Waynesville's most popular restaurants for lunch and dinner. Make a reservation--you will need it!

The Sweet Onion is one of a kind. Every time I've had the privilege of eating there, I've had great food. Normally you have to wait to get seated but I was seated immediately. I ordered the special of the day which was an open roast beef sandwich smothered with cheese and it was delicious. Truly a gem in Waynesville.
