I really enjoy the San Juan Cafe, both for the food and atmosphere. It does remind me more of places I have eaten at in the Caribbean than most other places in town. Had the fish tacos once (very good), and short ribs the last time. They were good but not great. Margaritas were very good!

First the ambience, the music was Jazz not even Caribbean music. Then when we ordered the food, the waitress did not know chicharrones were which is a typical fried pork that is used for mofongo. Then we were told we could not have a Cuban sandwich or mofongo it was either or. Then we got burnt food, not even oyr... More

I came here after ready some good reviews and I have to say that I can't be more disappointed. They call this place San Juan Cafe and sell it as authentic puertorican food and in all honesty, my German Rotweiler has more puertorican in his paws than this place. It feel so American that I wanted to leave. I asked... More

My fiancee and I just ate dinner here tonight. We were not particularly hungry having just returned from a trip to New Hampshire. We decided to come here before going home. I ordered Steak Mofongo and she ordered Ropa Vieja. The portions were more like a lunch size portion for both dishes with inadequate amounts of meat. This was very... More

They were a nice crew of people, in a well decorated restaurant but I asked for their soups and they said they have one meat and one vegetarian. Then when my friend ordered the vegetarian meal and soup, they found it contained PORK! There has to be a local problem with why everyone slips pork into meals on people, but... More

Wonderful food and atmosphere and the waitstaff was very friendly. Stopped in with some friends and we had delicious fried mashed plantains and an order of fried calamari for appetizers. I enjoyed the Lechon Asado and my wife liked her San Juan tacos. I had a margarita that cost almost as much as my entree (so beware!) but it was... More

We stopped by this cafe as it had been advertised to have Venezuelan food, but after taking a quick look at the menu, there was none. Slightly disappointed, we still ordered our food. The service was nice, as the server was friendly. A must stop while in Wilmington? Only if you super crave your beans and rice, otherwise opt for... More
