We are fans of the Rankins and made a point of going for lunch here. Nice restaurant but it would have been nice to have more memorabilia of the family and maybe cd's to buy. The food was good and Jasmin was very nice to...More

My husband was determined to stop here for lunch after a good friend of ours highly suggested. His buddy travels to the east coast regularly and always raves about this venue and so we did our best to make it. It was a bit out...More

We stopped here overnight because of the reputation of the Red Shoe. We had heard about the ceilidhs there (the ceilidh trail is part of Cape Breton and it is Gaelic for a great Celtic music romp). We didn't know that they only have a...More

When we arrived at the Pub it was crowded and we opted to sit on the patio till a table was available. The owner came out and sat with us for a while, so warm and friendly! The food was amazing, try the seafood chowder....More

We had been to the Red Shoe Pub several times in the past but hadn't been in quite some time. Decided on the spur of the moment to go on a Saturday - phoned ahead and were told to come around 6 to be assured...More

The Red Shoe is a must-stop even if you don't feel like stopping. We pulled in for a cocktail after a long drive, and my friends from "away" loved the noisy fiddling fun of it all. The chowder was creamy, salty and delicious and we...More

Recommended by friends, Red Shoe did not disappoint. the food was very nice and the music (fiddle and piano) was concert quality and went on for 3 hours! We shut the place down with only 4 other people. Not to be missed if you're anywhere...More

I expected to love the music and be ok with food. Instead I loved the food and found the acoustics to be poor.

If you like authentic Cape Breton/Celtic music, the Red Shoe is the ONLY place to go. You don't go there for the crowds and noise -- which can be overwhelming in the summer; you don't go there because the food is exceptional -- just good,...More

We had a good dinner here, and listened to some great music while dining. I would definitely make this a stop.

I don't believe they take reservations. When there's music, I'd suggest you arrive an hour before the performance begins because the main room fills up quickly. The Red Shoe also has a nice covered patio area where you can... More

We stumbled accross this place this past Saturday, which was the day after it had opened for the season. They are only open from June until October. It is very quaint, and it has the very best seafood chowder of anyplace we found in Nova Scotia or PEI. The waiter was super nice to our group, and honest in admitting he had only started the day before, and hadn't tried all the items on the menu yet. He went back to the chef on a couple of occasions to ask if he could change a menu item for us (which they did), and was very attentive to our lunchtime needs. This is a really good restaurant and should be added to Trip Advisor. Thanks, John Ward Smith
