The Krazy Lobster is the largest of the beachfront bars/restaurants lining the Malecon in Mahahual. They reel you in with 5 for $5 buckets of small bottles of beer, which is a pretty good price for a tourist area, hoping you'll buy the more pricey food (mostly seafood). We only had drinks, but I spoke to several people who did eat and they said the food was pretty good. The service was friendly, the beer and other drinks were cold, they left us to hang out on the chairs and hammocks and didn't harass us to buy any more than we wanted. Like all the other beachside places, they have people to chat you up as you walk by to get you in. Don't be intimidated, just say no thanks if not interested, and if you are, just ask them some details. It was a positive, enjoyable few hours on the beach, I would definitely come by again if we are ever back to Mahahual. As a side note, please make sure you tip your servers, they survive on those tips alone in most cases.

First off the me start by warning you not to go anywhere but here! We got off a cruise ship and got ripped off by a shady operator who lead us to believe The Krazy Lobster was by reservation only. He directed us to a restaurant when you first enter off the parking lot or taxi drop area. Don’t waste your time. Keep walking until you get to the Krazy Lobster! The staff here was top notch. There were ladies offering massages in this area for $20! (as in other areas along your walk). The tables for eating or drinking are shaded and on the beach or a few steps to the water. There are SO MANY TABLES don’t worry about not having a reservation, it’s not necessary!! There are chairs on the beach to tan, There are kayaks and life vests to use or you can swim and snorkel the reef, and there are waiters and attendants on the beach to take care of you. The kids enjoyed rocking in the hammocks and kayaking. The food was awesome and the buckets of small beers was a perfect way to sample various Mexican beers. We enjoyed our visit here and will be sure to return on future trips.

Stopped in for a snack and to enjoy the beach. We were the only people there. After 45 minutes our guacamole and nacho still had not arrived and we had not seen our waiter in a while. Flagged down another server and asked for the bill so we could leave and go someplace else. Waiter appeared in a panic and promised our food would be right out. Came out in 5 minutes and I asked for the bill. They gave me a bill that was 30% over the prices on the peso menu I ordered off of. Told me "shippers" paid more. Told the people Where I was staying about it and they said this place was notorious for that. Lots of places on the beach to eat and enjoy. Might want to choose one of them

We came in by cruise ship and rented electric bikes for the day to get to and from the port to old town Mahahual. We had heard of the Krazy Lobster and were going to pass it up because it was so tourist but after riding by it several times we decided to give it a go. It looked like they had some of the best shade along the beach to enjoy a lunch ocean side on a hot day, as well as nice looking loungers in case we decided to rest after lunch. The food was pretty good. We had shrimp nachos and their drinks were well priced and made premium! Service was not the quickest but it is as they say, "island time". They do not ever make you feel rushed which made it very relaxing. The downside, you are swarmed with vendors approaching you every couple minutes trying to sell you something. Just say no thank you and it's all good, but there will be another for sure. Enjoy!

My family and I wanted to get off of our cruise and go to a beautiful beach without having to pay the crazy cruise excursion prices. We walked out of the main shopping port and spoke to the taxi drivers. We told them we wanted a nice beach, period. For $4 a person and less than a 10-minute drive, we pulled up to THE KRAZY Lobster. When we saw the beach we were so happy. There is seaweed but they take care of it and block it off so that it does not pile up on the beach and it does not affect you at all. Javier gave us the best drinks, the BEST quesadillas (outstanding...I want some now!) and just the best genuine smile ever. We kayaked, swam in the beautiful ocean and lounged by the water, all with smiles on our faces. My two teenagers (who are hard to please) loved this place so much, we didn't want to leave!!! Make sure to shop across from the Krazy Lobster because they have beautiful items to buy at great prices. The town is safe and so welcoming. Cabs are waiting right on the side of the restaurant and we had the best drivers. Please come here and support this beautiful town, and beautiful restaurant. Every time we come to Mahahual (Costa Maya) we are coming here!! You will not be disappointed. Thank you, Javier, thank you Mauricio, and thank you to all the staff at The Krazy Lobster!

We had SO much fun at Krazy Lobster! The locals are a little pushy at all the restaurants to get you to sit down but this is how they make an income. So if you’re going to plan ahead on where to go this is the spot!!! $2 Coronas ($1 for the 6oz.) and great deals on food. We had the chicken tacos and fish tacos and both were excellent. The beach front is beautiful with clear blue water and lots of lounge chairs and tables. Javier took great care of us and made our trip unforgettable!!!

Our cruise ship brought us to this port and we unfortunately spent most of our time at the shops/bars recommended by the cruise staff. Skip all of that and go downtown for the authentic restaurants, like The Krazy Lobster, a $20 hour long massage on the beach, and the best Mexican art around. It only costs $4 per person for the shuttle or a private taxi cab for $8. Viva Mexico!

Highly recommend the Krazy Lobster. Cannot be booked through the cruise ship excursion but is a short walk from the beach getaways. We got the calamari, whole fried fish, beef tacos, lobster, and coconut shrimp all for around $85.

We have been to the Krazy Lobster a half dozen times and look forward to many, many more. Without question, this is the best option for a cruise ship visit to Costa Maya. Food and drinks are excellent and fairly priced. They serve the finest coconut shrimp I have ever eaten. Guacamole and chips are one of our favorites, too. Drinks are generous and cost less than the ship or the pier area. You are only a few steps from a nice beach, lots of shaded tables, hammocks, kayaks, all at no charge. WiFi internet is available at no charge. Look for the sign posted with the password. (Just order some food and drink.) Excellent one hour massages are available for $20. Taxi to Krazy Lobster costs $4/person (for 2 or more people). The owner and serving staff will do everything they can to make your visit memorable. (Special "hello" to Gabriel, Angel, and Luli)

Had been to Costa Maya few years ago but wasn't sure of using the beach area and restaurants. Researched and heard good things about Krazy Lobster. Low pressure and only paid for what we ate and drank and no fees for using chairs, etc. Clean beach, nice chairs, covered tables and toilets and simple outdoor shower to rinse off in. Had some drinks, simple but decent price. Tried lobster, wasn't bad but could be bigger. Kids had chicken tenders, decent amount. Overall would go back now that I know how it works.

I read great reviews so made this our beach day while our cruise ship stopped at costa maya. $2 PER PERSON CAB FAIR from Costs Maya to Mahahlau . (10 min ride) walked out of port to main street for best pricing. No crowds on the beach . Facilities are free as long as you get food and drink. Sun or shade is available. 30 minutes massages are $10 or $20 for 1 hour. Service was excellent and beach was lovely. Shopping is right there on the pedestrian street. Loved the fish tacos. Portions were large. Someone had a lobster for $ 25 and enjoyed it!

We had been to Costa Maya recently (before this trip) on a Carnival Cruise out of galveston and took a sponsored beach excursion, which was for a flat fee (right up the road for a $59 fee per person. We were not pleased with that excursion because we felt we got watered down drinks. When we were on a return trip our head waiter recommended "The Crazy Lobster Beach Resort". We rented a golf cart and explored around town before ending up at this resort. We greeted by parties which offered to park our golfcart for free and set us up with a table on the beach, with free introductory Margaritas for our group of 10, We had quacamole, nachos, quesadillas, and coconut shrimp, all for minimal fee. The drinks were tasty and recommended. They also had good specials on buckets of beer. They provided loungers on the beach and hammocks around the resort in which to relax. The beach was also nice. We will be returning on our next trip to Costa Maya.

When you are different country traveling during a pandemic, it is hard sometimes to find a place to eat that you can trust. But when we found out about this place, " The Krazy Lobster" in Mahahual. We love coming back for more! We met Mauricio on the first day we ate at this place. I believed he is the owner. He always friendly and know what he is doing in the Food business. We got a really nice service from Dimitri, Alex, and the team. Our family can't speak Spanish and they helped out a lot on ordering the foods and drinks. Service here was quick, friendly, and very attentive. The staff here is wearing the mask all the time and always keeps this place clean. I highly recommend this place. This place is good for all ages, Please come and try it yourself! Again, Krazy Lobster is crazy AWESOME!

We arrived on the ship and took a taxi to Mahahual. Easy to get to and you can pick up the taxis outside the port shopping area ($4 per person). Arrived in the small town which has a great boardwalk filled with beaches, shops and restaraunts. A lovely spot to spend the day. We decided to go to The Krazy Lobster. Met Mauricio Berzunza de Garry ( Manager) who was excellent. His team found us a great table on the beach ( 2 ft from the water). If you love traditional, down to earth spots with great service and food. Would highly recommend. We had 5 beer for $5, and were given a free margarita when we arrived. Tacos were delicious and again service was great. Shout out to Sam I Am as well who we met at the restaraunt. Finally, you can get a massage on the beach at the restaraunt for $10. Overall very inexpensive and wonderful afternoon. Would definately return.
