Gusto is a gorgeous little restaurant in Amersham. Alan cooks incredible food - we had divine pork belly tacos (scrumptious, full of flavour) and crispy calamari to start. And then both were tempted by Alan to try his incredible slow cooked pressed lamb - meltingly...delicious lamb on a bed of braised red cabbage (in no less than 4 different vinegars) with dauphinois potatoes. Incredible. One of the best meals we’ve had in a looooooong time. All matches with a lovely GAVI and Alan’s explanations of ingredients and process. Would fully recommend this for couples and friends. We went for dinner but will be tempted to come back for the lunch time menu and brunch! Menu choice was excellent and good value for money. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and the service great too. Allan gives a friendly personal service and couldn’t fault anything. 10/10 would definitely recommend and return.

When you visit a restaurant you expect good good. Gusto gives you this in abundance! Not just good but excellent food. What’s more the owner here is present in the restaurant serving and making sure everything is ok, not in an overbearing way, a nice...way. We will definitely visit again. The owner tells us that if we want something which is not on the menu he will make it if you give him a week’s notice. That is some gesture. Gusto is without doubt one of our most favourite restaurants in Amersham. Whilst the setting is simple the food that Allan Himowicz, the owner serves, is stunning. We have always had great meals and the value is exceptional. Last night eight of us had two...courses, some having three, six bottles of wine and all for £110 per couple including a tip. Allan has cooked in many venues, including the Dorchester, and his skill and love of food shows through in the quality and presentation of the food he serves. Last night we had a variety of dishes, the calamari, tacos, risotto, burrata, crab pasta, to mention a few, and every meal was exceptional. Allan's motto is this is, "Your Restaurant," so you desire tacos as a main meal, then you can have them. His wine selection his excellent and he does not charge a fortune which is what many restaurants do. Allan has sound Covid safety procedures in place and we need to get out and support our local restaurants. Allan is thinking of moving the bar to the back of the restaurant to enable the big bi-fold front doors to be used more in the Summer to open up the restaurant and allow it to flow into the outside eating space. We will definitely be eating outside on a warm Summer's evening. We love Gusto and it is our responsibility to get out and support Allan. He is a charming host, always seeking to attend to what is required to deliver a lovely and friendly dining experience. We highly recommend Gusto and the great thing is, after our share of six bottles of wine, we can walk home.More
