Went for dinner last Friday and they very kindly put a television on for us to watch the England game in the rugby world cup, which was beyond the call of duty! A few people did watch it but more people would have been a...better atmosphere. The pub was generally very quiet for a Friday night, which was odd. However the food was absolutely delicious and I will definitely be going back. The "Duck breast & spring roll" main course was very good and we had an amazing chocolate desert.More

We visited this pub with friends and our dogs for Sunday lunch and because the weather was so excellent we sat in the gorgeous garden of the pub. The roast beef and Yorkshire pudding was absolutely superb with the beef melting in your mouth. The...desserts were excellent as was the wonderfully charming service from Diana. I could not recommend this pub more particularly after a lovely walk with our dogs in Penn Wood.More

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast beef sitting outside in this very pretty picturesque pub garden with all the trimmings - we particularly liked the extra vegetables option on the menu with no extra charge as we do like a lot of...veg on the side!! The beef was extremely tender and our overall experience was relaxed and enjoyable, the staff were very welcoming, polite and provided a good service. A huge improvement from last year which was so nice as this is a delightful pub full of character, we will definitely return.More

Just when I thought the level of food couldn’t get any higher, it did. Fantastic meal… I invited some friends who also loved the experience and are both true foodies. 10/10 and will be back very soon

A stunning public house which on arriving gives off the right vibes. Enjoyed a lovely meal which was helped by the wonderful service supplied by Alyssa who not only poured our drinks but served our meals. She could not have been more helpful and friendly...which added greatly to our enjoyment. I only wished I lived nearer to this wonderful pub! By the way the beers not bad either!More

We have just come home from an evening meal at the Hit or Miss in Penn Street. Excellent food. The pub’s food wasn’t so good a while ago but is tasty, fresh and beautifully cooked now. We have been going there for many years and...think of it as our local and favourite pub. Very friendly place. Staff always so helpful (esp Philip who wasn’t there tonight). Thank you Hit Or Miss.More

Lovely pub with superb food. Eloise is warm, welcoming and attentive. Very charming and looked after us throughout the meal. A lovely team along with Megan and Jess. New menu that includes delicious pizzas was excellent.

We live locally and have been here many times and enjoyed it but it has really improved of late in so many areas. The menu is the right size to make you confident it’s that it’s freshly prepared and local but has options for everyone...and the food we had on our last visit was quick to arrive and really good. Nicely kept real ales, good wine choices and a genuine, friendly team made it a very pleasurable afternoon. The pub is in a lovely location with a pretty garden and patio area opposite cricket fields in the village so perfect for a relaxing drink or meal in the sun over summer, but they have also redecorated the restaurant area inside. Whilst not disastrous before this looks 100% better now and great for more of a sit down 3 course meal or celebration. We’ll definitely be back, hopefully soon 😊More

This is my most favourite pub/restaurant. Why? All the staff are so welcoming and I have to say that Diana, Phillip and Eloise are just the best. The food is superb and so is the ambience. Great location deep in the beautiful Bucks countryside. Definitely...worth a visit..More

Really good food and nice traditional pub. Between us we tried the roast beef and sea bass and both were excellent. Service was slow but it was worth the wait and the staff were doing their best it was just a busy Sunday (Father’s Day!)

Great place to stop and have lunch on a sunny Bank Holiday Monday. The beef, rocket and horseradish sandwich was sublime! Thick granary bread, delicious beef and horseradish to blow your socks off! Thoroughly recommend it.

food took more than an hour to be served. We asked and they said they would check, waited, nothing, asked again and instead apologising, we were told they had a big table to serve before ours. Not good. we will no go there again. Food...was ok.More

Decided to give the Hit& Miss a visit as we had not been there since Covid, when the food was excellent. We went on Saturday evening (15th) on the spur of the moment and although busy, they managed to fit us in. I have quite...a few food intolerances, many of which are used regularly in dishes. The waitress was very helpful and the chef accommodated me. We shared tempura vegetables which were piping hot. I had the Venison fillet and it was delicious bonus being able to eat without fear of repercussions. It was great to have a tasty alternative to fish or chicken. I could only have the sorbets and chose banana & lychee both of which were homemade and you could really taste the fruit. All in all a lovely meal and a welcoming atmosphere and very good service.. We will definitely go back.More
