Today was our Thirtieth Wedding Anniversary.
We decided that rather than go to anywhere we had been before, we would try somewhere new. My wife found and booked the Potter's Arms.
It was out of our area and we decided we could have a little...trip out.
It was a great choice.
On arrival we were met by a young lady named Lauren who showed us to our reserved table.
That's when life started to get difficult - what to choose from the menu?
There were so many choices it was difficult to decide, but I can assure you that whatever you would have chosen, it would have been cooked to perfection.
To start with I had Bubble and Squeak with poached egg and Hollandaise sauce. It was like a breakfast immediately before lunch!
I followed that with a Steak and Ale pie, for which they kindly swapped the vegetables for me, leaving me with a main of my making.
Full to the brim, I had to ask for dessert to be delayed a while. When I did finally feel able to go for it, it was delicious. I had poached pear in a star anise and red wine sugar syrup.
It was a great trip to somewhere we had never been before and it was perfect. Lauren looked after us with a delightful "whatever you want" attitude.
We have been, we have seen, we will return.More
