We were seated quickly after waiting at the front for our reserved table. Hosting from both of the waitresses was spot on, they were attentive but not clingy and both followed covid 19 regs with face shield or mask on.
My friend and I opted for the same pizza which really did test our metal - it..was...HOT! We ended up coaching each other to finish it off, plus it was a generous portion great value for money. The chili's were punishing!
Thanks to the waitress who provided life support with a jug of ice cold water, even offering us milk as well!
We'll definitely come back but will probably order a jug of milk next time!

Since lockdown allowed us to start enjoying takeaways again we were recommended The Potters Arms for Sunday roast... WOW Sunday’s will never be the same! This was the best Roast dinner we have had, it was dinner for 4, and opted for the Roast Lamb and a whole chicken, which were cooked to perfection everything from the giant homemade Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, veg and that gravy was all truly delicious!!
Having been in a few times since I enquired about having my husband’s 50th celebrations at The Potters Arms, obviously times are very different right now so no large parties can be help anywhere, after meeting with the owners and manager we had something in place. They allowed me to have a small group of close friends and family.
Having Bi- folding doors inside the bar we were able to have a sectioned off area separate from other customers, along with a separate area out on the terrace so all social distancing was in place.
I was able to put up a few decorations and any ideas or requests I had they always found a way to make it as special as possible whilst sticking to the COVID guidelines! Nothing was too much trouble!
We had an amazing selection of canapés being offered around during the evening which went down well with everyone.
The staff were all amazing and a credit to the pub making everyone welcome and comfortable.
THANK YOU for making this night so special and as amazing as it was especially during these strange times.
Family came from Cornwall so they stayed in the guest rooms Upstairs and gave such lovely compliments about their stay.
I would highly recommend The Potters Arms for any reason from a midweek lunch, Sunday roast or a special occasion.

We had a very enjoyable evening meal with family at The Potters Arms in July 2021. The table booking process online was very easy, we were given a nice round table for the 6 of us which was really good so we could chat and nobody felt left out. There was no space in the car park but was still plenty of parking out on the village green, the service was good, food tasty and good value compared to some other pubs locally. A good choice of dishes including Thai options, the place seemed very popular, also a good choice of beers especially several well kept real ales - the place is in the Good Beer Guide.
We had between us the Chicken Caesar Salad, sausage and mash, risotto, sea bass, burger and a pie and all were excellent, the chips being particularly good. The desserts were also very good - sticky toffee pudding and Mr Whippy ice cream! Staff were friendly and helpful.
Only thing we noticed that detracted a little was there were quite a lot of flies flying around in the bar so it might be worth them getting one of those blue light things behind there to get rid of them.
We had a very nice family meal here and would definitely return.

Visited with family. lovely looking pub inside and out. lovely welcoming fire and space. Food was disappointing and to me overpriced, largely because a service charge was added on top of the advertised price on the menu. Made it not value for money. Food came out and lacked accepted temperature. Staff were not customer friendly when a food issue was raised. Car park was a nightmare with other patrons almost blocking in cars. Social distancing was un heard of. No wonder Buckinghamshire is in Tier 4! Would I return here again - NO NO NO!

We have been to the Potters Arms 5 times in 3 months and each time had the fish and chips. On the first 3 occasions it was excellent - a large portion of fish in a light crispy tempura style batter and very good chunky chips. But the last 2 times it has gone badly downhill. When we had it in late February it was still a large portion of fish but the batter was thick, heavy and oily and the chips were undercooked and quite hard in the middle. We had to scrape the fish out of the batter and leave massive chunks of it on the side of our plates. Now we are wondering if it is worth the risk going back. We would like to hear from others who have had the fish and chips recently about their experience.

I have eaten here a few times in the past couple of months and have generally been pleased with the staff & the food. So when the family wanted to eat lunch out on Boxing Day I thought it was worth a visit.
Sadly I was very mistaken; the calamari was very good as a starter but the sausage & mash was appalling. Firstly the gravy was congealed on the plate, the mash was cold but worse the mash appeared to have been made from a packet & poorly made.
We sent it back but it was returned with hot mash, still tasting awful and swimming in gravy.
In desperation we asked for some chips & persevered.
The fish & chips consisted mostly of batter!
Is Boxing Day an excuse, I don’t think so.

The outside seating area is lovely but unfortunately as I was unable to get through on the phone I had to make an online table booking, there was no option to book outside specifically and on arrival we were asked to go inside.
Food was ok but service was very, very slow. 1st course took a looong time, then later when we mentioned we were still waiting for our desserts (children were fed up of waiting) we were told ‘well if you ordered them then they will be on their way’. Unfortunately they weren’t and we eventually we had to ask again to get them.
Shame it all took such a long time as the place we were planning to visit closes at 4pm and we missed it having travelled from quite far away..
Also, dirty toilets..
On the plus side quite a varied choice of food.

Thank you very much for your review. I am deeply upset we didn`t provide you with our usual great service. As you can imagine we have had to change our way of working completely since lock down. We have had to take on and train up many new staff to cope with the increase in business not only outside but inside too.
Clearly when asking about your desserts that is not the response I would have expected and I will be speaking to all staff making sure that they go straight away and chase up food that is taking a long time. Pre lockdown I was able to monitor the service a lot easier but with a bigger footprint with our huge outside area and trying to cook Pizzas at the same time I am finding it difficult.
We did have a higher than normal number of children in today and one of my team had to fish a face mask out the toilet as we are only too aware how important it is to make sure the toilets are clean.
If you can call me on the main pub number I would like to offer you a gesture of good will as I can understand how annoying it must have been to have missed your visit.
Kind Regards,
Richard

Celebrated my birthday party at The Potters Arms in February and it was a huge success. Nothing was too much trouble from choosing welcome drinks, changing the menu slightly to suit all tastes to include vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options, a Thai twist, cheeseboard and fruit platter. Very friendly, efficient staff worked throughout the evening ensuring prosecco glasses were topped up and more than ample, delicious food provided. The party space worked really well with our jazz band and everyone enjoyed a fun evening. A thank you to Richard for ensuring every detail was taken care of and the whole evening ran smoothly. Highly recommend.

Visited recently with 6 adults and 2 children. Soup starter for children had masses of pepper and was way too hot them, the adults who tried it passed as unacceptable.
A mixed platter starter was very poor, bulked up with prawn crackers to make it look more substantial, we were not fooled, £12.95 charged, £0.75 value, satisfaction level 0.
Main course included 3 pizzas 2 of which where overcooked and not enjoyable, 1 out of 5, 1 was ok, 2 out of 5.
2 Cajun chickens had no flavour and where as dry as a bone, not acceptable.
Our feelings were communicated to the proprietor but he was about as interested as the Manikin De Pis.
Recommendation, stay in and have a round of toast, you will be far less disappointed.

Thank you very much for your review, I am really sorry that you didn`t enjoy your meal with us. The soup was totally our fault and wasn`t conveyed to us that it was a spicy vegetable soup. The Cajun Chickens, I am sorry that they were dry as a bone, although you did ask for them with Sauce on the side so yes I can see why they would have had no flavour. However it does appear that we have got it wrong since lock down. We have opened up again having built a lovely terrace bar to try and make everything more covid secure, but whereas most pubs and restaurants have opened up again with a limited menu we have infact added to our offering. In effect we are trying to run before being able to walk especially with the huge increase in business with the eat out to help out scheme.
I am sorry you didn`t enjoy the food and I am sorry that you felt I didn`t deal with it to your satisfaction although I had removed both Cajun Chickens from the bill for you.

Came in for lunch in early January. Lots of options including Thai but I went for a sandwich and my parents each had a panini all served with some of the best chips I’ve had in ages. Good quick service, great food with lots of options. Will be returning!

I know times have been hard. But when you want to support your local traders you also want them to offer you good quality service in return. First warning sign there there are 3 menus . PIZZA, Thai, and what looked like a good gastro pub menu.

Thank you for your review, I feel that someone may have been watching too much Gordon Ramsey during lockdown, we spent our entire bounceback loan building and equipping our amazing terrace bar so in effect we have 2 kitchens and thus can offer these different cuisines.
You say you want to support local traders but this was our first week back after 3 months of not serving customers and which turned out to be the busiest week I have had in over 9 years at this pub. We had an issue with the table numbers on two of our tables which was sorted out the very next day, but this was not the fault of my staff but myself.
In terms of pork belly bites I am not sure what you were expecting but if you prefer them fatty and slimey then this isn`t the place for you.
I am not sure you can blame me for your digestion problems either. I can`t be held resposible for the amount of pork & fried chips you decide to order and eat before bed.
Of course we didn`t get everything right on our first week back but if you want to support local business you should take into account that they are trying their best in very challenging circumstance and let them know of any issues at the time rather than going home and giving them a bad review.

Visited the Potters Arms on Sunday for a roast dinner with my boyfriend and can safely say it is the best roast dinner we have had in a pub. The roast potatoes had so much flavour, the Yorkshire pudding was definitely home-made as well as the gravy. Great choice of vegetables, offering a huge variety. Service was fantastic, we were greeted by a lovely man who showed us to our table. We recognised that they offer both slush puppies and Mr whippy ice creams for the children which we thought was a lovely touch even though we don’t have children ourselves yet!! Couldn’t recommend this place enough, especially for a Sunday lunch! If you are lucky enough to have sunshine like we were this afternoon, you can even sit outside in the lovely decorated garden area. Give this place a try, you won’t regret it!

Fantastic meal. Been coming here for years and wow the new improvements are great and they’re handling all the COVID restrictions brilliantly - we felt safe despite how busy it was because they had sensible precautions in place.
Great meal - it was a Friday so we had the Thai menu -seriously authentic and delicious.
I must say it’s been so difficult for the hospitality trade in these challenging times and it’s amazing that the Potters Arms has rolled with the punches and that’s obviously down to the owner who is a true publican! He was everywhere and smiling and making sure everything went as smoothly as possible (never easy when dealing with the public). The atmosphere is chilled and relaxing.
This is definitely a favourite place and well worth the drive to come out here.

Been to the Potter Arms a few times now as its a great base for people who want to walk the countryside.
I got chatting to Richard about his menu and he was saying that he's recently started doing homemade pizzas. So I thought I'd challenge him and order a calzone for dinner (not really on the menu).
Richard accepted my challenge and boy was it worth the gamble. It was superb. Tasty and massive, I'm still full now and I got home yesterday!
So if you go, ask for a calzone - tell them that stu sent you!
Again Richard and his team made us feel welcome, having 2 kids and a puppy they really made us feel welcome. Even the locals were chatting to us.
Like a home from home.
See you all again next year at some stage.

A very disappointing visit. After a long wait for our vegan roasts, our plates were just unseasoned boiled veg with overcooked potatoes and stock for gravy. When the waiters collected our still half full plates, there was no checking if everything was okay with the food and charged us in full for our uneaten dinners. Drinks were expensive, staff seemed unenthusiastic. For a beautiful location we really had hoped for better. Would not recommend for food or be returning.
