Disappointing meal. Meat in the pies was tough. Chicken was dry. The duck was good. We had good service, and menus quickly changed when we realised that we had different prices in different menus! We wouldn't have had a pudding but we were on a...Travelzoo meal deal and decided it would be rude not to. Poached pears turned out to be soggy pears in boiling liquid, alongside a quickly melting blob of ice cream. Overall the quality of food was not good enough to temp us back, what a shame.More

We purchased a two course Travelzoo offer last year the food and service were so good we bought another two and have just returned home after and excellent lunch using our second voucher. We had the same Trio of sausages and duck leg with sticky...toffee pudding to follow. Couldn't fault the food delirious and hot and even though they were really busy we didn't have to wait long. The gentleman showing us to our table and the lovely lady serving the food were welcoming and polite. We have another voucher and looking forward to returning next month for more of the same .More

Leisurely Saturday lunch for 4, friendly service, everyone enjoyed their 3 courses, generous portions, we came for a Travelzoo deal but will definitely be back.

Well what a welcome at the Potters Arms, there wasn’t one. We arrived and stood at the bar waiting for someone to acknowledge us but I eventually had to attract someone’s attention. We were on a Travelzoo deal. We were eventually shown to a table...in the “restaurant” and served our Prosecco. I asked if I could exchange mine for a half of beer but was told no. Starters were ok, but it all went Pete Tong with the mains. I had Steak and Ale pie which looked lovely but was stone cold, and I mean straight out of the fridge! It was quickly reheated and wasn’t that bad but how on earth can a “chef” send out a stone cold meal in the first place. My wife’s fish again was ok, what there was of it hidden in the batter. The waitresses were lovely and tried there best, and offered us a free dessert, but the damage was done. There was absolutely no atmosphere in the place and the Manager never showed his face. I can see why they use deals to get people in there.More

Went in a mixed group, 4 who eat meat, 2 pescatarian, 2 vegan. Everybody had an issue. Waited an hour for starters. The balsamic vinegar was 3 drops in a tiny holder and was actually glaze, sweet not acidic. Two dips and it was gone....Humous was cut with something and tasteless. Two tiny bits of hard bread. Asked for more balsamic and it arrived with the next course 35m later. Ribs were out of a packet with a thin watery sauce. The vegan Wellington was a veg slice, NOT a Wellington. Just large strips of steamed carrot/sweet pot. No added flavouring, no base of chopped mushroom etc. Served with more steamed carrots. I ordered roast root veg as a side. And got steamed carrot again. Other's food was mediocre at best. Mentioned the missing root veg to a stoney faced manager who just walked off and never said sorry. Luckily we had a laugh together enjoying the groups company and just wrote off the poor food quality to experience.More

Was looking forward to a lovely meal out with friends however the experience was very disappointing. Our starters took 55 mins to come out. The humous, olive and sourdough starter which was advertised as vg) was unappealing. The humous was watery and tasteless, the olives...were dry and the butter that came with this was not plant-based and there wasn’t any available. The plant based Wellington was uninspiring being simply layered sliced carrot and sweet potato with a puff pastry slice placed on top served with more boiled carrot and very hard broccoli, green beans and barely warm gravy.More

We saw an advert for a 3 course meal for 2 for £30 so we gave it ago. The menu was really good they had a traditional menu and an a la cartè The food was really nice and freshly cooked. The staff were friendly...and gathered the plates sion after we finished. We didn't feel rushed at all. The pub had a great atmosphere They have lots of things going on in the evenings from comedy evenings and live music. They have a small farm shop on site With lots of outside space for the summerMore

Haven't been to the Potters Arms for a few years but after seeing a lunch or dinner deal we decided to have lunch and possibly visit with friends one evening. Loved the outside space and sorry we were going in October and had missed sitting...outside in the summer. The pub feels welcoming and the lovely young lady showed us to our table in the pub area with a cheery smile. Plenty to choose from on the menu and we ordered the trio of sausages and comfit duck leg with sticky toffee pudding to follow. The food was lovely the mains hot and puddings plentiful, the young ladies serving were brilliant and we've already purchased some more meal deals for a speedy return with friends one evening .More

Have visited before and it has been OK but recent visit was very disappointing. Lack of atmosphere in the restaurant area, food took ages to come out and when it did was very average, inexperienced waitresses, not that cheap. Will give it a miss for...a little while.More

Stayed here again for business as I’ve been before and wanted to come back. The staff are great and the food is exceptional. Please don’t ever stop serving the ribs. Amazing!! The rooms are not perfect but are clean, tidy, and have all what’s needed...including free Wi-Fi which works really well. Breakfast food again is very good and I will try to come back again when I’m anywhere near on my travels.More

We were prompted to dine here on the back of a voucher package but everything massively exceeded our expectations. The menu was wide-ranging with some creatively designed dishes and delicious flavours. With a few more decorative twirls it wouldn't have looked out of place on...MasterChef!! We are all foodies and not that easily impressed but WOW! The bubble and squeak starter was served with a hollandaise sauce and looked and tasted heavenly. Fishcake starter also yummy. And we all had different mains which were well presented, generously portioned and delicious. The service was up to the standard of the food. Oh and some interesting wines too... Fortunately we all live nearby so this little gem is set to become a regular haunt. Thank you so much to all the team. Alison and friendsMore

Today was our Thirtieth Wedding Anniversary. We decided that rather than go to anywhere we had been before, we would try somewhere new. My wife found and booked the Potter's Arms. It was out of our area and we decided we could have a little...trip out. It was a great choice. On arrival we were met by a young lady named Lauren who showed us to our reserved table. That's when life started to get difficult - what to choose from the menu? There were so many choices it was difficult to decide, but I can assure you that whatever you would have chosen, it would have been cooked to perfection. To start with I had Bubble and Squeak with poached egg and Hollandaise sauce. It was like a breakfast immediately before lunch! I followed that with a Steak and Ale pie, for which they kindly swapped the vegetables for me, leaving me with a main of my making. Full to the brim, I had to ask for dessert to be delayed a while. When I did finally feel able to go for it, it was delicious. I had poached pear in a star anise and red wine sugar syrup. It was a great trip to somewhere we had never been before and it was perfect. Lauren looked after us with a delightful "whatever you want" attitude. We have been, we have seen, we will return.More

My wife recently organised a surprise special birthday party for me last night, at The potters Arms, which was my first visit there. What a lovely village pub. I have got to say a big thank you to Richard and his team for their hard...work serving 32 people and making the evening very special and memorable. Fantastic food and service to match, starting with canapés, the steak and horseradish were excellent 👍. Also various starters, mains and puddings were enjoyed by all. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. All I can say again, is thank you so much. Kind regards Steve and Rose. p.s. We’ll be back 👍👍👍👍More

As others have said, not in the restaurant but possibly in the bar - call them to check.

Thank you for your enquiry, the garden is enclosed with a fence and two gates, we are right opposite the village green, with a park about 300 metres away if they want to go on swings and slides etc. Kind Regards, Richard
