We have been eating at Il Girasole for many years and always thoroughly enjoy our food. The atmosphere is good, staff friendly and food delicious. My nephew says it's the best pizza and ice cream in the world!

So disappointed!booked for my daughters 12th birthday (she loves Italian food). We arrived at 7.20pm, didn’t get starters until 8.30. Orders a mezzanine and it came without two of the ingredients. We swapped to mix or bruschetta's. It arrived and my daughter pointed out a...long black hair! We called the waitress over and she got the manager who took it away. Dinner came and the pasta dishes didn’t appear to be cooked from fresh. Overall, the wait and then the hair left a poor opinion of the service and food. My daughter didn’t wish to have her cake celebration (extremely disappointed for me as mother). We paid the bill and I fed back to the manager who appeared totally disinterested. We won’t be going back. Thank you il girasol for ruining our daughters birthday dinner!More

Had a lovely birthday dinner with two of our best friends. Wanted it to be somewhere special so we picked Il Girasole. The selection available on the menu was beyond amazing. Ever dish we picked was truly delicious and beautifully cooked. The service was second...to none. We were mostly served by the lovely Monika. A real credit to the establishment and one of the reasons we will definitely be returning at some time. Loved the “vibe” of the place also. Highly recommended!More

We went to Il Girasole in St Neots on Saturday 5th August with our friends, we had a fantastic meal, we all chose something different from the varied menu and food was incredible. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, all the staff were friendly and...happy. Well worth a visit, you won't be disappointed. Well done to Graham the proprietor!!More

Have wanted to go for a meal here in such a long time after seeing pictures on Facebook. Live in St Ives but have never managed to get there until now! Staff were lovely, drinks were great! Food was really nice. Couldn’t fault much, if...I had to be picky, I was trying to avoid too much garlic so was avoiding items on the Menu which said ‘garlic’, went for the gnocchi and it was full of garlic it overpowered it for me, it didn’t say garlic or garlic sauce so I thought I might be safe, but other than that, the food was lovely! Would definitely come back.More

Busy local eatery - and you can see why. Good sensible food - excellent service and friendly atmosphere. Lovely location and easy to park neraby. Good Italian food can be a little "ordinary" but this wasnt - tasty well presented - very good!

Truly excellent. No booking but we were found a very nice table. Excellent friendly team of people who clearly understood 'customer service'. Nice selection of pre-dinner drinks & a short but good wine list. Food choice of both starters and mains was fairly extensive with...things to suit most (if not all) palates. Choices of mains ranged from Pizza, through the usual Bolognaises and Lasagnes, to the exceptional range of Carne and Pesce dishes. Also had a very good short selection of daily specials. Waiting staff were extremely good and the food & drinks delivered everything one could hope for. Prices were well below expectation for this sort of quality, with 3 Starters, 3 Mains, Bottle of Wine plus pre-dinner drinks, all coming-in at £113 For a small 'authentic' Italian one would be stretched to find anywhere better. Indeed, this place was superior to many restaurants I tried in Italy! (& not a red-checked tablecloth in sight). Highly recommended.More

We hadn’t been to Il Girasole for a couple of years after having a couple of bad experiences with the food. We decided to go on Mother’s Day and all really enjoyed our meals, to the point where me and my partner decided to go...back for my birthday. Unfortunately it seemed that our Mother’s Day meal was a fluke and it was back to the disappointing experience we’d had a couple of years back. Firstly I’d sent a booking request by email on Monday but hadn’t heard back so my partner called to make the booking. Only for us to arrive and find they had no record of it. Fortunately it wasn’t a problem and they were able to serve us. Next the service was fairly slow, though appreciate they were busy and the waitresses were very polite. When they took our food order I asked for the gnocchi, only to be told they had none. It would have been helpful to know this before! Our starters arrived and they were ok but both just really lacked flavour. In particular the sauce for the meatballs was watery and lacked any sort of seasoning. Then mains arrived. My partner’s risotto was cold, while my tagliatelle was again lacking in any flavour. It had huge pieces of chicken breast in it (not the mouthful size pieces you’d expect for a pasta dish) which were very dry and completely unseasoned / bland. It was meant to have gorgonzola in the sauce but I definitely couldn’t taste any. We sent both back and asked for the risotto (which did at least taste good) to be re-heated. I was offered another dish which I was unkeen to do but didn’t want to go home hungry on my birthday so ordered a pizza which arrived as a big sloppy undercooked and again tasteless mess. Really frustrating as my pizza just a couple of weeks ago had been fantastic! We ended up eating our meals at different times to each other and it just rounded off what was a completely unenjoyable experience. They didn’t charge for the pizza at least. This was a reminder of why we had steered clear of this restaurant for so long. It sounds good, looks good, just doesn’t deliver on flavour.More

Disappointing food this visit. We have visited on many occasions and I’m usually happy to say this is one of my favourite Italian restaurants. Last nights food was really disappointing. I had the melanzane alla parmigiana…incredibly dry, reheated with a tasteless tomato sauce poured round....No taste of cheese at all. My daughter had penne salmon, smelt really fishy and again the tasteless tomato sauce. The calzone was good though. Service good as always, perhaps won’t return mid week 🤷🏻‍♀️More

We have been going to Il Griasole for 20 years! Best Pizza and Italian restaurant in town. Friendly staff and always a treat. All our friends who go with us agree also. Thanks again for a lovely evening. JR
