Currently writing this bed bound, I had the mussels… Service in the restaurant from one of the servers was good but the other lady clearly didn’t want to be there and was evident in her service. Food - below average. My colleges had steak and...lasagne, all three were unimpressed with the quality of the steak and the lasagne had clearly been sat for a fridge/freezer for a while. The interior was quite nice and cool but that was about the only redeeming feature of being there. Also ordered tap water that took over 15 minutes to arrive (it wasn’t busy at all) by which point we were fed up and decided to leave. Paid for the meal and wasn’t asked if everything was ok, in fact he barely said a word to me, didn’t seem to care. All in all, way below average.More

We found this by accident because we were told we could not park for a free for a 15 Minutes meeting in Ibis and lunch, 3 minutes later we parked at the travel Lodge and had our meeting outside on a nice sunny day. We...were greeted with a Big Smile and Direct Eye Contact from a Lady by the name of Sharon, Who had Clean Finger Nails, and clean clothes every table we looked at was clean and not sticky. We were Served Promptly at the Bar the Menu was a good Cross Section, the food was cooked well and delivered to the table with a smile and friendly gesture, no having to hunt for condiments and cutlery. This is a pleasant change from Pubs with sticky tables and Nachos as a main dish. The Gents I was with all commented on the Nice Lady and the good service. Thank You, Sharon.More

This was another special-birthday celebration, we were here early last year for a 50th. We returned as the DoG can be relied on to serve good food at a reasonable price. This was Sunday lunch for 8, and the food was enjoyed by everyone. Service...was timed just about right, not too fast or slow; over a non-rushed 2 hours 3 of the party even enjoyed a dessert after starters and mains. Special mention to server Adele, who was ever-pleasant and really looked after us. As the title suggests - we will be back. Thanks for a memorable lunchtime.More

I ate here a few times while staying in the area for work. The food is well cooked and well presented. The fish and chips are brilliant. The staff were friendly and polite. I would happily eat here again.

Had a lovely meal here was so nice relaxed and friendly feel. Adele made sure that our Gluten free daughters meal was safe. She also went out of her way to ensure that myself and 11 month old baby where catered for with a milk...and egg allergy checked through the allergy list ensured the kitchen was made aware. I really was put at ease and didn’t feel like we where to much trouble. Just to note also my 11 month old has reacted to the touch of a table or high chair and had to be given medication usually I put her in her pushchair to be safe. This particular time we didn’t and put her in a high chair she did not react meaning the high chair was safe which was great for her and me. We will definitely be visiting again.More

We are just back from a great family weekend away. As it’s my wife’s birthday we decided to call for some lunch as we got back home. We havnt been to the Duke of Gloucester for along time for some reason, but have to say...we really enjoyed our visit. Food was very good, well presented, good portion and tasted good. The manager who greated us and showed us to our table was very helpful and had a moment to talk to our children. The main event however was Adele our wonderful waitress. She was so polite, pleasant and genuinely pleased to serve us. Nothing was too much trouble. Lots of nice food places are often let down by the serving staff but Adele is a real Gem! We will be back.More

Finding myself unexpected in Crewe on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch I called at this venue... and was not disappointed I was welcomed at the bar, and presented with a substantial menu. I chose the lasagne, which was well presented and very tasty.,...and a sundae dessert, which was also very good. The Hartridge fruit juice drinks made a very pleasant change from the almost uiversal J2O. The serving staff were friendly and enthusiastic. unusually I was served by 5 different staff members, who were all smartly turned-out. Highly recommended.More

Visited twice last week with friends after not seeing each other for so long due to covid! On both occasions we enjoyed a sandwich from the lunch menu. Sharon served us and as usual she was very friendly and attentive. It was great to be...able to visit and do something normal 🙂More
