Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped off en route south. Booked at the last minute, but Nicola was most helpful going above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. When we arrived we were upgraded to a suite which was absolutely lovely. We ate dinner and breakfast, both were...excellent and all staff were very attentive. Would definitely return and recommend, well worth a visit.More

So the good news. Staff delightful and actually a really nice place to be. However £38 for a bottle of Chardonnay is a complete rip off and unacceptable . It’s a pub not a 5 star restaurant. Day light robbery without a mask.

Popped in for a drink whilst out on a family walk. The restaurant was decorated for Christmas and looked great, really festive. The drinks we ordered were lovely. Really warmed me up after being out in the cold. The service we received was great as...always. Special thanks to Amy, who is always so smiley and friendly; Jack who is a very polite and courteous server with a great sense of humour, and Becka who was lovely and served us with a smile. All in all an enjoyable couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon and looking forward to our next visitMore

We had an amazing time in the TeePee, adults and children enjoyed our early evening there, food was good and staff were extremely good and helpful especially Jack Morris who went out of his way to look after us. One of our party is definitely...going to book the teepee for one of their family outings, we are also booked in for Christmas Day Dinner. Another special occasion. Many thanks to all at the VickarageMore

We attended The Vicarage in Holmes Chapel for a meal with family and friends for our joint Hen and Stag do. The staff at The Vicarage were lovely enough to offer us a private room free of charge at no extra cost. We attended on...Saturday 25th November and we were greeted by the lovely Amy who went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and give us a good night. The service throughout was first class and that was down to Amy’s professionalism and excellent people skills. Amy had decorated the room beautifully which was a wonderful touch to create a beautiful vibe and welcoming atmosphere. The food was really nice as always with the Vicarage. Amy waited on us hand and foot and is honestly a credit to the Flat Cap Hotel Chain. Please pass on our absolute thanks to Amy. We stay at the Vicarage on a regular basis and we only live down the road so that tells you a lot about how pleasant a stay we have each and every time. This really is a wonderful location whether you want drinks, a meal out or an overnight stay. There is a rustic, industrial retro vibe to the Vicarage which makes this place really unique and charming. Absolutely love this place. Would highly recommend to anyone. The room rates are also attractive and reasonable. The Vicarage is a five star venue hands down.More

What a lively little find. My friend and I drove past and spotted the vicarage therefore we decided to have dinner. What a delight! Jack and Nicola were the stars of the show, their customer service was implacable with recommendations. If you decided to go...to the vicarage please try their cocktail menu. Delish!!More

I have eaten here on several occasions and it never fails to please. The interior can appear somewhat dark and gloomy, but it is always warm and welcoming, and there is a conservatory that is lovely and bright, and warm. I’ve always found the service...wonderful, always cheery smiles and nothing seems too much trouble. Lots of attention to any allergies mentioned which is comforting. I had the hake and my friend had the cod and they were both beautifully presented and well cooked. The desserts are interesting, slightly wacky and it would have been nice to have had a boringly normal pud on as an option as well, but I thoroughly enjoyed my caramelised pineapple, although my friend was slightly taken aback at the deconstructed carrot cake, very interesting and full marks to the chef for ingenuity. Prices overall are pretty fair, but the quality of the food is excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending the Vicarage, and if you are lucky enough to get Lochlann to serve you I guarantee you will not be disappointed.More

Have stayed here a couple of times with work. The hotel is well presented and accommodation decent. I would be wary if staying on business with a charge back to your company, do not hand over a personal card. I am still waiting on a...refund nearly a month on from them charging my personal card a month after I stayed, when they struggled to get payment from the travel company my business use. They didn’t even call me to try and get me to sort out before charging my personal card.More

Wow ! Cannot tell you guys how much we enjoyed our time here ! The staff and food was simply excellent ! Our stay was far from easy ! Our TV kept breaking down in our room but the staff couldn’t help us enough with...fixing it. The night porter lady however was far from helpful and it was the breakfast team that were the superstars ! On the Sunday, there was a mass power outage in the area. As we both work in hotels we know how stressful this was for the team and they handled with such grace and hospitality! Unfortunately for them, they this resulted in EVERYONE appearing for breakfast at the same time! The team and kitchen handled excellently and breakfast, although there was an informed delay, was delightful. Hats off to you all ! We ate here on the Friday night and all I can say is wow ! I hope that everyone hears about your amazing food ! And the atmosphere created was just perfect ! Would love to come back when next in the area.More
