Surprise in Nantwich

We were looking for a different type of meal -avoiding the standard limited options Covid-19 has led to and the Deadwood Smokehouse provided this. We had discovered a smokehouse in Chester which was fully booked when we were there, but luckily this one had a table free the evening we booked. Shared a full rack of ribs with sides and dirty fries. Lovely flavour and interesting "dirty fries". The raspberry gin fizz was also refreshing and a change from a rather pricey glass of wine. Tables close together but flexible clear screens using poster boards were used to maintain the atmosphere/capacity. A novel approach which worked rather well, alongside staff in face masks, who were very personable.

Small things would really help.

Overall, not a bad experience but with a few tiny tweaks, it could have been a great one so, here is my constructive thoughts for consideration. 1. The music, far, far too loud and not consistent with the type of restaurant this is. I'm guessing it was barman's choice and was the dross that gets pumped out in the clubs of Magaluf, the sound of conversation makes an atmosphere, when the music is too loud, everybody just shouts. 2, The main dish was unavailable so when we came to order I had to quickly choose an alternate, I totally get supply problems, but it's useful if the waiter could inform people when he gives out the menus. 3. A single wet wipe, the size of a beer mat is crazy, ribs with sauce is a delightfully messy business, much larger wipes would help here. 4. The toilet seat in the gents is broken and was on the floor, a quick inspection before service should have seen this and rectified it. 5. Chef needs to consider food going out all the same temperature. 6. Even though it was a very good sandwich, sending it out in a plastic basket made it feel cheap. Apart from these points, the food was on the whole good, an issue was dealt with swiftly and pleasantly and the attention from the waiter was flawless, he was well presented and happy to help so bravo that man. So, overall, a good restaurant, reasonable prices and a varied menu, worth a visit..

Booked via the website, no problems. Called restaurant prior to booking as we were running late, but it wasn’t a problem for them. Staff thoroughly attentive and friendly throughout visit. The food was ok, I can’t say anything was inedible, but the Mac n Cheese was stodgy like it’d been sat for a while and reheated. The Cajun onion rings didn’t taste Cajun although they were nice regardless. The sandwiches we had, tasted delicious but we felt they were overpriced. The sweet potato fries were crispy and tasted like they should. All the above reflects my score. Average.

Melt in the mouth!

I visited here last night for the first time and I was very impressed! I had the jumbo shrimp as a starter, and slow cooked brisket and dripping gravy for main, the beef was perfectly cooked and melt in the mouth! If you've got a sweet tooth then the desserts are perfect, belgium waffles sandwiched together with nutella topped with marshmallows and ice cream! The restaurant was packed and there was people coming in all night which is always a good sign. I would recommend booking a table to ensure you're not disappointed. The service was great and they were very attentive. Overall a great place to eat if you're a meat lover!

Amazing food!! Definitely one of the nicest places I’ve ever ate at. Both myself and my partner enjoyed our meals, food was cooked to perfection, portion sizes were good, and prices were ok - I don’t mind paying more for good quality food. Service was good and served in good time. Was smaller on the inside than expecting but was nice cosy environment. There are measures in place for COVID including hand sanitizers and screens. Would definitely eat here again (can’t wait to)!

Utterly Disappointing

I decided to eat here after visiting the area and seeing the excellent reviews but unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. I had Brisket with fries with a strawberry Milkshake and my parter the steak, requested rare to medium rare. The food looks amazing and plentiful on the pictures so I was excited to be given my meal. The first issue was that my milkshake was made with Nesquik at £4. The "Brisket" was 4 slices of dried beef, so dry that I couldn't swallow without the aid of the gravy which came in a thimble, not enough to add the required moisture it so desperately needed. The Brisket also had the texture of corned beef at £16. My parters steak was the thickness of my little finger and didn't come rare to medium rare at £15 it was tiny. We also had corn on the cob which was also dry and flavourless £3, we had to ask for some butter to add onto it, to give it some moisture and flavour. Atmosphere was laid back, including the staff who seemed to be having fun congregating around the bar. I am not a negative person but it pains me to spend so much money on food which is THIS disappointing and wanted to warn others before they go.

Saturday afternoon treat

Went on a Saturday afternoon. We had Flintstone rib and brisket sandwich, and requested 2 off the menu items - burnt ends and churros - which the staff were very accommodating for and provided. All the food was excellent, and the burnt ends melted in the mouth.

DO NOT recommend Deadwood smokehouse in Nantwich! Absolutely disgusting service! Food was served with no cutlery, after asking twice for something to eat our food with we were finally given knives and forks, by which time our food was cold. After we had finished our main course we went outside as some of our group smoke. There was only one bench which was occupied, so we social distanced from the bench. The manger promptly came outside and saw we were there and then came back with our bill, even though we wanted to have desert and more drinks. Shocking customer service and a real shame really as the food was quite nice!!!!

Takeaway disaster...

A very disappointing experience to say the least... me and my partner ordered a takeaway as a treat on 27th June as we don’t usually do this. This is a first time experience here and we were excited to try out this ‘smokehouse’. The price of the food was extortionate for the portions and if I’m honest the taste of the food itself was bland, it was about as adequate as a family barbecue which wasn’t what we were hoping to receive! We will not be attending the restaurant when it reopens and definitely won’t be ordering a takeaway from there again!

We love Deadwood and in these odd times they are offering a fab takeaway service, the food is just as good as the in house option. Unfortunately we live to far for the delivery service so did a curbside collection... Perfect service, got food. Thank you.

Poor Experience - Poor Service - Not recommended

We booked a table for a birthday meal tonight, we ordered over £190 of food and drinks(starters and deserts) only to be informed after finishing our main meal, that we had run out of time to have desert, as we had outstayed the table allocated time. Despite proving that we were not provided with an allocated time at the point of booking, we were told that we still needed to leave the table. Despite clearly explaining that we could not have eaten any quicker and thus the time allocated was therefore insufficient, the manager was decidedly unhelpful. The food was adequate, however, the service was exceptionally poor and the attitude of the manager was decidedly unhelpful. Would not recommend on the basis that you are unable to have a full meal.

Iv been going to deadwood since it opened and visited as recently as yesterday and have always been super satisfied with their food and service! The management team clearly care about what they serve as they’re always doing check backs and asking for honest feedback. The food has always been great! Exactly what it says on the tin - smokehouse meats, burgers etc and some really interesting sides and small plates. Find it hard to understand some of the reviews but being in the industry I understand some people only ever come on here to write negative things and never mention positive experiences - so that’s the purpose of this review! After visiting yesterday I thought it was about time I left some positive feedback for the guys! Thanks Deadwood for starting something we needed in Nantwich and remaining consistent! Recommend

Please don't waste your money - awful food

Last night I ordered a takeaway from the Nantwich location. Food arrived cold, very dry/chips like cardboard, no flavour and didn't appear fresh (pre-heated?). We ordered loaded fries x 2, Chicen Burger (bap was soggy and chicken dry), macaroni cheese, waffles.... almost £35 - definitely not worth the cost. Most got thrown away. I did private message the company via facebook, to give them the opportunity to respond, but the message was read over 8 hours ago and no response - not even a "sorry for your experience". Really disappointing.

Going Downhill

Have eaten here a few times and generally been impressed. First visit back since January and the food was not what it used to be. Menu states burger in a brioche bun, came in your cheap hamburger buns and the patty was tiny. Sweet potato fries over cooked and dry. There are plenty of other venues where a £15.99 burger is better than this. Almost Famous for example is so much better. Won’t be rushing back

The food and service here was fantastic. Very polite and attentive staff and the food was amazing. We were a party of 5 and we had different starters and mains all arrived correctly and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't rate this place highly enough.
