Lovely food, the homemade pie was stunning and the extra gravy a must. Lovely and clean pub, friendly staff will be back and highly recommended.
As regular users of the Wickstead we walked into town for sunday lunch. It's always been our first choice. We both ordered roast beef as fellow diners looked superb. Our plates arrived looking really nice as usual . The beef , plenty of it looked...nice but after eating much of the meal the beef that was buried we coukd not eat as it was pink and chewey. We told the waitress who was very pleasant. We said we were not complaining but may be the chefs could cook it less pink. Won't stop me returning though. Hope it's just a one off . Still a superb pub.More
Have been going for a considerable number of years, and really enjoy everything about this pub. Ideal location, good food, great selection of beers and very friendly staff. We always have the pie, which I feel is their best offering. This time, unfortunately, it was...a bit of a disappointment. You can tell that the pies are lovingly made but I don’t know whether it has been microwaved, because the crust was extremely hard , and overall a bit dry. Perhaps if a jug of gravy was served separately, it would overcome some of that problem. Otherwise, a completely enjoyable experience. Will definitely be coming again in the near future. ThanksMore
Our grandson used to come here when he was a student at Reece Heath college, and praised it. Goat curry truly excellent, as is steak pie. Ham, egg and chips also good. Could not fault anything; highly recommended.
What a lovely little find right in the town centre. We arrived in a busy Sunday afternoon for dinner. No pre-booking so luckily found a table. The roast dinners were fantastic and they catered very well for the vegi in our group. The food was...all home cooked, including the puddings! Just a shame they’d run out of the cheesecake by the time I got there so I’ll have to go back. Great range of bar drinks and a real pub atmosphere.More
There was an awesome atmosphere for the rugby internationals on Saturday, shame about the result (Wales lost); the staff are always attentive, efficient and polite. We returned on Sunday for what is, without question, the best roast in town; plenty on the plate, presented impeccably...and tastes amazing. Again the staff are first class. Thank you Emma, Julie and the teamMore
Paid another visit to our favourite pub in Nantwich today- the food quality takes pub food to new level My usual- goat curry was just superb as was my partner's quiche from the specials board. All the food is freshly cooked in a ridiculously small...kitchen - nothing warmed up ! - excellent choice of beers all in tip top condition All in all a brilliant experience.More
Saw this pub on a google search of dog friendly pubs in Nantwich. It lived up to the reviews. Nice clean pub. Friendly mum and daughter service. Good range of drinks. We had lunch: 1) homemade steak and ale pie, 2) cod and chips. Well...prepared and tasted delicious. Our Jack Russel cross was also made very welcome.More
Popped in for a light bite to eat and have a drink. The staff were so friendly. They very kindly split our panini onto separate plates as we find the portions quite large in places. The panini was packed full of lovely moist chicken and...the chips were really hot.More
We called today for Lunch, met by a lovely lady, who served our drinks, we ordered the Jamaican Curried Goat and the Sticky Chinese Chicken. The food was delicious, while the service was extremely friendly, can’t recommend this pub enough, we will call again when...next visiting Nantwich.More
Spotted this place as we strolled round on our first visit to Nantwich, and am very glad we did. We were greeted with a warm welcome and an impressive menu. I had a delicious pulled pork burger but husband hit the jackpot with Julie's Goat...Curry. A hearty helping of tender tasty meat in a deep, superbly spiced sauce - brava, Julie! Bill for two mains, side of chips (hardly necessary) large Merlot and a soft drink was £40. Service was prompt efficient and pleasant. Warmly recommended on all counts. Many thanks to all.More
Lovely local Pub in the centre of Nantwich. Very nice staff, good, reasonably priced beer and a relaxing atmosphere. We did not buy food here because we were saying at a hotel, but the meals which we saw others eating certainly looked good.
We shared 8 tapas dishes between 4 of us last night and the food was superb, loads of flavour and spice, better than any Indian or Chinese in Nantwich and great value for money.
Second time we have been here ! First time left a good impression, friendly staff , fantastic fresh cooked food !! ( GOOD PORTION SIZES !!) Hence return visit and was not disappointed Recommended and will definitely be back again soon !!!
