Called in here on Thursday while shopping.
As we entered we enquired if food was being served and, with a smile and given menus and informed of the specials on offer. Homemade food prepared in house is quite rare and for us this was an impressive start.
I like a pie and enquired which was the most popular. The steak and ale was the answer so that was me sorted. My wife chose the goat curry. A really unusual dish to offer. Both were served in good time and were delicious.
My wife does not eat too much at lunch so offered half of the curry. I did not need any persuasion to clean the plate. A great friendly atmosphere and good hosts. Thanks. We only go to Nantwich a few times a year. I wish we had the Wickstead closer to Market Drayton. We will never again need to look around Nantwich to decide where to eat.

Nice Sunday lunch , beef cooked well and tender . Found it lacking in portion size if we were honest . One carrot , one parsnip, mash , green beans and one roast potato . Reasonable price at 10.95 but portion size could be larger. there is an option for homemade cauliflower cheese at an additional £2.95 and we declined this , but with hindsight would have again to fill us up more .
Would recommend and very nicely presented , just need a few more roast and veg 👍🏻

After reading the reviews we thought we'd have to try out the Wickstead's food and after 2 consecutive Sunday Roasts we cannot fault everything on offer. Both times my partner and I have had the Roast Beef, accompanied by roast & mash potato, roast carrot and roast parsnip, broccoli and lashings of gravy topped off with a huge Yorkshire pudding all for £11.95. I had the cauliflower cheese (£2 extra). The first week we ate at 3.15 pm not so busy and the second week we arrived at 1.50pm which was extremely busy. Still we managed to get a table and our dinner arrived some 20 minutes later. All in all a very satisfying and enjoyable experience. Thank you for making it so! ☆☆☆☆☆

We had two wonderful sunday lunches today, food was fresh, piping hot, meat was tender, jug of extra gravy and a good old fashioned yorkshire pud.
Well done Wickstead Arms! We were made to feel very welcome and safe on our table which was at a distance from others. Hand sanitizer was situated at the entrance and other sites around the pub and toliets. Thank you we will be back soon 😍😍

Went here for lunch today, and I have to say that the food was excellent. My wife has a seafood allergy and after explaining this to the manageress they could not have been more helpful. The chef even came out to speak with us and go through the menu so that she could choose something safe. Well done guys!

This place was 10/10. Loved the beer and the staff were really lovely considering we hadn’t booked and they were busy. Both the starter and main (prawns and katsu curry) were unreal. The chips were also amazing. Gutted that I don’t live local to this pub as it’s a little gem. :)

Called in for lunch after looking at other great reviews on here.
I was soooo disappointed. The homemade burger had an overpowering flavour of sage and garlic - great if you happen to like these, but I’m not a lover of sage and the garlic wasn’t properly cooked as it gave me indigestion all afternoon. The fries were frozen, with an oil taste I didn’t like and couldn’t eat. I was hoping for the home cut chips, but I hadn’t read the menu properly unfortunately.
The staff were lovely - had to ask for cutlery/condiments which had been forgotten - but she did apologize.
Nobody collected the plates or asked if we’d enjoyed the food. My friend enjoyed her haloumi.
It was a cold damp day and the pub was unheated and we felt cold whilst eating.
The decor is pleasant and the toilets are clean.
Basically, I paid £11.95 for a burger I didn’t enjoy so not an experience I’d care to repeat.

This was the first time we ate here and after reading the Trust Pilot reviews The Wickstead did not disappoint. The pulled pork brioche buns were incredible and they are not shy with the filling portion either. Lovely family run pub. Highly recommend. Will 100% be back. Thank you!! (P.s. Kareoke is great here too!)

Stopped in for lunch. We ordered toasted sandwiches. Thinking we would be given toasties The bread was put under the grill for 5 seconds When it was served I asked for it to be cooked more. 10 seconds later it reappeared looking better BUT it had only been done on one side. The bottom of the toasted sandwich was still anaemic I eat half of the sandwich not wanting it handed a third time . On paying I mentioned that I had left half. The same member of staff who took it back the first time asked why I had not complained . She cleared the dishes and asked my husband the same question. He replied. We already had once what would be the point of do so again

Today was the second time I have visited the Wickstead Arms with my children on a Sunday afternoon.
I have to say that the service we have received on both occasions has been great :)
On both occasions my son and I have had the steak and ale pie...which is really delicious. It is freshly made to order and served with chips and peas. The portions are ample - so much so that I have been able to even contemplate dessert!
My daughter had the quiche today, which she really enjoyed but just couldn’t finish that either.
Hopefully we’ll be there a bit earlier next Sunday afternoon so there will still be some roast dinner options left!
If you’re looking for somewhere to eat in Nantwich that’s teenager friendly, with great food and fantastic service, head straight to the Wickstead Arms.

The Jamaican goat curry was excellent, loads of flavour, loads of peppers, quite hot but really, really good. The rice was a bit of a let-down, easy cook American long grain; a bit hard. The chips were very well cooked, very flavoursome, but not crisp. But the curry was something else and made up for everything.
Steak pie and chips. Very nice, tender meat, good puff pastry, good gravy.
Chicken curry and chips. Not as good as the goat in my opinion, but my mother-in-law orders it every time she goes.
Had the Wickstead IPA, had a bit of a chemical aftertaste. Then had the Urban Fox, which was ok, but not exceptional.
The pub itself is a little dated, but the staff are extremely welcoming and efficient. It's busy; we went on a Friday lunchtime and got one of the last tables in the lounge.
Will definitely be going again.

My business colleague chose The Wickstead Arms for our pre-Christmas catch up meeting. He isn’t local and based on previous reviews he had seen, he expected a gastro styled pub restaurant, and was a little surprised that the Wickstead is in fact a popular local. We arrived at 1pm and the lounge was full but we were offered a table in the bar area, which looked very similar.
In addition to it being busy, there was a buzzing atmosphere and as most people were busy tucking into their lunch, these are usually signs of a good pub.
There were plenty of food choices on the menu, we were both tempted to order a main meal , but decided on steak ciabatta and turkey, brie and cranberry sandwich. Both arrived with fries. Whilst we only ordered light bites, we were very impressed with the quality of the food and the service was attentive, even though waitress service wasn’t normally offered in the bar area.
I have strolled by past this pub many times and often wondered what it was like. Now I know and will definitely revisit in the near future.

Our first visit to the The Wickstead did not disappoint. We were treated to a Sunday lunch for our anniversary ( by parents who visit regularly).
The simple menu of homemade food was tasty and delicious and the service was great. The pub was pleasant, comfortable and clean. There were no empty sits and I can see why. Hope to back again when visiting Nantwich

We visited here in 5th September 2021 for very much unplanned Sunday roast. We were looking for somewhere to eat after a walk in the local area and came across Wickstead Arms.
A small establishment but plenty of tables without feeling cramped. We were lucky to be able to be seated immediately. Staff were very friendly.
We had the lamb Sunday roast and it was delicious! Roast potatoes not to my taste but I'm not a big potato fan in all honesty so don't take my word on this. Our meal was served quickly and the lamb was absolutely delicious, as was everything else on the plate.
The best Sunday roast I've had in a pub in a long time.
We will be back!

The food here is lovely - a good range of traditional pub food with a good range of gluten free and veggie options. The portions were big, the quality was really good and the pricing is very fair. The staff are really welcoming, friendly and very attentive. I will definitely be coming back!
