Cheshire Grill comes highly recommended for its delicious steaks and the staff's attentive service, which often exceeds expectations, making special occasions memorable for guests. The atmosphere is consistently lauded for being warm and inviting, with tasteful decor that enhances the dining experience. While travelers generally enjoy the food and service, opinions on value are divided; some guests find the meals well worth it, but others are put off by occasional inconsistencies with meal quality and portion sizes.

My husband and I visited the Cheshire Grill about 18 months ago and we had the most amazing steaks, so we thought we would go with my parents whilst the Eat Out to Help out Scheme was on. Our first visit was superb, the venue have plenty of measures in place to make customers feel safe from Covid-19, we were well looked after, we had the most amazing steaks cooked to perfection and we really enjoyed it. We had such a lovely time we decided to return a week later, however this visit was a bit disappointing. We could only get an early evening booking, when we arrived we were in a different location to where we sat the previous week and were right near a speaker which causes my dad an issue as he wears hearing aids, so all they pick up is the music and makes it difficult for him to hear the conversation. We were unable to move as the other available tables were also near speakers. We ordered drinks and when they came we ordered our meals. The 2 tables near us had people arrive after us and they both got their food and we were still waiting, eventually we asked someone if they could check on our order. It had been put on the system but not printed in the kitchen. We were offered some garlic breads whilst we waited for our food to be cooked, but we declined not wanting to spoil our appetite. The food was lovely as per the previous week. Mum & I decided to a desert, Mum’s first choice was sold out and so we both had cheesecake, we waited quite a while for it but it was lovely and due to the issue with our meals we were not charged for them. On the whole I would recommend them as the food is excellent, the service the second time wasn’t as good and sitting near a speaker spoilt things for my Dad which is the reason I have not given an excellent rating.

I visited here for the first time last night with a wonderful friend of mine for a well over due catch up!! Well, what can I say, this place was a 26 mile round trip, which was worth every second of the drive!!! Upon entry I felt like a was entering a woodland manor house, beautifully decorated, warm homely atmosphere, and two smiling waiters. Cheshire Grill Country Pub and Steakhouse has got to be one of the most inviting Restaurants I have ever been to! Dave and Aaron were so attentive, friendly and looked after us for the whole 5 hours we stayed there, nothing was too much trouble! We couldn't believe it when we looked at the time! And not once did we feel pressured to rush or leave, we could have stayed there all night quite happily chatting away! The food was absolutely delicious , we had a sirloin steak, mussels, dessert, coffee and mocktials. After this experience I can definitely say that we will be making that long journey to visit again soon! Thank you Aaron and Dave for making our visit so enjoyable and relaxing!

Drove past this place many times before but never been in, so decided to book for Sunday Lunch. Booking was easy and I got a call the day of the actual booking asking me to confirm and I was asked if it was a special occasion (nice touch) got there on time (we came from Chester, so 35 mins drive) front of house was very attentive and there was live casual music in the background, first feelings, very cosy and relaxed. The tables were far enough apart to be able to chat without being overheard. The menu had a lot of choice and the steaks sounded amazing, but I stayed focused as I was here for Sunday lunch. My wife had chicken roast, I had the 3 meat roast option beef, gammon and chicken. (A bit limited given that I paid extra for 3 meats) I have to say that it was up there, very nice, if I had to make a minor comment it would be the limited veg, it came with carrot and Swede mash, so in my eyes thats one veg, because you cant leave one part if you don't like Swede and/or carrots and the other veg was broccoli which I really dont like.. so I just has the Swede carrot combo (and roasties of course) otherwise good portions, it was well cooked and great service, (not sure what the half roasted shallot was about) this lunch is probably up there as my best Sundsy roast out of the home, I will be back!! and next time I'm going for the 469g prime rib,

Called an hour before and booked a 6pm reservation on a Sunday. No issues. Arrived lots of parking, very nicely decorated, not busy about 1/3 full. Was told that the gammon had run out and only 2 beef dishes left, shown to a table by a window, we were both quite cold. Given a printed starter menu and told that they’d run out of all the starters and had to do a separate menu. I decided on the beef, my partner the chicken, off the Sunday menu, set price for 2 course,. Food arrived an hour later, we both were grateful it wasn’t busy! We’d both ran out of drinks and we’re going to order as the food arrived but they’d forgot the mash potatoes and said they’ll be right back, beef was cooked beautifully, veg very hard but ok to eat and the roast potatoes were disappointing not crisp, more like frozen roast potatoes re heated! 15 mins later the mash arrived and I asked for more gravy as my food was a little dry, this arrived a few mins later. Probably our fault but we forgot to order drinks, but disappointingly they had failed to notice our drinks were empty! Once the food had finished we asked for more drinks and ordered a dessert, again ran out of two dessert options, thankfully we didn’t book a later table!! The puddings were £6.95 each, thankfully we’d booked the Sunday dinner option! Pudding arrived nice, as you’d expect but the lemon roulade was served with mango sorbet which was an odd combination. At the end of the meal we both felt dissatisfied with the service and the food, not once were we asked was everything of and when asked for the bill they didn’t ask us our thoughts on the meal! When the bill arrived they had added the mash as an extra, over charged us for both desserts and when we pointed it out did amend it straight away but we were over charged £16! Needless to say we didn’t leave a tip! This was our first visit and we are very unlikely to return.

I’ve been before and enjoyed it, however... I came here on a Saturday night with my family, we booked a table for 8pm and didn’t get seated for about 40 minutes. It was busy granted but I feel a 40 minute wait just to be seated considering we had booked and without anyone even updating us is poor. Once we were finally seated we had been waiting for our starters for over an hour before someone told us the chef wasn’t happy with one of the starters we ordered and did we want anything else, by this point it was gone 10pm and we told them to leave it and we’d just share the others. After another long wait for the mains we had almost gone past the point of being hungry. We finally left about 11pm baring in mind the restaurant was pretty much dead after 10pm so it being a busy restaurant wasn’t an excuse. The food when it eventually arrived was good but the lack of communication from anyone and lack of service just ruined the night for everyone, we saw people walking out, people complaining and everything just seemed to be all over the place. We did receive a discount for our bill but it has still left us feeling like we don’t want to go back, especially on a weekend as it seems they just can’t cope when it’s busy. Overall food was good but the service really let it down.

I've never wrote a negative review before, but last night we visited this restaurant and I've never felt more disappointed with a recommendation. I can genuinely say there was no positives about our visit. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy so I can't understand why we were kept waiting for our table. The waiter made us welcome, introduced himself, took our drinks order and then promptly disappeared, never to be seen again, apparently been sent to the kitchen to help out the chef's, who based on the quality of the food weren't chef's, I can imagine the real chef didn't turn up and a couple of locals who'd been on the pop all day put there hands up and volunteered too cook. Another long wait till the new waiter appeared and took the food order, 75 minutes passed and I had to go and find the waiter to see what was going on with our food, it wasn't difficult, 3 steaks and a chicken curry, he looked embarrassed, the food arrived, how can 2 steaks ordered to be cooked medium rare be cooked so differently, one was cooked ok and the other resembled shoe leather, there was that much salt in the chips I thought the snow gritters had give them a heavy dusting. The chicken curry resembled some sort of pre cold war gruel served up in a eastern European slop shop, I called the waiter and manager over and asked them to taste the food because it was the worse curry ever, the manager said he would get the chef's to check the recipe, an alternative was offered, I politely asked how long the alternative would take to prepare due to the 75 minutes it had took to present the pig slop on offer, he couldn't answer so we opted for a starter dish that would take very little preparation, went for chicken skewers, had better from Asda. Was offered 50% off the bill, when we go out for a meal it's not about money, but quality and service and on this occasion the Cheshire grill failed miserably.

Family meal this is my review for my meal only the other food was ok ! Beetroot Wellington New potatoes and seasonal veg ....plate was not hot enough so food went cold fast the Wellington was absolutely dreadful just smashed up beetroot no herbs or chilli so bland couldn't eat it few carrot sticks and the bit of broccoli and two new potatoes cut in half no sauce or gravy I cannot tell you how disappointed I was and a rather pathetic dessert menu I left feeling still hungry so cheese on toast when we got home . I won't be returning and if your vegatarian I wouldn't bother you really need to up your game in providing more interesting vegi n vegan food lots of pubs and resturants offer a separate vegatarian menu move with the times not everyone wants to eat meat . Service was very slow and we sat for ages after we had finished with plate in front of us you need more staff the guy serving was pleasant but very overworked. Was served two types of Malbec why I don't know .

Me and my partner attended on Saturday night, considering it was a Saturday the restaurant did not seem that busy. We were seated after 20 minutes of confusion over not being able to find out online booking. The waitress who serve us was lovely, very polite. We chose our meals and decided to order the garlic bread to share for started. A group of 4 arrived after we placed our order and another couple were seated close by. We waited 35 minutes in which time both other tables received their first course while we waited for our bread to be toasted! The second course arrived quite promptly after our starters which we were please about. However I waited 5 minutes for my truffle and Parmesan fries to arrive to accompany the mussels. My partner had opted for the ribeye steak. On arrrival of my fries the waitress informed me that the chef had put the wrong fries on each of our plates. We exchanged fries to which mine were cold. My partner cut into his steak to find it was stone cold!! He never complains and would have usually ate it but he asked me to feel it and it was chilled! He told the waiter and was told he would get another to him in 4 minutes. 20 minutes went by to which I’d finished my meal and my partner had gone past his hunger when his new steak arrived. The waiter told us he wouldn’t charge us for his steak which we appreciated however we went to eat together and we ended up watching each other eat alone!! As far as we were concerned it wasn’t about the money, it was about enjoying a rare meal out together as a couple. We have been a few other times and only once had an eventful free night due to long waits, cold food, raw macaroni cheese. We will not be attending again, such a shame......

Visited for the first time recently as we are local and I had initially been impressed with the customer service on the phone. ( I had telephoned to search for an elusi e sunday lunch with gluten free Yorkshire pudding and although they could not provide one on that occasion the woman I spoke to was accommodating and very pleasant. ) So we chose to visit anyway. The place The restaurant is very nicely decorated although at the time of our visit was completely devoid of any ambience. I know they had been due to have live music that had been unable to make it due to bad weather which obviously was not there fault. I chose the pate to start which is advertised as coming with gluten free sourdough, however it arrived with crackers. I had to question this and was told that they had checked the sourdough and it wasn't gluten free. It was disappointing that they did not think to tell me this before they served it but they did offer to change it. However as my only other gluten free option was soup ( obviously without bread)I chose to keep the pate. This was a mistake as it was the greasiest and blandest pate I have ever had. (They voluntairily removed the price of mine off the bill due to the cracker debacle.) We both had roast dinners to start which were nice but definately average.I agree with other reviews on here that the roast potatoes are not crispy at all which is a shame. As we had not eaten our starters we decided to have a dessert. My only gluten free option was a pannacotta and I can honestly say that it was the worse pannacotta I have ever tasted,it was bland and like rubber. Again we left them after 1 mouthful. I was also concerned that both pannacotta were served and the waiter said " 2 gluten free pannacotta" although only one had biscuit crumbs. I alerted the manager ( who had been serving us) and he checked with the kitchen and the biscuit crumbs were gluten free, but then I dont understand why only one plate would have them? The desserts were also removed from our bill with no quibble which I appreciated but does not make up for the fact that we had been looking forward to a rare lovely meal out and it was a wash out. I would rather have paid for everything and had a lovely meal. There were so many issues and the food so disappointing that for us it is not worth giving a second chance. Such a shame.

Although fairly quiet the waiting time for the food to come to the table was ridiculous. We waited for over an hour for our main course. The waiter did apologise after 45 minutes and told us it was now being plated up, but it still took another 20 minutes to come out. The food itself was very good. Another slight moan is the fact that they left all the wine glasses on the table, even though we were not drinking wine. I had fillet steak, but was not offered a steak knife.

Absolutely lovely restaurant but the food was bland. Ordered a fish pie and it tasted of absolutely nothing. My boyfriend ordered the steak special and it was just a fatty piece of steak with chips for £40. I gave the staff candles for my boyfriends dessert as it was his birthday and they forgot. Kids meal with a free drink , yet we were charged. Ordered 2 desserts and both contained nuts, my boyfriend is allergic and it wasn’t specified on the menu. When asked, the staff had to embarrassingly explain that both dessert boxes only say “may contain nuts” so it’s £6 a slice for a shop bought pudding.

Fab evening at The Cheshire Grill. The surroundings are lovely and the food did NOT disappoint. There were five of us in the party, we all had starters, highly recommend the fish cakes and chicken satay skewers, we then all ordered fillet steak, ranging from blue to well done ...... every steak was cooked to perfection, just as requested and they were all served at the same time. Dessert was a mixture of sorbets and cocktails - my favourite being the blood orange sorbet. After being greeted by Aaron on arrival we were seated and waited on by Kelly, both of whom are an absolute credit to the restaurant and provided just the right amount of attentiveness. At the end of the evening we met Head Chef Scott so we were able to thank him for the outstanding food. A final mention to the bar team who made THE best porn star martini to finish our evening off. Well done team Cheshire Grill - it’s a10/10 from me.

This was our second visit. We had not enjoyed the first but it was a long time ago and thought we’d give it another go. The decor is good but we felt it was lacking in ambience with fairly loud music and strong lighting. My husbands starter was ok and his steak was done blue as requested, was a nice piece of meat but was much too salty. The additional broccoli requested never arrived. The mussels I had been looking forward to had sold out so I ordered salmon and there was very little on the plate, not enough for a main. My husband ordered ice cream which arrived in a soup bowl with no wafer or decoration at all, in fact a bit of a school dinner presentation. Service was good if on the slow side. We decided to add the usual 10% tip to the bill but was told they can’t do that. All in all the meal was nice enough but not outstanding.

The gastro pub is set away from the busy dial carriage way in the country side. There is not much view from the restaurant but there are plenty of parking space. The service was prompt and courteous. Unfortunately the restaurant had no social distancing. We were seated right next to a table and you could easily touch the person on the next table. It's also difficult to understand why they have seated people so close to each other when there are plenty of empty tables. And no, there was no divider. This is a big no in today's climate and dwarfs all the effort put in by the waiting staff. We had a Sunday roast set, made of starter and main. Despite having mash written on the menu as part of the dish, we were told at the order we would not get the mash and the waitress would recommend ordering it as a side as it's really delicious. Strange marketing and we've given that expense a pass. My croquettes were not great. 3 small piece sitting on rocket and onion jam. Croquettes were little soggy and had a strange vinegary taste. My partners pop corn chicken starter was better. The main was a mixed bag. Roast beef was tender and flavoursome, really good but paper thin and not much of it. Roast potatoes were completely opposite on scale of deliciousness - it had no crunch, tasted of rancid old oil and one of the worst ones I've had for long time. Broccoli was cooked well but it's a strange choice to give 2 pieces of broccoli and 1/2 a entire carrot. No, I'm not exaggerating, it was literally a carrot cut vertically in 1/2. It tasted decent but not exactly the star of the roast dinner. Yorkshire pud was ok but lacked the crisp edge and the gravy wasn't inspiring. All in all I had much better roasties at franchised pub at half the price. ok, to be fair except for the roast beef but that wasn't worth the money, especially with no proper measures to keep us safe whilst eating.
