Felt intimidated by the owner. I asked for vegan option and basically although accommodated with lovely vegan cake it came with a suttle telling off as I hadn’t booked. When attempting to explain I was shut down with ifs and buts. I didn’t warm to her. My friend and I had 1 coffee and I had vegan cake served on a non hygienic wooden platter and she had a very small scone. The bill was shy of £15. Not going again. At the end of the day it was 2 coffees and 2 cakes.

I’m not sure why you felt intimidated by me as I didn’t take your order and only passing apologised for having one option for cake but mentioned we could offer a full vegan afternoon tea if it was prebooked. We advertise that we are a quintessential English Tea Room using bone china with vegan food available as a vegan option. You requested an alternative plate, which we we happy to do for you. Your cake was beautifully presented on a clean wooden board with fruit and vegan cream on the side. I am sorry you didn’t enjoy your experience.

Went for afternoon tea with three friends in February. We hadn't booked apparently and the waitress was quite abrupt about what was available (not a lot)
Served a small selection of sandwiches (these were what was left over and they didn't have a lot of bread left to make more) and a cake each. Overall, not a good experience but nice to meet up with friends.

Unbelievable that you chose to post this while this Pandemic Virus is going on! We would never have given you less than what you'd ordered. Disappointed as you were not to get a full afternoon tea, was there really a need to write this???

Once again Belinda and Ian delivered a top notch Afternoon Tea. This was our third trip and we’ve already booked our 4th.
We’d like to thank Belinda for the effort taken to keep everyone safe during this time; pre-booking makes complete sense and the phone call beforehand to check our health status was appreciated.
Personal service, local produce, oodles of delicious cake and a friendly ambiance all adds up to a perfect afternoon.
Loving the new “Davenports of Cheshire” website, made pre-booking very easy.
Already looking forward to our return trip in December.

A group of 5 of us booked a Private Afternoon Tea Cruise (£300 in total), with Davenports Tea Room.
Belinda and Ian could not have been more accommodating when booking the experience.
They were also fab during the cruise; welcoming, friendly, and full of enthusiasm.
The cruise was 4 hours and the route we went took us on the Anderton Boat Lift.
The afternoon tea was delicious; home made and locally sourced selection of sandwiches, savouries, cakes and scones. There was plenty of choice and more than enough for everybody.
Hot and cold refreshments were available throughout the cruise.
It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon and seeing Northwich from a totally different perspective.
Would definitely recommend.

We ordered an Davenport’s afternoon tea take away for my daughter’s sixteenth birthday due to tearooms ect being closed because of Covid 19. I have to say the service provided exceeded my expectations, the afternoon tea was presented beautifully in well organised boxes which included the most beautiful sandwiches and cakes. Each family members dietary requirements was noted and catered for without compromising taste or presentation. A link was provided so that an explanation of the variety of tea and food could be appreciated fully.
I was so impressed with both the level of service and the care provided in to making sure the afternoon tea party was a success. I want to thank Davenport’s for helping my daughter’s birthday during lock down a day to remember. The food not only looked lovely, it was truly delicious.
Thank you Davenport’s, I intend to keep your afternoon tea takeaway a tradition!

I went with 2 friends to Davenports for afternoon tea. It's the best afternoon tea experience I've ever had. The selection of teas is wide and the lady's knowledge of tea was impressive. The food was delicious, with a variety of sandwiches and cakes. We booked a week in advance and requested one gluten free, one vegetarian and one normal afternoon tea. The food was plentiful and prepared with care and attention. It was the full experience of a relaxed, enjoyable afternoon tea with friends set in the quaint tearooms. Davenports operates well under current covid guidelines, thought has gone into how to keep everyone safe whilst maintaining the full experience. Thank you, we will definitely be back.

I have visited Davenports a number of times over the years and it never fails to disappoint me. I was so happy to go back and visit again after they reopened. I really like how every experience is personal, they adapted the sandwiches for us on request, they saved specific flavour scones for us on request, I really like how they explain all of the different items on the stand and that they are sourced locally. I think it’s lovely how Davenports warm the cups before serving the tea and also I like that the scones are served warm. The staff are also very knowledgable and kind, they even gave me advice on where to go to a lovely walk locally. I’ll be back again soon!

Fantastic service. Had to pick up earlier than normally open and was met by a cheery lady who epitomised everything about a lady who owns a tea shop. The owner is justifiably proud of Davenports and this was evident the moment I entered through the gates. Met by the owner in her pinny who had been up at the crack of dawn baking fresh beautiful scones. The afternoon tea for a birthday surprise came complete with candles and little happy birthday banners on a couple of the cakes.
The selection of cakes and savouries were delicious and so well protected and presented in sturdy ‘present’ boxes wrapped with a ribbon and carried to the car by Belinda as if they were a new born baby to continue the journey with care!
Would definitely recommend an afternoon tea from Davenports.

I ordered afternoon tea for work for our team meeting online.
Ordering was very easy for 12 people and Davenports accommadated our requirements for veggie etc no problem. They delivered to our work place and was early and Belinda dressed in her Victorian clothes. They were beautifully package. We had our meeting and opened the boxes together, it looked amazing. The sandwiches were very fresh and tasty. The cakes were delicious. There was a lot of food so some cakes were saved for later. With a selection of teas to try too. There was a little card in the box saying thank you and also a quiz for us to do. It was one of our best team meetings.

Justv had a wonderful afternoon tea. Both the food and hospitality was exceptional and every detail has been taken into account to make you feel safe.
The explanation regarding all the different types of tea was explained to have with the food being offered. Lovely sandwiches,pork pie,cheeses,scones and cakes all locally produced. Had to bring the cakes home as we were so full.
Would certainly recommend this tea room and will be returning.

This was my first afternoon tea at Davenports and I can assure you it will not be my last .
From the quirky Alice in wonderland decor to the highly attentive staff , from begining to end the whole experience was amazing . You have a choice of tea or coffee and Belinda the owner has a vast amount of knowledge about all the different teas they have and encourages you to try something a little different from the norm.
The afternoon tea itself is substantial we had the traditional and it was delicious, and it is followed by home made scones , jam , butter and clotted cream. I cannot recommend Davenports enough and cannot wait for my next visit .

I treated my husband to afternoon tea here as he has a particularly sweet tooth and loves cakes. We were not disappointed. The afternoon tea was served by a very knowledgeable lady who took much pride in her business and both the food and decor was beautifully presented. Sandwiches were fresh, with super-soft bread. The potted beef was particularly delicious. Cakes - we could not decide who was going to enjoy what, so we meticulously cut each cake in half so we could sample everything. Highlights were the fondant fancy, chocolate cake and lemon meringue. Although we were, by then, too full for the scones, they were also polished off with a pair of delicious jams. The tea was lovely, and a good complement to the food (from a couple of coffee drinkers!)
Covid controls were the most thorough I have come across at any restaurant yet!

We had the best day, afternoon tea cruise, beautifully set up, comfortable chairs, very yummy afternoon tea, part of the cruise was the Anderson boat lift, what an experience not one to miss. Weather was perfect. Belinda was fantastic, very knowledgable and looked after us all brilliantly, lovely lady, would recommend, thank you Belinda and Nigel enjoyed by all.

My daughter and I enjoyed afternoon tea here as a special treat. We had a fantastic time and the afternoon tea was the best we’ve had. The vintage and Alice in Wonderland themed decor only added to the experience. The sandwiches tasted so fresh and tasty, especially the homemade potted beef, the cake selection was amazing and everything was so light and freshly made, our favourite was the key lime pie. The number of teas on offer is extensive and Belinda is so knowledgeable and helped us with our choices, highly recommend the Darjeeling. All in all we had a great afternoon and would definitely visit again. Not just afternoon tea but an afternoon tea experience!

Amazing ambiance and food. The attention that Belinda gives to every customer is second to none, she spends a lot of time with each table explaining in detail the different types of teas and details of how every cake/sandwich is made.
She makes it a special afternoon and one everyone should try, luckily for me I am going again in a couple of weeks, cant wait
