Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wet average to poor food. My steak sandwich had the toughest piece of meat I’ve ever had. Soup came with no bread and it was brought out together. Seemed frantic. One very nice waitress as earned the two stars. I should have got her name....Otherwise very poor.More

I will start with a positive - some of the younger staff were lovely, attentive and very helpful. However, I wasn't impressed with a lot of things on my visit with a friend today. The attitude of the staff member serving our drinks wasn't great...after my friend telling him to not handle the rim of her coffee cup, he proceeded to do just that whilst telling her he hadn't touched the rim. Saucers were swimming with the drinks we ordered. Drinks weren't even hot. Cutlery and napkins weren't clean. My food came in a bowl sat on top of a serving plate which had bits of food on it that wasn't mine. My friend's chips were not hot. When the same staff member came to take our plates/bowls away and asked how our food was, he didn't like our response and even when I mentioned the food on my serving plate, he joked that it was free extras. He advised my friend that he would remove the chips from the bill, however when we got the bill, there was an additional £5 added to it, which when questioned couldn't be explained. It was removed because I said I wasn't paying it. Not a great experience all roundMore

We visited on Saturday and the staff were great, so much more welcoming and helpful than other places we have visited recently. Nothing was too much trouble and when something was forgotten they could apologise enough. Food was great too

Ordered the bacon barm off the breakfast menu. It arrived on very thin sliced doughy bread plastered with some kind of spread (not butter!). When asked by I presume who was the manager what the problem was and I told him, he showed no concern...at all and then simply walked off. I was still charged the full price. I certainly will not be eating there again…. Terrible customer service!More

Drove by and decided to stop with some friends after seeing the sign. Quirky little cafe style restaurant is in a pretty pleasant area, lots of fields around and a mini village of shops and other things to do. Food selection is very varied, one...of my friends being vegan due to allergies was catered for amazingly! Never expected a little place like this to be nestled in Cheshire.More

As my partner is gluten intolerant it was great to see a gluten free option for cake. I also tried some and it was one of the best carrot cakes I've ever eaten gluten free or not. Lovely cup of hot Americano for me and...a Victoria sponge too. Great!More

We went to this place on the 26th August myself husband & granddaughter, after looking at the outside menu we decided to eat, I then went to the table where the condiments were picked up tomato ketchup brown sauce & mayo salt & pepper placed...them down on the table, then the manager came out so I asked him if we could eat at this table it was at the back, he replied yes but you have to go to the bar to order then I noticed he was taken all the condiments away so I asked him what are you doing, well his reply shocked me he said you are stealing, I said I'm not then he returned to the restaurant, I picked up the sauces took them back inside & handed them to the waitress & told her I didn't steal them, by this time I was close to tears, then the manager came back & said that it was a miss understanding, so I asked him who said I was stealing? he told me it was a young girl at the table by the bar, as I now know is the owners daughter, I was totally shocked, now this all happened after I asked for a table so I left, then I went round to the customer service point, by this time I was crying I asked for the owner contact details but they couldn't give them to me, so I left my name 2 phone numbers it's now Friday still not heard anything from the owner???More

Garlic flatbread was like a buttery popadom, thin soup with pile of cress on top and nachos with hardly any topping. Slow service and overpriced for quality of food. Nothing more to say, wouldn’t go back

We have just eaten at the restaurant and have had a wonderful experience. One of the children has allergies and Andy was so understanding and helpful. Not only did he give us the information about the allergies but also gave us alternatives that were not...on the main children’s menu. The food was very good. Will return to the restaurant when back in the area.More

We came here for mother's day for afternoon tea. It was incredibly busy as expected but we had booked in advance and were seated in good time. Service was fine and the afternoon tea spread was brilliant but I was disgusted at the behaviour of...some of the dogs in the restaurant. One dog on the table to the left of us, weed on the floor. The owners were completely oblivious and there was a puddle of dog urine under the table and the dog was hiding under there trembling the whole time. Did the dog want to be there? Probably not. Others were barking, sat on laps eating from their owner's plates and some dogs were lying in the way (in dog beds) of wheelchairs and pushchairs. I don't understand why establishments have recently opened the floodgates to dogs as there doesn't seem to be any regulation of their behaviour. There isn't enough room for them and encouraging them to beg at the table is poor behaviour. It was a loud, busy environment and this would be stressful for any dog, no matter how well behaved. We left our dog at home because she would have hated it. It was too busy. I don't find it particularly hygienic to eat in a restaurant full of dogs, especially if they've been licking the plates or coming up to the table. Interesting that when dining with my small children, I was receiving daggers when they were getting bored (waiting for the bill which took a while) but dogs were absolutely fine to misbehave. Is this a family friendly restaurant? I don't know any more. It seems dogs are more welcome than children.More

We called in for lunch on Mother's Day (having foolishly not booked) a lovely lady called Debbie found us a table and introduced us to our waitress called Grace. Grace couldn't do enough to help us and we didn't feel rushed at all. Despite how...busy it was, the food and service were exceptional. It's extremely hard to find good staff these days but they've come up trumps with Grace. She is exceptionally well mannered and professional. Thank you for a wonderful experience.More

There seem to be a number of recent reviews of this venue that we have to say we couldn’t tie up with our lunch experience today. We thought it was quite ok, in fact a bit of allright, fairly good value and probably better than...a slightly more upmarket place (no names here) further down the A49 that we also checked out. We opted for a filled chiabatta and tea/coffee each. Service good, wait time well within what we’d expect at a busy Saturday lunchtime. Fine. We did think the coffee was a tad expensive, and the loos didn’t quite match up to everything else but were nevertheless quite acceptable.More
