Visited with my elderly mum who has mobility difficulties. We had had a very difficult and slightly traumatic day and my mum and I desperately needed a sit down and a cup of tea and something to eat as we'd had to miss lunch as well. We managed to park pretty much right outside as my mum has a blue badge, although there is parking for anyone for 30 mins. Not long but maybe enough for a cuppa and cake! The staff were very welcoming and friendly and extremely thoughtful and assured us that it would be fine to get a sandwich and a pot of tea even though it was 3.30 when we got there and they closed at 4pm. The food was lovely and fresh and the cake very good and we loved the way it was served on vintage china and a lovely proper tea pot with loose leaf tea. The tea was very good and plenty of it. They could not have been more helpful and considerate and definitely went the extra mile for us. Poppy's is a really lovely and beautifully decorated tearoom with some gorgeous vintage pieces as well as small gifts and cards. We felt it was a really special place with lovely people and lovely food and we will definitely be back now we've found it! Thank you to them for giving us a happy end to what had been a very challenging day for us.

Amazing, amazing, amazing. I took my wife and son (who has autism) for a surprise afternoon tea, I was blown away by how accommodating the staff were and the quality of the food. The owner Poppy called me before-hand and arranged for us to have a table in the top room so my son was comfortable, could see everything and checked if there was anything else she could do to make it a positive experience. She went though the sandwich and cake options making sure everything was suitable. On the day we arrived we were greeted and shown straight to our table in the stunning sun room, the very knowledgeable young man working there came straight out to get us some drinks, made a great tea recommendation (Chinese gunpowder) and checked if the volume of the classical music was ok for us. It was lovely to see every detail taken care of and nothing seemed like too much trouble. The afternoon tea was really good, loads of food, great selection and surprisingly good value, we have had much more expensive afternoon teas elsewhere that just didn't compare. My wife particularly liked the blondie and lemon drizzle. All in all it was an amazing experience, great food and service from people who clearly care that we had a good time. We have already rebooked and have been promised blondies will be on the menu again. Thank you from Rob, Tommy and Wendy

A Fantastic afternoon tea in a lovely quirky tea room with the prettiest cups saucers and plates with lovely friendly staff and great service , we could not believe the value for money you get when booking here for afternoon tea we have had afternoon tea in places where we have paid twice as much for nowhere near as good food ,everything is so fresh the sandwiches are really tasty and the bread is so nice and fresh with the most lovely fillings , the cakes and scones are something else !!! They big enough so you can eat all of them without feeling too full , when our afternoon tea was brought to us. Everything was explained to us what fillings where on the sandwiches and what each cake was rather than having to second-guess everything like we have to do another places , if you’re looking for somewhere nice to treat either yourself or someone else I would highly recommend you visit here. You will not be disappointed. We can’t wait to come back in a few weeks time .

Our visit today was a first for me and the wife. It won’t be our last. Booked in advance for 2.30 pm. Everything was ready. Then we really did enjoy our afternoon tea. We had booked one as a vegetarian and they obliged. Scrumptious sandwiches and scone with clotted cream and jam, then cakes to follow all with a wonderful cup of tea. Great value for money. Fantastic food. Absolutely lovely staff (Poppy and her Mum I believe) we will be going again

Went with my mum on a Saturday morning for a cuppa and snack. The cafe stood out from the rest of the street being bright pink and very noticeable! Small but cosy, and everyone was so friendly and happy to help. Tables were reserved but we were able to sit down at one that wasn't reserved until later. We ordered drinks and toasted teacakes. The tea was lovely (and available to buy which I noted for the future!), mum had a coffee which she really enjoyed. The teacakes were lovely and soft/fluffy and very tasty. Was offered extra hot water to top up my tea with, and I had enough milk (which so many places skimp on when bringing a pot of tea!). After we'd finished we explored the vintage shop upstairs and inevitably left with some extra goodies. So much to look at upstairs. All in all it was a lovely visit to the tearooms and the shop. First visit, but will definitely go back - would like to try more from the menu, and the afternoon tea. Highly recommend.

This is a fabulous tea rooms. The staff are really friendly and pleasant. The decor is very quaint with gorgeous china ,just as a tea shop should be. We had a high tea which consisted of sandwiches, cakes and scones and was really fresh and tasty and the tea and coffee was refreshed if required. A very nice place and would definitely recommend.

What a joy it is to drop into an enchanting tea room such as Poppy's in Northwich and enjoy home made food of such a high quality. It's such a treat and we have placed a lunch or afternoon tea in out diaries as a must each month. And Poppy and her mum are so very friendly and welcoming. You may need to book!!!

This was my second visit to Poppy Rose for afternoon tea and it was superb again. They were so careful to cater for my dietary needs (thanks girls!) and everything was top notch, from the sandwiches to the scones (with clotted cream and jam) and the cakes - all of them were delicious and moist (not easy to achieve with gluten free flour). The staff were so attentive and friendly - and what a beautiful little café it is too! We also loved having a mooch about upstairs where they have antiques and china. All in all, a lovely visit and if I lived closer, I'd be there on a regular basis (and a stone heavier)!

First visit today for high tea and we will definitely be back. Delicious food - fresh bread sandwiches, warm generous sized scones with local clotted cream, had to take cakes home as full! Staff very attentive and friendly, lovely atmosphere and reasonably priced. So great to have such a lovely tea room on our doorstep.

This is by far the best afternoon tea spot I’ve been to - everything (bar the macarons) was homemade and you could tell. There is a HUGE selection of loose leaf tea for such a small place. So fresh, delicious and the perfect amount of food too. Often vegetarian afternoon teas can skimp out, but this one was lovely - the hummus and pepper sandwich is to die for. The decor & crockery is so cute (specially the teaspoons!!). The music was also very fitting and not overly classical.

Booked for afternoon tea for me and my mum. Absolutely lovely setting and welcoming atmosphere. The tea sets and crockery were so beautiful. The selection of teas were amazing and I love the fact they were loose leaf! The afternoon tea itself was delicious (especially the sandwiches, oh and the cakes…and everything else). Congratulations to the ladies at this tearoom for making such an amazing environment. I’ll be back asap!

The perfect place for lunch or afternoon tea. Everything is freshly made and of the highest quality. My personal favourite for lunch is the chicken, pesto mayo, avocado and rocket sandwich - delicious. The scones are the best I've tasted (my friend reckons they are better than the ones at the Ritz!) and you are spoilt for choice with the cakes. Just make sure you book!

I have visited Poppy Rose on many occasions. Poppy never fails to greet us warmly. The cakes and sandwiches are delicious and the tea is perfect. It’s the attention to detail, the embroidered table cloths, beautiful china, pretty surroundings. Upstairs there are rooms of up-cycled furniture, boutique clothing (at market prices) scarves, jewellery, interiors. My daughter loves exploring the rooms. It’s a place to bring your mum, your daughter, your girlfriends when they are having a sad day to cheer them up!

I was worried my Mum's Mobility walker would be an issue when I brought her for lunch last week. She is very unsteady on her feet and would struggle without it. The staff made us so welcome and helped guide Mum up the small steps into the tea room and sat us at a table with plenty of leg room. They even made space for us to park her walker! Such lovely, thoughtful service which made Mum feel welcome and not 'in the way' (which she was worried about). Delicious sandwiches and cakes as ever. Will definitely bring her again.
