Three of us had a meal, 2 adults and 1 child. Starters were served promptly as were the drinks. Main took an awfully long time to arrive, for which the server apologised. I had lamb and it was over cooked. My wife had chicken and again was over cooked. Rice was nice. The naan bread was poor and lacked taste (coriander). The chapati was excellent. Had to chase the bill a number of times. The service charge was 12.5% and did not appear discretionary. I hate being in that situation where you are made to feel cheap if you question the service charge however the delays and length of the meal seriously did not warrant such a charge. Based on this fact alone I will not be returning. Location is nice. Popadoms and starter was good but the service and the curry really let it down. I would not therefore recommend as there are loads of other local options, just drive a bit further. We drove from Nantwich for the experience and sadly won’t be making the trip again.

On the strength of the largely positive reviews we gave The Rasoi a go for takeaway. Most of the food we ordered was good, but I have to agree with many of the other reviewers that the portion sizes were pitiful. I’ve never had a naan bread so small (about 7” long and 4” wide). Definitely not a sharer! The mixed tandoori grill was massively overpriced for what’s offered and I have to say, it was very poor and we’d never order it again. All in all, we’ll probably use here again but only if we see that their portions have got a bit bigger.

First lovely staff ,and I have enjoyed the food twice.. Saturday was a bad decision takeaways queuing out the Restaurant , sat patiently waiting for our Table , left after 45 mins after seeing "Locals" being quietly ushered to their seats.. Sometimes guys you need to say no and not overbook your Restaurant at weekends . Perhaps an Adult only Policy on your busiest nights would also be a good idea with Family offers mid-week?

The building used to be a pub, The Red Fox. It then became an Indian restaurant of varying quality. Now, under new management and renamed the Rasoi, it's taken a decisive step up in quality. Featuring unusual variants as well as classic dishes, it included "fusion" cuisine. Aiming more at the fine-dining level than the post-pint curry, it's not the cheapest (though far from the most expensive). We went for Valentine's Day, and I had the tasting menu while my partner who is vegetarian, had a Quorn Jalfrezi. This had an unexpected effect that one of my seven courses was rather large, as it was intended to be shared. The first course was a crispy puri shell, with a refreshing filling including pomegranate seeds, which I'd strongly encourage them to make a part of the standard menu. The pilau rice was absolutely perfect; fluffy, fragrant and steaming hot. The naan bread was crispy (garlic and coriander). My butter chicken course, glazed with honey, was an improvement on standard butter chicken, and I'd again suggest adding this as a permanent menu item. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and all in all we had a great evening. And as a special bonus, it's only a couple of miles away!

We like our Indian takeaways and decided to give the Rasoi a try. We were aware that reviews thought them overpriced, but if the food was good, we were happy to pay for it. Not trying again! We had no problem with ordering and collection. The food, however, was not outstanding, possibly slightly different, but definitely not a ‘OMG, this is really nice’. So, for a so so meal the cost and size of portions was simply not good value for money. Example - the ‘DeLuxe tandoori mixed grill’ a mind blowing £13.95. It was no different to other restaurants mixed tandoori, nothing deluxe unless you count a small lamb chop instead of the usual lamb kebab. The size was exactly the same if not smaller than other restaurants and it did not come with a free salad. The popadums did not come with any chutneys, they had to be bought separately for 50p and the containers the chutneys came in were a smaller version of what other restaurants provide. I didn’t know they came smaller! All in all very disappointing. The restaurant looked like a lovely setting and much improved on the previous Red Fox, but the food is just not worth the extra money. We went on a Saturday so I assume the chef was the regular one. Going back to our regular haunts in Nantwich, for the same old, same old, but at least they are as good if not better and cheaper!

We ate at the Rasoi when it first opened. We were a little underwhelmed I’m afraid - we found there to be a lack of atmosphere, the food was expensive, the portions were small. We were disappointed, we won’t be using it again - not sure where to go for our favourite Rogan Josh now!! 😩

We ordered a takeaway and originally we were told that we will have to wait 45min. Well, I’m the end it was at least an hour. When food was brought home (straight away I must say) and we do only live 2 min away, large portion off the food was nearly cold. I must say, I did ring the restaurant to tell them that there is an issue, but I could hear in lady’s tone of voice that she can’t be bothered dealing with any issues. I could hear a sigh, when she was answering the call...She even told me that I am wrong and the food isn’t nearly cold... I got to admit I just left the conversation at that. I wouldn’t usually bother to complain, but this time the food was not up to standard it should have been (meaning HOT). All I can say, not a nice experience. As a local, I probably will start to explore other takeaways in surrounding areas or ,other option, check the food before leaving the restaurant!

We ordered a chicken dish, a lamb dish and a daal and all were really nice however the portions were quite small and there was very little meat in them. They were reasonably priced however. The portions of naans and rice were also small but overpriced and we ended up spending £18 on them between three adults which is ridiculous. Finally, the mango lassi was £9 for a jug, again, overpriced! However it was very sugary and undrinkable. I mentioned it to the waitress at the end who didn't seem bothered. The setting is nice and visited because we were passing but we wouldn't come again.

Have been having takeaways all through lockdown but only went to dine in yesterday for the first time. Food was even better dining in, staff were delightful and hospitable. Asked about a starting platter, was told they’d bring it and if there was anything we didn’t like, they’d be happy to swap for something we did. Wonderful experience

First sit in meal since lockdown, good social distancing, great idea of cutlery served in sealed plastic packet & all staff wearing gloves. No issues at all on that front. Now to the food, fabulous meal, we have been having take aways through lockdown from here anyway and always excellent. Can highly recommend the chicken tarka and murgh podina, both of which we were trying for the first time, plenty to eat portion wise & both very tasty. My favourite of the meal though was the sea bass biran starter which was fantastic. And of course a pint of Cobra. Thanks Rasoi, will definitely continue to eat here & get take aways.

On Friday evening, 3 September my husband and I were driving back home after visiting friends in Wales and were travelling home on the A roads - much prettier than the motorways! We were on the lookout for a nice pub to have our evening meal in, but had not come across any that we liked the look of. As we approached the crossroads at Four Lane Ends, we spied the restaurant and decided that an Indian meal would be a lovely way to finish off our brief trip away. Upon entering the building, we were immediately struck by the welcoming ambience of the place, with comfortable seating areas and attentive staff. We ordered our drinks and once we had made our meal choices, we sat back to await being called to our table; this didn't take long at all and the waiter picked up our glasses and placed them on a tray to take them through to the table for us - a lovely touch. Our meal arrived promptly and all I can say is that it is one of the most delicious Indian meals we have had in a very long time. The flavours were distinct and clear on the palate. The menu had a very good selection of dishes and we only wish there had been more in our group, as I am sure we would have had a wider variety of flavours to enjoy. We were so glad that we didn't manage to find a pub that night as we would have otherwise missed a delight! Our only problem is that it is located about 50 miles from where we live; but I'm sure we'll be back again when we're next in the area. Highly recommended for food, service and ambience.

Was told 45 minute wait for takeaway. Arrived 45 minutes later only to have to sit their for another 1 hr and 15 minutes !!! It was like they were cooking one curry at a time or something. The woman on the front desk was working hard but the chefs must be absolutely useless. Bare in mind the restaurant was closed too, the place needs new chefs as a matter of urgency otherwise it will go down hill fast. Food sub standard too. Expensive too to top it all off

I’ve passed this restaurant hundreds of times over the years, it was previously called the Red Fox and renamed a couple of years ago as the Rasoi so yesterday my wife decided to drive the sixteen miles from our home to give it a try. On entering we were guided to a lounge area and annoyingly had to wait quite a time to asked what we would like to drink and given the menus, then a further fifteen minutes for our order to be taken then a further ten minutes to be shown to our table. But from then on everything was first rate, my bench mark lamb Madras which I judge all restaurants I eat at for the first time was delicious, my wife’s chicken tikka didn’t come with a salad which is the norm in other establishments we’ve used but was tasty. The staff were very attentive & friendly but some weren’t that knowledgeable on the menu. Overall a pleasurable experience and we will return in spite of the long drive.

I visited this restaurant a few months ago and we made a reservation. We were seated in the “waiting area” for about 30 minutes which was annoying but we gave them the benefit of doubt. Big mistake, overall I would say this was my worst experience eating out, the wait was annoying, we waited one hour for food. We waited for drinks. We just waited for everything from start to finish for a long period of time. When the food did arrive I would absolutely say that they have absolutely no idea what fine dining is. Food was bland, tiny portions, and presentation was poor. In fact it was like something warmed up from Asda. The lady owner is extremely rude and unapproachable, the staff look over worked. I would say that perhaps stop taking reservations if you cannot cater to provide an average service. I would absolutely not recommend wasting your money or time here, the prices are a joke and the service charge is higher then in London which is laughable!!

Thank you for previously deleting your review. And thank you for reviewing us again. You and your husband left without paying which at the time we let it go as we assumed that you were facing tough times. It was logged with the police, but we didn’t take it further. You are entitled to your opinion, but please remember Natalie that you are your husband were extremely rude to the staff that night and the only reason “the lady owner” in your opinion was rude was because she stood up to your husbands bullyish behaviour while you waited in the getaway car so you could leave without paying which is a criminal offence!!

Unquestionable the worse ‘Indian’ restaurant we have ever eaten at. Started out okay, ambience is nice. Restaurant is nicely styled. Starters were okay, we thought the food was a little sweet but the Duck and Lamb Chops themselves were cooked okay so we overlooked it. That’s about as positive as it got.. the ‘curries’ were absolutely disgusting! Both tasted like deserts they were that sweet. Absolutely zero spice or flavour to either. The masala tasted like sweetened Heinz tomato soup. We told the waiter, who then disappeared with both dishes only to return 10 minutes later with the same rubbish, only re-heated and with a bit of cream added to one and chilli to another. Taste was still disgusting! We sent back again. The manager came over to discuss and we explained why we couldn’t eat it. He agreed, but then argued that all of the menu is catered for ‘English people’ and it’s not really Indian food! Unbelievable. I asked him if he would eat what he served us, and he responded by saying absolutely not! He said there food is not authentic Indian and continued to argue it was our fault that we didn’t like there syrup curries! Honestly… avoid that place like the plague. We paid for our starters and got a takeaway main on the way home from a more ‘authentic’ curry house!

Thank you for your review. There was actually nothing wrong with the food, it was just not to your taste which is absolutely fine. You were offered an alternative but you declined so there was not much more we could do. I am glad that you managed to get a takeaway on the way home and you managed to salvage your evening.
