A bit more expensive than the Royal Oak Inn, which is located nearby in the heart of Cartmel village but the food and atmosphere is slightly better. Would not give it a 5 star, though as the food wasn't amazing. We both tried the venison...More

A very disappointing experience. Friendly staff, nice drinks. The food however was awful. The risotto was dry and bland, the chicken was dry. Sausage and mash was on. I would only guess that no chef was on site and the staff were just reheating. Alternatively...More

We sat in the beer garden as the weather was lovely. Delicious food - beef and Yorkshire pudding. Great portion and the Gin and Tonics were fantastic.

Loved coming for a drink. The place is very quaint. The beer garden with views of the prior just picturesque. Lovely people work here. It appeared odd the dog has access to the rear kitchen area, but I would return

A friend and I went for dinner here last night. Sat outside in the beer garden with a lovely view and fantastic weather. We both had fillet steak which was really well priced and cooked brilliantly. Very tender and tasty. Pudding was lovely as well,...More

We were staying at the Lakeland Haven Park and fancied going out somewhere for Sunday lunch. We searched family-friendly hotels in the area and found the Pig and Whistle in Cartmel, phoned ahead and booked for 5 adults and 7 children. The barmaid was very...More

A weekend in Cartmel during the races saw us visiting The Pig and Whistle for dinner on two nights as it was so good. The pub and bistro area were both very relaxed and the staff made us feel very welcome. Our food on both...More

This is a very traditional multi-room pub with a beer garden which is a relaxing alternative to the more touristy outlets closer to the Priory. It is strong on choice from the family brewer Robinson's of Stockport and had a very wide range of bottled...More

We were staying at the Lakeland Holiday Park and decided to try Cartmel for something to eat. The first pub we seen was the Pig and Whistle. When we went in we noticed a lack of space so the friendly young barman told us we...More

A traditional oak beamed pub with a real log fire! Situated in the lovely village of Cartmel, well known for its Priory, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Cartmel Races. The Pig offers an intimate dining experience in the small cosy bistro and a small bar where a range of cask and keg beers are on offer. To the rear the pub has a large beer garden and patio with views over the village and the Cumbrian fells. Kind regards Tim, Emma and the team, since September 2015.
