Stumbled upon this place having been left stranded at Dalegarth Station. Bar tender was helpful as he rang a taxi for us and established a price. Thanks Mr Bar Tender x

I met up with family recently at The King George IV for lunch and we had a great afternoon. The staff are fantastic and the food was lovely. Lovely log fire in the bar was very welcoming. Would highly recommend.

Traditional low beams stone flagged floors, good selection of local beers. Friendly staff serving good sized portions of tasty food including home made burgers & lasagne. Good place to eat after a walk in the beautiful Eskdale valley.

We called in here on a wet afternoon. Very pleasant young woman behind the bar, good log fire. Choice of local beers. Worth visiting.

Love this place, go back time and time again. Food, staff and locals are all lovely. They bend over backwards to help. Beer is delicious. Need to know any local knowledge the lovely landlord is always happy to help. Can't wait to go back.

We stayed at the same B&B as before so thought we'd visit our favourite pub from before too :) We spent the day on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, got off at The Green and walked down to the pub. We had a fantastic meal, i was very excited for my fishcakes again and they did not disappoint. After we... More

A lovely, friendly village pub which has plenty of good real ales (watch out for the 6% IPA) and lovely, home cooked food with portions meant for farmers who have been in the field all day. We can highly recommend the minted lamb shoulder which is from the owners mam and dads farm further up the Eskdale Valley. You can't... More

Great country pub with atmosphere, good beer and food in a great setting. Would have got 5 stars if staff had been more attentive (when we arrived we were one of three couples awaiting service, and had to lead an expedition into the garden to find anyone). Whilst respecting the right of owners to decorate how they wish and despite... More

We went for a family meal, ordered at the bar and the bill was around £75 including drinks, the bar lady asked if "she could take a credit card" to which I agreed to set up a tab. She took my card away and did't return with it. I asked and she informed me she had " put it in... More
