Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Called in for Sunday lunch. What a fantastic place. The carvery was superb. For £10.95 we got choice of turkey, beef, pork, ham, chicken, pie, sausages plus the usual veg and potatoes. You could have had all the choices of meat. Nicely thick cuts. Fantastic friendly staff and reasonable bar...prices. Would definitely be back when in maryport again. Also had tea there on Friday. All seemed to be home cooked. No frozen chips here.More

Such a wonderful find. Recommended by the campsite we didn’t want to go anywhere else. If you want a warm welcome, comfortable surroundings and a roaring fire this is the place. Locals and regulars happy to see you and chat also. Food is amazing, great...portions of hearty pub food like mixed grill, lasagne, roast dinners, fish and chips, burgers with a lovely desert menu too. Proper cut chips not frozen and service is quick and friendly. Really good prices too with quality ingredients.More

We popped in for Sunday Lunch. The Sunday Lunch was a carvery. The food was absolutely excellent. Can not fault the food what so ever. Very busy so lots of people agree. The only reason for dropping a star is to do with taking your...dog. The pub gets busy and has limited space. I would not recommend taking a large dog inside and also dogs are not allowed to go upstairs where the food is being served. So you need to stay downstairs where one needs to stay with the dog while the other goes upstairs to be served with the food. I would leave the dog at home to enjoy your meal here. It does state dog friendly. I would go again I can’t stress enough how great the food is.More

Popped in here for a pint before visiting the aquarium and thought the place was good so after the aquarium we went back in and tried to get some food to be told the kitchen was closed (we did not realise how long we had...been in the aquarium). Got a pint anyway and sat outside contemplating getting a Greggs instead when the blond lady behind the bar came out and said although the kitchen had closed she had checked and they could still do us a sandwich and chips so we said yes please! Tuna mayo sandwich and proper cooked chips were lovely so thank you for going the extra mile!More

We were staying in nearby Allonby and we're recommended here to eat so off we went. When we arrived it seemed very busy outside, it was a lovely night, as we entered it was full inside but we saw a sign directing us to seats...upstairs, and there were plenty, we chose a take and the boys went to order drinks and get menus. The waitress came and took our orders and when the food arrived we were not disappointed, all home made and piping hot and the portions were huge. Well with the money and drinks were reasonably priced, the staff were lovely and friendly and the service was spot on. We'll definitely be back and will definitely recommend.More
