Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Travelling through the lake district and made a detour to have lunch. We weren’t disappointed. The food was beautiful again! Our favourite place to eat in the area

I would not recommend this pub to anyone. The service was very poor, especially from the manager who was condescending, rude and inconsiderate. We ordered coffee and brunch to sit outside, but we waited for over 20 minutes for our toasted sourdough to arrive. In...the meantime, others who sat after us got their drinks and food. We spoke to three staff members who were serving outside, but none of them helped us. Eventually they served our coffees 15-20 minutes later by when our food was completely cold. We waited another 15 minutes to speak to the manager, but he never came out. When I went in to complain, he said "sorry but if you want coffee and brunch served at the same time, then this is not a place for you". This was the most disrespectful and unprofessional response I have ever received from a manager. I will never go back to this pub and I advise others to avoid it as well.More

Enjoyed a lovely evening at the Farmers Arms. Great atmosphere from the minute we walked in. Friendly, helpful staff who provided excellent service. Staff were knowledgeable about gluten free dietary requirements and I felt in safe hands. All the food was delicious and reasonably priced....Would recommend but book to avoid disappointment!More

Fancy spot. Busy with bustling staff keeping the drinks flowing. We had dinner after a lot of walking around Ulverston, we were very hungry! The menu isn't fancy, I'd describe it as good old fashioned pub grub, but the portions are terrific. Enough for two...hungry walkers. Decent beer, a bit loud on the music. But overall a good pub.More

Disappointing …. Lukewarm soup and main meal portion was totally inadequate. Place was very busy but definitely not up to their usual standard.

Booked easily online Lovely pub in the centre of Ulverston, busy, good atmosphere. Seated quickly by friendly staff and drinks order taken and swiftly delivered. Food menu varied, good pub originals, with some additional specials. Ordered traditional fish and chips (smaller portion available great if...you want a desert) and fish pie lovely individually plated and full of a variety of fish, all food piping hot. Deserts lovely fruity crème brûlée and Eton mess. Waiters and waitresses a real credit, checked if everyone was ok throughout the meal and ensured smooth efficient service Would recommend and will return.More

Great pub and loved sitting outside with the fire pit blazing away. Massive inside and really modern . We decided to venture there for breakfast the next day but we were running late due to check out at our hotel. we arrived at 11.27am serving...until 11.30 i thought we had just made it but were told they had stopped cooking breakfast. Now my wife starts saying that is not right but i cannot be bothered to argue when at the end of the day i can spend my money somewhere else. Only a tip for the owners....do not refuse customers who are right ...because they might not give you a 2nd chance.More

I’ve never met a farmer who doesn’t have a dog (husband and all his farmer friends included) but unfortunately if you’ve a dog you can’t take it in here (outside yes but not in). So, we sat outside with the fire on but on our...mid October day it was pretty chilly - we tried the heaters but they didn’t click on. The food was actually very good but we’d not return as sitting outside, unless it’s a nice day, was just too cold. It’s massive inside so it’s a real shame they can’t have a dog friendly area on the ground level by the bar.More
