Beautiful resturaunt and lovely food. However was sat at a table which is basically by the toilets, the same place the staff take the dirty plates back and the wine fridge which the staff are regularly in and out of. Totally unacceptable to have a table there especially in the current climate and also it's below standard when paying the same prices as everyone else. There were lots of different people walking past no masks being worn except for staff. Booked the table and at no point were we informed that there was a time limit on the table. We finished our meal asked if we wanted dessert at which point we didn't and then was immediately informed they needed the table in 15 mins but no rush. What if we had wanted dessert would we have had to gulp it down? Also there were other tables in that had been in before us and hadn't been asked to leave. Also I'm not 100% on the covid rules but pretty sure it's not business as usual and there should be some effort to move tables apart. Where we were sat we were back to back with another table no gap and same throughout the restaurant. Shame really as it could have been a really nice experience. I don't blame the young staff who were really friendly it's the owners.

We're sorry you feel a little disappointed in regards to your recent visit.
However, your table was not next to the toilets, that's impossible as the toilets are situated down a corridor, where there is another door leading to the kitchen where staff must return used plates etc. The wine fridge is in the restaurant, a meter from the nearest table. ALL of our tables are placed one meter apart completely in line with the current Covid Guidelines.
Our staff do wear masks, as you rightly pointed out but customers, including yourselves and your children are not required to do so. We hope you can see where your comment could be construed as hypocritical?
As with all restaurants we turn tables and since you decided that you didn't want a sweet then that table, in due course becomes available. As you could see we were incredibly busy. Had you wanted a sweet it would have been fine and we would have made another table available.
If you are unsure (and have said) on the Covid rules then please do not make unfounded comments as these can be extremely detrimental for a small business, especially when we are following all the guidelines that we have been given by our Local Council and the Government.
We are very glad you enjoyed our food. Our aim is make everyone's evening as enjoyable as possible. We always appreciate constructive criticism, it helps us learn and build our business.
Thank you.

Amazing food, very visually pleasing too. inside the restaurant was very modern and also gave off a good vibe. also very large portions sizes, came here with my family of 5 and we all had pizzas. when they came they were perfect, tasted just like a real Italian pizza!. loads of toppings but not over the top, staff were very polite and patient (children were present) and also AMAZING table service, always asking if we were okay, if we wanted more drinks, if they could get us anything, we also had starters and they came within 5 minutes, when they were cleared away it was only about another 5 minutes before the mains were out. the deserts were lovely! so big we had to take it home!
lovely place
highly recommended for families or even dates!
will 100% visit again. :)

A great restaurant
We booked in advance
Arrived on time, seated in the basement for the first time. It transpired that a couple of big parties had booked in upstairs. Nothing wrong with the basement area, well decorated & warm, just watch your head on way up and down the stairs.
Misto board to start. Food was good, portion size was good too.
Mains
Pizza Betulla for me.
Spaghetti polpette for Mrs James.
Dinner was accompanied by a cheeky 2018 Australian Chardonnay by the name of little rascal
Cheerful & efficient service in a busy restaurant is always a positive.
Great food in a stylishly decorated restaurant. We left happy

This restaurant is awful, been here a handful of times and this time was awful all of the staff are too young and would rather be in the kitchen than anywhere else at one point the chef brought my food out?? I sat and waited nearly 45 mins for a garlic bread? One young girl with blonde hair Lily I think her name was. Was disinterested and was sam right rude. This is what happens when you hire younger girl I suggest getting some older waitresses in that can hold a convocation and not hide in the back.

Sorry you had a bad experience on this occasion. In defence of the staff, every young person has a right to work and has to start somewhere.
However, this of course doesn't excuse them hanging around in the kitchen. Thank you for highlighting this issue, I can assure you that this matter is being dealt with.

It started at the drinks order being taken, the waiting staff hadn't heard of an Aperol Spritz, strange with it being a staple of Italian drinks culture. We just had to make do with the one we had in our rental prior to getting to Betulla's.
The antimisto board really should be renamed Mezze. Chorizo, Houmous, Smoked Salmon have no place on it. Where's the Bresola, Salami, Nduja, Artichoke?
The mains were disappointing and interesting at the same time.
My wife had Lasagne, just the one sheet and basically Ragu gravy. An Italian Lasagne holds itself when cut, this you could swim in. Another in the party had Chicken Arrabiata which was ridiculously overly chillied. This went back to the kitchen for ricotta to be run through it to calm it down; according to the waitress, this is common practice.
Some of us had Pizza, OMG. It was a cross between a Chicago deep pan, slathered in cheese, with raised sides, with a thinish base. As far away from a Neapolitan pizza in Rome as you could achieve. The Garlic bread with cheese was just the same. It took a while to work out the taste, after a while the dough/cheese reminded someone of a Pizza Hut stuffed crust pizza. The Mozzarella was the nasty block danish type rather than Italian, just swimming in grease.
Desserts and coffee were also of an equally poor standard. The Tiramisu was certainly no "pick me up", tasteless, very soggy, and didn't appear to be made with Mascarpone.
By far the worst food experience we had in the Lake District, service was average, staff hadn't been trained properly, so we had to keep asking for drinks/being dry inbetween new ones being served. It wasn't full the night we were in.
Now, having been on holiday in Italy more times than I can remember I might have been spolit in the past. We probably eat Italian twice a week, have a great local deli, we have a pizza oven, so whilst not an connosieur I'd class myself as enthusiastic amateur. It would probably be good if the Chef visited the country as I still cannot work out how this place is a thing.

We ordered 1 large pizza and a regular garlic bread on a Sunday night via Barrow Eats. Whilst the app told us a 1 hour wait, once our money had been taken we were then told 2 hours.
Noticing the restaurant closed at 8, we rang at 7:45 to make sure our food was on its way, especially as we had now been waiting for nearly 2 hours. We were informed it was due at 8.
8:10 arrived and so my partner called again to be told it was on its way.
8:20 my partner rang again but no one answered because it's closed.
8:45 we finally got our pizza after contemplating making our own tea after all. The delivery person told us he only picked up at 8:20, making the earlier declaration of 'it's on its way' a flat out lie.
If we had been dining in, we'd have demanded a refund for waiting 2hours 45 mins for one pizza and one garlic bread.
Suffice to say, we will stick with Dominos!

We are very sorry regarding your experience, we really are trying our best from changing from a restaurant to a takeaway, it may seem like an easy transition to others but it isn't.
We're not sure if you are aware that when you place an order it comes to us via our Barrow Eats machine. we then either then simply accept or reject. No money is taken nor received by us at all. ALL emails, monies etc are handled by Barrow Eats and them alone. We don't receive any money for a week as transactions are completed by Barrow Eats.
Our app will not have told you neither a one or two hour wait. the most we can increase the time by is 45 minutes, for example should a customer order at 6pm and we cannot take the order until 6:30 then we increase the time as so. We cannot make any other amendments at all to the order. The customer is then emailed by Barrow Eats to confirm this time. It is the responsibility of the customer to check on the status of their order.
Your order was for 8pm, therefore your order was 45 minutes late and not 2 hours and 45 minutes as you have stated. We are sorry that you had to wait for this time.

Table was so sticky that our plates stuck to it. To be fair the table was probably clean but the varnished wood had become tacky ( possibly due to cleaner).
We ordered our starter and mains which took a while to the point that as our starter plates were being cleared away we were asked if we would like desert.
We explained that we were still waiting for our main meals to arrive.
My husband said that his Carbonara tasted purely like pasta and garlic. To be honest the atmosphere was awful. It seemed like it was towards the end of the evening shift and staff were clearing and cashing up. Conversations were held over the table we were sitting at. Not good.

First meal out since beginning of year and so disappointing. Instead of quick lunch it took 2 hours. Service was atrocious It took 20 minutes after ordering desert to be told it was not available. Wish we had not gone as people sat at tables with no safe distance between and were even given cutlery unwrapped!!

Visited tonight looking forward to a nice Italian meal. We ordered carbonara as our first preference “ravioli” was not available. The food presented looked unappetising and bore no resemblance to the description on the menu, as the taste rendered the dish inedible. The service left a lot to be desired. We had to request Parmesan and black pepper to accompany the meal which did nothing to improve the taste. When the waiter cleared the table he failed to make any enquiry as to our dining experience and did not acknowledge the full plates of food returned, other than to ask did we require our food to be ‘boxed to take away’. Needless to say we shall not be visiting again nor recommending others to do so.

I'd say good rather than very good but most definitely better than average in terms of my rating.
Our sharing platter to start was delicious, all very fresh, good variety and very yummy! We both enjoyed our mains, we both had pasta and I really enjoyed my tagliatelle. I thought the menu was very varied too - plenty to choose from.
We were seated in the basement and i'm not sure if this resulted in our being a little forgotten about as I would say service was a little slow and we felt a little neglected - took much longer than i'd have liked to place our order, no one came to ask us for drinks we were sat waiting to order for too long then when i went upstairs to the loo the main restaurant was far from full.
Nevertheless we enjoyed our meal and would definitely go back again.

It was my daughters birthday and she had asked for Betullas as her birthday treat. Booked in advance knowing it would be busy during the eat out incentive. We have eaten many times at the restaurant before lockdown and used the takeaway service around 8 times so we really do love the food here. We arrived to our booking on time and took our seats. Ordered drinks and these were quick to arrive. By 5.15 we had ordered our meals. Meals arrived within 20 mins and we enjoyed these even my 7 year old managed to eat all of hers this time. We were offered the dessert menu and the girls ordered their desserts and my partner also. I was too full. Desserts arrived although my daughters brownie was missing the icecream that was advertised on the menu. My 7 year old shared some of her icecream with her as we didnt want to make a big fuss over a scoop of icecream. Whilst still eating one of the waitresses came over and handed us the bill and asked us to hurry and leave as the table was needed. I didnt think this was acceptable given that having children present that take slightly longer to eat their meals. We hadn't even asked for the bill yet. There had been another group in around the same time and they were still eating and drinking their bottles of wine and I did not hear them being asked to hurry. Anyway took that as a sign to bugger off and got the kids to wolf their puds down. Noticed we were charged for 2 of each drink and an extra meal which we had rectified and then we left. No thanks or anything. I know that it is busy during the incentive but maybe the hospitality could have been managed better and with some better manners.

Me and my partner had pre-ordered one of the Valentines options that Betullas were offering.
Was delivered at the time that we chose, the food was hot and it was absolutely delicious. Plenty of it as well, far too much for 2 of us (but leftover lunch is always welcomed)
It made our valentines as special as we could of made it in the current circumstances!
Had previously had a bad experience but thought we would try again and it must of just been an off day (that we all have!) Because it was beautiful and I couldn't fault it one bit. Homemade sorbet was the icing on the cake!
Thank you Betullas!

I booked a table here for a lunchtime and I was really looking forward to an Italian pasta dish. I was disappointed to see only 4 pasta dishes, 2 with meat and 2 without (I’m veggie). The 2 veggie options weren’t great so I ended up with 2 starters. Service wasn’t great, I had to ask for the bill then ended up going to pay at the bar as they didn’t come back over. It was cold as they left the door open for ventilation. I’d go again at night as the main menu looks good, but never again at lunchtime . Also, no deals so £11 for pasta at lunch is expensive when other Italians generally do cheaper deals then .

Sorry you were disappointed Masie. We have tried to cover all areas at lunchtimes from jacket potatoes, pasta's, pizzas, ciabattas, salads plus 7 different starters, many of these veggie. Obviously our evening menu is larger.
We do, from time to time also have a special on at lunchtimes too. It may have been that we were busy, we do generally ask that diners are patient and do not go to the bar as table service is available.

Thoroughly enjoyed a Friday evening meal with my boyfriend. All members of staff were happy to help with anything yet also mindful of being a romantic meal and not over imposing.
I was impressed at the seafood spaghetti and the amount of seafood you had in the dish, I was defeated (which is very rare!) but the food was all absolutely amazing.
Lovely little find with a romantic hidden setting downstairs :)

I came here last week and I can only say this eating experience reminded me of my grand tour of Italy in February.
I had the della cassa pasta which as soon as it arrived in front of me made my mouth begin to water and my companions had pizzas which they said were delicious and perfectly cooked. The front of house staff were friendly and attentive.
Can't wait to come back again on my next visit.
