Trying to get something to eat while on a day out visit just before Christmas. We explained we had a limited time due to having to catch a train home. The staff were very helpful and we ordered a main course and 3 beers all of which arrived very quickly. We had ample time to eat and make the train. Shame the train didn't arrive and we spent more time on the station than in the restaurant. The food was good and the staff were great. i can see us going again this time planning better.

We visited for a takeaway whilst staying near Ulverston, I have read the recent negative reviews which seem to focus on the eat out to help out scheme but as I was getting a takeaway I was worried about the scheme. The staff were very friendly on arrival and helpful as my daughter needed a gluten free curry, they advised me what was suitable for her and took my order so I could go back to my pint in the pub next door, I returned 30 minutes later and our food was ready. We took it back to our accommodation and the food was delicious. I would recommend the Aroma Special curry, filled with chicken tikka and lamb tikka. The food was plentiful, bread was fabulous and if in Ulverston again I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

We arrived on spec at 5pm on a Friday night and had no difficulty getting a table, though several were reserved for larger groups. The Happy Hour Meal at £14.99 a head is excellent value with well sized portions. Poppadoms and pickles, starter, main and either rice or bread. The food was delicious and nicely presented, and the staff all very friendly. A real pleasure which, living locally, we will repeat.

A family party of six, We arrived without booking but were seated with no problem. Staff were polite. At the time we arrived there were only a few tables occupied but whilst we were waiting for our food, which took quite a while, the restaurant filled up. I suppose this was why the order took a long time. Or that they didn't have enough staff to cater for a party of six Food: My wife and I had Biryani which were tasty but only warm, as the restaurant was now busy I didn't send the food back as I didn't fancy it being microwaved. Drinks: Two Cokes, six Orange juices and a bottle of Pinot Grigio. We had ordered two glasses of Pinot in the first round but when we ordered the same for the second round we were told that the first waiter had made a mistake and that it was only sold by the bottle. We agreed to accept the rest of the bottle and pay the "bottle price" as long as the first two glasses were struck from the bill. The Bill: As we were finishing our main course the waiter approached and said that they needed the table. The "scribbled" bill arrived I felt it was more expensive than I expected and I needed clarification on what some of the items on the bill were, so I went to the till to get this and pay. Drinks were just down as "drinks". The cashier explained what the various items were but when I challenged the cost of the drinks he told me that we had ordered Kingfisher, wine and orange juice to which I said that we had two cokes, six small orange juices and a bottle of wine. He kept repeating the Kingfishers. Eventually he called the waiter over and we went back to the table to clarify what we actually ordered. He eventually recalculated the bill... Original bill over £120, new bill £94. Check your bill and question anything that you don't understand.

There was only one major issue with our meal, the chicken and fish were over cooked and tough, however the sauce was tasty. The onion Bhajis were perfect. The service was absolutely shocking, the staff were rude and did not listen to what we ordered. I asked for a bottle of mineral water and received a glass of white wine, then after explaining they then brought two bottles of mineral water. (Which is fine because they didn’t even charge us for any of the drinks anyway in the end - very unorganised) One drink didn’t arrive which we had to ask for again. The waiters were rushing, and nearly dropped a plate in front of me. We were quite lucky, sat down and got our order taken. The two other tables on either side of us however had been sitting for an hour and half before they even had their starters. Which means we were served our drinks, starters and mains before these other two tables had even received their starters. I could hear one of the tables saying they had been there nearly two hours without any food. Really unorganised service, and it appeared they were prioritising take out orders over the restaurant. The toilets were disgusting, and the rest of the restaurant did not look that clean either. Although they did have hand sanitisers available and most of the staff were wearing face coverings. The staff looked to be rushing constantly which explains why they were forgetting about people’s orders. I wouldn’t say they were under staffed either, they had two waiters taking orders and two their staff members bringing the food out. It did not seat a lot of people so it was very unusual why they were so rushed and unorganised. I would not recommend this restaurant at all.

The food was delicious but I was sorry to see waiters with masks around chins and also purposely taking them off in order to speak to me. Takeaway could also be safer since currently you are required to walk through a room of unmasked people sitting quite close together with waitstaff going back and forth and food not coming out when promised. There is no room to social distance where you are supposed to sit and wait for takeaway. Please, Aroma, save lives--put takeaway by the door if you can, and wear masks

Initial impression was poor as the guy taking phone orders for take-aways had trouble understanding English. When I arrived, service was very poor. No smile. No hello. No thank you for your order. Very curt. Food was OK. Lamb was tender and the chicken wasn't bad. Sauces were a little bland for our taste but actually tasted better on reheating the next day when we polished off the leftovers.

We came here with the family last night for a family meal. You can tell when a restaurant is top notch when it’s busy and full with great atmosphere, we didn’t mind the wait - after all this isn’t a fast food establishment. Food was delightful, full of flavour in each dish. The menu has a wide variety of mouth watering dishes. Service was warm and friendly. This is by far the best Indian compared to the one up the road. My new favourite local(ish) Thanks Aroma, highly recommended!! We will definitely be back xx

Staff very pleasant, surroundings nicely decorated. Most tables full with happy people, which gave a good feeling. Unfortunately despite the waiter being attentive the food was lacking in taste. Onion Bhaji was very bland in taste, even my companion who cannot take spice managed to eat a part without effect. Overall the food was presented well but unfortunately was bland and not up to our experiences of other Indian restaurants throughout the country. Even grocery retailers food had more flavour. Sadly disappointing as the hotel had suggested this restaurant.

We visited Aroma yesterday as a group of 17 and whilst the food was nice and the waiting staff were generally good, we had over £40 of extra things added to our bill that we neither ordered or received. Upon checking our bill we discovered two extra mains, additional sides and a cheese and garlic naan priced at £7.95 (when the others are all around £2-£3). Also charged £4 for a glass of soda water until this was raised with management. None of these extra things were ordered and as a large group it felt like they thought they could just add these things without anyone noticing! It spoilt what should have been an enjoyable meal. We won’t be going again if we return to the Lake District and wouldn’t recommend this restaurant as a result.

We are here this evening and have been a regular for the paper couple of years on a Saturday night. I booked a table as usual we ordered our food and drinks no problem. We were eating our popadums and 3 times they tried to take our plates away. My beer was taken away when I had half left. Then our starters were given to us and again they hovered over us waiting to take our plates and again twice they asked if they could take our plates while we were still eating the second they were taken the mains came out. We were a family of 3 ( 2 adults and a 16year old) there were other groups in who were loud and swearing and they were not rushed out, another family came and sat next to us only a few minutes after us and they were only on their starters when we had been rushed through all 3 courses. We were in and out on 45 mins a really terrible experience especially when we are regulars. I’m afraid we won’t be going back as the service was so bad and when we did tell any of the staff they all just laughed at us.

You do realise we have CCTV cameras throughout the restaurant that helps verify false/misleading reviews! As you were the only table of 3 on this particular night with a 16 year old, it was easy to locate the footage of your visit. So thanks for mentioning that. You say you were in and out in 45 mins, however the CCTV tells me different and it was actually 1 hour 11 minutes you were at our restaurant which is the average time for a table of 3 based on what you ordered. You said your beer was taken away when you had half left. This is incorrect as I can see on the CCTV footage that your first round of beer was EMPTY when it was taken away. After your partner finished his beer, YOU gave your second round of beer to your partner after you had drank half of it. He finished it and left the empty beer glass on the table as you all left. You were sat with your back towards the entrance of the restaurant so when our staff were simply doing their job of greeting customers as they entered - this does not mean they were hovering around you to take your plates away! Maybe if you weren't too busy on your phone 90% of the time since the moment you sat down, you would have realised everything going on around you and that our staff were doing their job rather than hovering to take your plates. Also, I find it extremely hard to believe that “ALL” our staff would just laugh at you if you did raise any issues to them like you say. CCTV does not show any staff laughing at you! Going off the CCTV evidence and due to the fact we had no other complaints on this night, we can conclude that this review is full of lies aimed to damage our reputation for no reason. Luckily we have a strong and loyal customer base who will see past this and continue to use us.

We’re staying in Haverthwaite for the week where the local options for takeout for limited, however Aroma was only a 15 minute drive away and worth every second. We had sheek kebab and chicken pakora to start, with chicken madras and butter chicken for our main and it was incredible. Plenty of chicken pieces in everything, the poppadums were light and delicious. Definitely worth a visit. Plus, at the minute if you order to pick up via phone, you get 20% discount!

Visited Aroma last Tuesday on a little break with my partner. Booked for 630 and the early special was between 5 and 630 so we thought we would have missed out but as we looked at the menus one of the staff came over and asked if we were interested in it. He explained it was cash only and we could have anything off the menu which we thought was more than generous. Food arrived in very good time and was lovely. We paid £50 including a tip for Poppadoms, starter, main, sides and two drinks. Excellent value for money.

Disappointed in the service as a whole. After having made a reservation for 18:30 in advance and arriving on time, we sat down and placed our orders. However, it took over 1 hour 30 minutes for the food to arrive! The food itself was ok, nothing special. Garlic Naan was subpar. Waiter staff were not nice to us, placing plates/cups aggressively repeatedly. Receipts are handwritten and difficult to understand. We were nearly overcharged by £10, and the only reason this was caught was because we tallied the total ourselves. Reading handwritten receipts was difficult, although wait staff did take the time and were willing to correct their error. There are charges associated with paying by card, so cash was better. Overall a disappointing visit, I would not recommend this to others. The food was ok, but the wait combined with the attitude of staff made the evening unpleasant.

Thanks for taking time to write your review and mentioning the food was satisfactory. Looking at the CCTV footage during your visit of a party of 14, we can verify that your food started to come out 1 hour after you settled in and placed your order not “over 1 hour 30 minutes” as you stated in your review. What was the need to exaggerate this wait time? We are not a fast food establishment so naturally there will be a wait time for a large party during a busy time if you want quality food cooked fresh from scratch.

First arrival stood wondering when someone will welcome us.. But once sat down everything was pleasant. Staff were quite attentive and the food was flowing at a good pace. We got a set meal and could swap some items which was amazing value. This doesn’t get thrown around much but this was probably the best curry experience I’ve had. The lamb vindaloo was amazing. All the sides and sundries were faultless also. Was so good we even had left overs to throw together for breakfast! Why not.. When we wanted to pay they disappeared again but we found a staff member and had nice chat whilst paying. Would definitely recommend because it wasn’t our first choice as other restaurants were booked up, but I’m glad they were now as this was exceptional.
