A v busy Saturday night in February says it all really.
Table for 2 booked earlier in the week.
As is standard, drinks served at a well stocked bar whilst table is being prepared. Couple of Estella Damn bottles at a very reasonable £3.80 per bottle were the selection.
Handed a menu and advised that 7 picks normally suffice for a table of 2. Good advice.
We picked
Large bread & dips
Olives
Calamari
Pork belly
Piri chicken
King prawns
Chorizo
Brilliantly presented over 4 services. Food looked and tasted fabulous.
We enjoyed a gin & tonic plus a rum & ginger beer with dinner.
Service was brilliant, a calm team in a busy restaurant is always good to be around as a diner, especially when advised they were a member of staff down. You’d never have known.
Great value, great food, great drinks and a wonderful team
Restaurant is a must do visit every time we’re in Ulverston

We are now loyal customers of this lovely restaurant and the staff always make us feel so welcome. The food is incredibly good with fantastic combinations of flavour in every dish. The staff are really passionate about what they serve and have created a really enjoyable atmosphere. We just feel lucky to have such a wonderful place to eat so close to home. Our favourite dishes are the belly pork with fennel onions, the halloumi (not sure how they get it to taste that amazing) and the calamari but never not enjoyed a dish.

A little different than the norm based on tapas style dinning. Nice selection of dishes cooked fresh and brought to the table by friendly staff who explain exactly what each dish contains.
Not an inexpensive meal but we considered it value for money and when we visit the area again will try to get a booking which is essential as the restaurant is very popular.

We randomly visited Ulverston this weekend and when checking into our hotel we asked for recommendations of where to eat, the first option was here so we called ahead and luckily managed to get a table.
We were greeted with a warm welcome from Lucy who showed us to our table. We ordered a bottle of wine to share which was lovely, and there was ice water already on the table for us.
Due to Covid they had a reduced menu of 6 tapas dishes and then 2 special dishes for that night, so we ordered 7 dishes to share which Lucy advised was a good amount of food. A nice mix of meat, fish and vegetables.
We have had tapas many times in different places and our initial concern was where are all the dishes going to go, as our table was quite small, but they thought ahead and brought the dishes out in stages. First was the halloumi which was the perfect start and didn’t last long, then came calamari, peri peri mackerel, a potato dish, chorizo , beetroot, there was just one left and as people who like to save the best until last we were in for a treat, out came the sizzling pork belly, wow! The perfect mix of meat, fat and crispy crackling, with the first mouthful we literally creamed our knickers!! It was sublime!!
All in all it was a great meal, all of the staff were excellent especially Lucy who spoke to us throughout the night to ensure we were happy with everything, there was a nice feel to the restaurant, good background music and everyone was clearly enjoying their time there, families, couples, friends all laughing and smiling throughout.
We highly recommend having a meal here and would certainly go again.

Very tasty tapas and great service (it was quite quiet - the night of the European Cup Final). It was recommended that we had 7 tapas which was about right for 2 of us. With a bottle of wine (£20) and cup of coffee the bill came to £70.

We tried the pop up roast dinner today and what a treat! From the Yorkshire pudding and interesting and tasty dips to start, to the lamb shawarma main course and the baclava and cardamom infused Arabic coffee to finish, was nothing short than a culinary triumph. We also tried a Bloody Mary and that was simply delicious.
We really can not recommend this restaurant enough, we’ve eaten here a few times and have always been impressed. The service is very friendly and the music and atmosphere creates a lovely dining experience, particularly considering the current situation.
Top class.

First takeaway (from anywhere) in 4 months ...almost worth the wait! Good online ordering system for a set day and time to collect and simple menu. All delicious, all fresh, and what's great is the "stew" type dishes (chicken & chorizo, and lamb tagine) come cold for you to heat up when you want so you could get the food one day and keep in the fridge til the next. Love the beetroot salad AND the fact that you can order the vegan version without goats cheese...(not a vegan but not into goats cheese at all!) And they even give you the option of waiting outside for your food to be brought out to you, rather than having to go inside. Ulverston is very lucky to have this place.

Although we've visited L'al through lockdown for drinks / bar snack or to have a couple of their classic plates, and we frequently order their takeaway buns (and prior to that the takeaway boxes) it's a long time since we've sat down properly and had a "normal" L'al experience.
Firstly, with covid of course they're taking exceptional precautions; you get your table for an allocated slot. If you and your party are planning a big night out, it's up to you to ensure you've planned it properly as you will need to vacate your table after 90 mins / 2 hours. The staff wore face masks and hand sanitiser was available throughout.
The food: As mentioned, it's our first time back in L'al since they started slowly reintroducing their menu and it was awesome to be able to try a few new flavours again. I'm vegetarian and lactose intolerant, but I'm never made to feel like a "picky customer" as there's loads for me to eat.
We had flatbreads with dips, beetroot, heritage carrots, potatoes; husband also had pork belly and sea bass. Every dish was spot on.
Staff: Sarah, Lucie and Will looked after us last night - they're brilliant, they know exactly what they're talking about and can answer any questions you have about the menu or the massive drinks list
Last night was great for us as it's the first time since lockdown started that we both felt like we were having a normal, relaxed meal out. It was exactly what we both needed and a great birthday treat :)

As a travelling unicycle salesman I visit many different restaurants and often dine solo, that said, the food at Lal Churassco was wonderful. Simple yet delicious and as fresh as the price of bel-air! When you add to this the attentive service I received from Jayde & Sarah in the bar and restaurant, the experience was second to none. An unexpected, yet welcome, surprise on an otherwise dreary Tuesday pedalling my wares (pun intended!).
In summary, Lal Churassco is a casual dining masterpiece that I would not hesitate to recommend to anybody that wants great food, from an ever-changing menu, in a vibrant and modern setting seldom seen outside of cities.

Bit disappointed! We went with friends we had not seen for a while but found music so loud we could not hear each other speak. Portions of each tapas were very small and expensive. Certainly not good value for money. The night before we went to top quality Manor House but meal here turned out to be more expensive.

Had a meal here last night with my vegan daughter and wow, what a great place! The staff were so helpful with what was suitably vegan and what could be adapted. She had hummus and flatbread, beetroot and seeds without the goats cheese and a jackfruit dish made specially for her. We shared a breadboard with vegan dips. I had the beetroot with the goats cheese, halloumi with orange sauce and the best calamari I have had in a long time. Tasty mocktails too, and with one beer the total came to £60. It was a Thursday evening and the place was buzzing, great atmosphere, highly recommend

Enjoyed our meal here last week but owing to the current situation the menu was quite restricted. What we had was very pleasant but we would probably have chosen dishes much more attuned to our taste had the normal menu been available. I would have liked a real ale or two on the bar, not just rather high priced bottles

Fourth visit here for us. Brought some friends from the South this time. NEVER DISAPPOINTS! Arrived half hour late due to my error with reservation time and despite our table not available they accommodated us. Superb food, real taste sensation. This place is an utter treat and contrast to the mediocre and uninspiring food in a lot of restaurants these days. Cocktails are wonderful and spot on, created by great cocktail waitress/mixologist. The maitre'd is both engaging, helpful and all the staff are attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes. Highly recommend.

Having moved back to Ulverston from London where I ate out all the time, it's really noticeable how brilliant L'al Churrasco is - as good as the best places in the capital, and head and shoulders above any restaurant you'll find in Ulverston or anywhere within driving distance.
The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed, staff are super friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, the cocktails and other drinks are excellently curated and made with fresh ingredients (perfect margaritas) and the food is bloody gorgeous!
These guys care about food. Top quality ingredients, surprising combinations that you wouldn't think to do at home but always work brilliantly (it's awful when you get weird combos that don't) and each dish is explained in detail with care and precision.
My friend is gluten free and that was readily catered for with lots of nice options and nothing too much trouble.
Massive praise to the team for keeping providing top notch service and food ever since they opened, we're really lucky to have this amazing business in the town.
