Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Came in last week for a drink during the lovely weather and well it was wonderful. This pub has got some lovely customer service from there waiters and this makes it. We were able to have some Coca Cola and it was lovely. I would...highly recommend for anyone passing through Ashbourne wanting a quick drink or a small bite to eat.More

Went to try the Tapas night and were not dissapointed. Could have been in Spain, if it wasn't for the British weather!. Great choice of dishes and good portions. Tuesday night, and a busy restaurant/bar which made for a good atmosphere. Will be back again.

Visited The Greenman for the first time on Friday 5th April. Had a lovely welcome from Pindar. The atmosphere was buzzing, so pleased that we booked a table for 6.30 pm. Had a couple of glasses of bubbly then shown to our table. To start...we had tempura prawns and spicy chicken wings which were very tasty. The steaks which followed were absolutely superb - we both agreed they were the best rib eye steaks we’ve eaten for a very long time, if ever! Our waiter was very attentive and made sure that everything was to our satisfaction. The experience was so good that we returned two days later for the Sunday lunch. I had the belly pork and my wife had the roast beef - both excellent. Thank you Paul for the great service.More

compliments to the Greenman and it's staff for our family get together. The staff and Alice in particular made our experience THE BEST!!!   On the 6th of April 2024 9 family members of all ages  came from Manchester, Kettering and Leicester to meet in the...middle,  as our family have spread about a bit now.  We came to the greenman for our lunch.  Not only was the food amazing, tasty and presented well but Alice our waitress was amazing! (Although she couldn't muster up a pie as it wasn't pie Thursday lol) Alice was kind, funny, friendly  and very helpful with the menu, she  showed us  service with a smile at its very best.  Thank you all for a great experience and we will be back!!    Kindest regards  Mandy Johnson & family More

Came in by chance after a days walking and were very well looked after. High quality ingredients cooked beautifully and tasted amazing! The staff were efficient, attentive but not intrusive and very professional. Would highly recommend The Greenman - well done to you all for...making our visit a memorable one, for all the right reasons! Sue GMore

Stumbled upon this restaurant after a walk. Initially, the welcoming was warm, however, the meal was mediocre with watery gravy that ruined the pork crackling. After thanking the staff for our meal and mentioning that the crackling was spoiled, the chef made a comment that...we overheard which really ruined the atmosphere. The chef could be heard telling us where to go with our feedback which was SHOCKING! We were also told that he only works on Sundays which again is not acceptable - passing comments about paying customers during service is poor regardless of the day of the week. Hats off to the young waiter who remained professional throughout, shame about the chef and the manager who clearly made her annoyance clear too by storming into the kitchen - very unprofessional. We would not return.More

3 couples away for weekend and visited Saturday 30th. Went to bar and got drinks. Tried to charge £14.50 for a cocktail that was £9 on menu. Starters came, calamari was very good, mozzarella dipped ok but the slider was poor. Had sliders b4 and...you 2 or 3 little burgers this was one small burger for £8. Mains were 3 rump steaks which were very good but had to ask twice for steak knives and salt and pepper, bangers and mash had very little gravy and therefore was dry. Chicken burger was good but normal burger was very dry, my wife said it was worst pub burger she has ever had, small and dry and not very tasty. We didn't have deserts. Finally the bill. Tried to charge us for a cocktail that had been paid for at the bar and also tried to charge £19.50 for the steaks that were £18.50. This was put right when we pointed it out. Not normally one to complain but hopefully this will help improve things.More
