We spent to weekend in ashbourne at a cottage with my family. We visited the coach and horses on the Friday evening, the meals were all delicious. The pub was toasty warm overall we had a lovely evening.

My wife and I had dinner here on a Friday evening while on holiday in the area. The food was really good. We shared the deli board for starters, the baked tomatoes and brie went down really well with the more usual deli fare. Our mains of Barnsley Chop and Lamb were perfectly cooked, and accompanied by plenty of vegetables... More

Excellent food and beer, even when the pub was full on a Friday evening, the food was delivered quickly and well cooked. The staff had a smile and made us all most welcome. We enjoyed it some much we came back the following evening - I even had the same dish, it was great again! We will be back!

We were renting south from Dovedale. Our lunch was first class, the service was friendly and very efficient. As we had our dog we sat outside and still received first class attention.

I was recently in Derbyshire with my partner and, whilst there, we paid the latest of a few visits to the Coach and Horses. As had happened previously we were made most welcome in this cosy, traditional pub. Having got our drinks at the bar we went through into an adjoining room where we had a table booked. My partner... Last week we dined there for 3 nights during our stay in Derbyshire. On each occasion we really enjoyed the food, and Wendy who looked after us was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. Also very helpful re Gluten Free Food.

It was well reviewed in the holiday cottage I and three women friends were renting and we were not dissapointed . Nice ambience, good service and excellent food . One friend's 'fish platter' in particular looked good She said it was . Baileys Creme Brule and the profiteroles were lovely.

We called in on the off chance and found an absolute gem. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendlier. The food was exceptional, especially the Wild Mushroom starter. The pub looks small from the outside but has plenty of tables, some in the bar and some in the dining rooms.

Given the smell, everything from kitchen is plunged into a palm oil deep fat frier. Fishcakes seemed to be prepared from sawdust and glue. Salad apologetic. Very disappointing, clearly a complacent effort benefitting from a tourist location. In short, a rip off.

Just moved back to the area and re-visited this place for the first time in 2 years. It was as superb as it used to be. A lovely atmosphere, great choice, very tasty food and great service.
