We had a fabulous lunch to celebrate a family Birthday. The food was truly excellent and we loved the Tarte Tatin. The restaurant was light and airy with a good ambiance and the friendly staff went out of their way to ensure that we had...everything we needed, supplying little extras for the small children in the party. We will definitely return and highly recommend this lovely venue.More

My husband and I visited 23/09. We loved the ambience, professionalism balanced with attentiveness and warmth of all the staff we met. I had the nicest burger ever and my husband was very happy with the fish and chips. Desserts were delicious too. We’d definitely...return when next on holiday. I’d highly recommend to others too.More

What a great lunch. Stopped here yesterday for a great lunch on a beautiful walk. This is an excellent restaurant. I’m tempted to call it a gastro pub because for me, that is a perfect combination and many are run by this country’s top chefs....But once inside, it doesn’t feel like a pub as the decor is contemporary and very well done. There are some really good high end restaurants back at my home of Surrey, but few as good as this. I had a wonderful scallop starter and old fashioned haddock, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce for my main. The starter was almost as good as my starter at the Gilbert Scott restaurant a couple of years ago (but this one was half the price) and the main course was wonderful. I’d love to have this place on my doorstop.More

Booked for a special occasion as we had heard rave reviews. The location was pleasant although the table looked a little tired. Waiting staff were friendly and professional but at times a little too attentive. Let diners view the extensive wine and drinks menu before...pouncing, again and again. The starters were fine, and well presented, although the soup could have been hotter. The mains again were good, excellent roast potatoes, a tasty carrot and tender and well cooked roast beef but, as diners on an adjacent table noted to the waiting staff, disappointed that there was just one slice of beef. The real stars of the meal were the desserts that were delightful and we finished off with excellent coffee. All in all a pleasant lunch but £50+ for a meal, one drink and a coffee seems a tad steep for a Sunday lunch. Would we return? Probably, but not frequently.More

Unfortunately, the food was inedible and unbelievably overpriced. We had been recommended to dine here on our holiday and we were expecting a delightful meal due to all the great reviews. I decided to ordered the pea tartlet which tasted like frozen peas on a...frozen pastry base. Then I chose the fresh tagliatelle which was unbelievably bad. I was served thick, RAW pasta that was pure stodge with a sauce that was supposed to be mushroom but was entirely garlic. There was also absolutely no seasoning, I had to douse it in salt and pepper for the only mouthful I could stomach. The service was way too intense, we had about four different waiters come up to use every few minutes and made us feel quite uncomfortable. We ended up wasting £100 here as it was too late to stop the mains by the time we’d tasted the starters. Maybe it was an off day or a new chef but the food was inexcusable. Don’t waste your money here… or at least don’t try the pasta.More

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and from our arrival the staff were all so welcoming and cheerful. The menu was interesting and every dish sounded delicious. We had a superb meal and a lovely touch was an unexpected plate of homemade marshmallows to celebrate...our anniversary. A super evening and we'd love to return.More

We chose the Duncombe Arms for our family gathering to celebrate our Silver Wedding anniversary. We could not fault our experience and can highly recommend a visit. The entire team were warm, welcoming and professional, delivering an exceptional level of service, accommodation and food. Our...evening meal for a group of 16 was exceptional and the staff were there again for breakfast with the same welcoming smile and standard. Our accommodation was newly built with all rooms individually designed to the highest standard. Thank you Sarah and the team: Superb. We’ll be back!More

Great to be back, another lovely lunch as we were passing through. It was very hot but we were accommodated very well , especially as we had our dog with us. As ever the staff were outstanding and the food delicious , in particular the...sole and lobster dish was outstanding . So sad you’re not our local! We will be back as soon as we can.More
