This is a fantastic community owned pub. Great beer on tap and lovely food. We all had the pie and chips which was first class. The staff were very attentive. Highly recommended.

What a fantastic asset to the village with post office, cafe and pub all in one. The staff were wonderful and went out of their way to be helpful. We had a light lunch which was piping hot and tasty - would recommend.

We called in for a Sunday Roast after a walk along the Thornhill trail. I had sent a booking request online, which was never answered!?! We went in there many years ago and had delicious food, so we were both looking forward to the meal....The place is now a bit odd... its a Post Office, cafe and pub. We were the only ones in the place, and we both ordered Beef Sunday Roast. The plates came and the gravy followed after.. a large stainless steel jug with literally only a spoonful of gravy in it, which my husband used, and I looked for someone to ask for more. Ages passed and so I was eating my food dry. Eventually someone came out of the kitchen and I asked for more gravy. Waited again... the beef was tough, and the veg was tepid, so when eventually the gravy jug was brought back, this time full to the top with gravy!?!, I thought well, at least it will heat my veg up... . However, the gravy was as tepid as the veg, so at this point I threw the towel in. I now know why the place was empty!! Lesson learned, shan't be going back there, anytime ever! Avoid if in the area... The Yorkshire Bridge just a little way down the road is brilliant.More

Called this morning, ordered big breakfast and a tea. Expected good large breakfast, got the poorest breakfast and most expensive on our regular Sunday rideouts. Paid £11.45 FOR a bit of bacon not even a rasher, 1 egg. 1 hash brown 1 black pudding 3...button mushrooms 2 slice of toast and small pot of tea, here's to say we will give this a wide berth picture does not tell lies.More

Delicious steak, chicken and chilli, served by very friendly staff. Lots of space indoors and very clean in the quirky interior complete with post office and piano.

What a great community pub, great food and well kept ales, very friendly and helpful staff, also serves as tea room and post office. Ate and drank three times during our stay and couldn’t fault anything. Can certainly recommend the Anglers Rest as the food...is very good value as wellMore

Visited this after a few years of not going in , its a nice laid out pub but the beer and lager is terrible. The Sheffield moonshine ale which really hard to get wrong was warm and flat and not cheap. And coke at 5...pound a pint is disgusting. Wont be going againMore
