Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Loved our visit here tonight. Such a well thought out menu and all appears to be homemade, which makes such a refreshing change! We were a party of 4 and all ordered different items (meat and tata pie/ pork loin/ ocean pie/ yorkshire pud filled...with braised beef). Difficult to pick a favourite as they well all stunning! Staff were incredibly friendly and got us seated quickly even though we showed up a lot earlier then we'd booked for. Already looking forward to our next visit.More

No walk-ins allowed, incredibly rude and dismissing stuff (including on google reviews!). My partner and I wanted some lunch (2pm) after a long hike (this being the only open food place in Bamford). We walked-in, sat down at a small table that was set with...placemats and did not have a reserved sign on it. Before ordering we let the staff know that we tried to book but we realised we did so with little notice and did not get a reply, but it was fine as we found a free/empty table anyways. Staff proceeded to tell us there were no free tables and blamed us for moving seats and reserved signs, which was bewildering to us. All just to come to the conclusion that they ran out of kitchen capacity despite having empty tables in the pub due to an event. Which would have been understable if told so nicely from the beginning instead of accusing us of stuff we didn't do. When we posted this on google reviews we got accused of being rude. But the only rude handling was done by bar stuff. So fellow hikers and locals be aware that they don't take walk-ins and staff is very rude in person and lying online. We ended up going to Yorkshire Bridge inn instead (25 min walk) which was much lovelier and more welcoming with great food. Would choose that instead every time.More

Came here on Friday night with a group of friends. Lovely atmosphere and great selection of ales behind the bar. Ordered the ocean pie which was full of tasty fish and plenty of mushy peas on the side. The jam sponge and custard was just...as scrumptious - huge portion too! The other meals served looked equally de-lish, so I'll be back to sample some more from the menu. Bar staff and waiters/waitress couldn't have been more helpful.More

We came here with family and friends for a Friday night dinner. Having not been for many years we were drawn back due to the change in chef to John Parsons who is a favourite of ours. Well we were not disappointed at all! A...table of 5 we had a mixture of mains (and starters plus side as a main) and a mixture of meat, fish and veggie. It was all delicious. Beer and wine choice were good and desert (as long as you save space) was also good. Fairly priced (unlikely to get as good food for the price in Sheffield!) And good portions (come hungry!). We will come again!! Around £16 per main £6-7 per puddingMore

The food was excellent. I had the paper salmon with a side of vegetables and it was delicate and tasty. A friend had lasagana and loved it, the fish pie was great and the pies were packed full of delicious tender meat. The staff were...attentive and very good too. All in all, a great evening and to be recommended.More

The Anglers Rest does a superb Sunday roast dinner - pork, beef, chicken or a vegan option. The Yorkshire puds are light and tasty as are the roast spuds and all in a delicious dark gravy. The place was rammed full when we got there...but the service was friendly and efficient. The green veg came in platters where we could help ourselves. There are the traditional desserts too - including sticky toffee pudding, jam roly poly.More

Holy cow, I just ate the best roast dinner that I've ever had. The Anglers achieved something I didn't think possible at a pub Sunday lunch - actually medium rare roast beef. And the assortment of sides was not only extensive (think root veg, buttered...greens, stuffing, mash, pigs in blanket, roasties and a Yorkshire pudding) but outrageously tasty. The mash potatoes had some sort of magic in it to make it taste like the nectar of the gods. The pub is community owned and it really had a sense of being a bustling hub. Plus they very tolerant of an over excited 4yo. I cannot recommend a visit enough, but it was all booked out when we arrived so best to book ahead. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu.More

Really disappointing - expected better with new chef and management. Food service was very slow (although the place was not busy) and two of our meals were tepid when they arrived, as if they had been left standing on the side. My beef sandwich was...in a bowl, swimming in gravy, and had to be eaten with a knife and fork! Food was tasty but a bit too fancy and overpriced - missing the demographic for a village pub.More

Lovely pub. Good selection of drinks. Perfect after a walk, or for lunch/dinner. Pizza was tasty and filling. Good selection of tapas sized dishes. Much better than the Yorkshire Bridge Inn. Also nice that the pub is community owned and you can really tell everyone...there is aiming to please.More
