Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This review was deleted, which proves that basically Tripadvisor is in hoc with the restaurant owners and bad reviews aren’t allowed. So here goes again- Genuinely, my worst cafe experience ever in the UK. I don’t often write reviews but was so incensed, I have...been compelled to do so. I and an friend arrived drenched and cold in this ridiculous place, where when ordering you can’t actually see the person behind the counter as they have stacked all their cakes etc on the counter blocking your view. So you basically talk to a cake and hope that the person behind can hear you. But this seems to be exactly what they want, as they clearly hate customers and wouldn’t went to look at them. In our case, the lady grunted an acknowledgment as i spoke to the cake and clearly had not been well schooled at the School of Charm. Her ridiculously over priced cakes and cup of teas was handed over the top of all the other items on the counter and then we decided that they these people were so unpleasant that we best take it outside to the seating area. After finishing, we came back in with the empty cups and packaging and asked if she could take them. Unbelievably, the angry woman behind the counter said ‘There is a bin up the hill, put in there’. Please bear in mind it was chucking it down and we looked for the bin, couldn’t find it and then came back in and put it back on the over crowded counter. At which, point the lady grunted her disapproval and we left. Do not visit this place unless you enjoy punishment and rudeness.More

We visit the cafe as a treat once a month and it never disappoints. we've now moved to chapel but the food is that good, we happily drive out of our way on a Sunday morning for a delicious breakfast. Jo and the team are...always so friendly and we always look forward to our visit.More

Extortionate prices for really basic take away food. What a disappointment! It looked so inviting from the outside but with plenty of other places to eat in the area we won’t be returning any time soon.

Really, really great! Pretty, quirky venue, buzzing with cheery local folk and dog walkers, right on some lovely walks and absolutely brill brunch menu! I’m coeliac and that was managed really nicely with lots of choice.

We were on our way home from a little trip we had been on and saw this little place on the map. We were not disappointed at all. Coffee and cakes and even a treat for our little dog. It was fantastic! We even took...some pies home for our lunch and they were amazing. (Love the bird noises in the toilet!!)More

We are holidaying in Hayfield and walked along the trail to this cafe. It was recommended by a couple we met whilst walking and also another solo walker. We were a bit early to have anything to eat so just had coffees…probably one of the...nicest coffees we have had. The food that was being brought out for other customers looked great. The staff were all helpful and the place just seemed to have a lovely and friendly atmosphere. We hope to return for more than just drinks within the week.More

Used to visit this cafe back in the nineties when mountain biking around the Hayfield area. Was great to find it still going all these years later! Brilliant and welcoming service even though we arrived near closing time, lovely food and coffee - what's not...to like?!!! Sure we'll be back soon...More

We had a very tasty lunch with two vegetarian pies plus extras like veg gravy and potato dauphinoise. Our family of four was well fed. Service was quick and the food tasty. The heart shaped shortbread biscuits and the peanut butter slice with a special...name i can't recall now were delicious treats we took home for later. We were surprised because from the outside we didn't expect much more than a sandwich or something light. But this was a hearty and tasty lunch after a walk along the Sett Valley Trail The owner was very kind and talked with us even though they were busy. Its small inside and you might feel cramped if a lot of people turn up to order for take away or to eat outside. But don't let that put you off.. The cafe sources food from nearby businesses and suppliers, so i guess it would work more for you if you like trying out what's local to a place than if you are after standard fair from big name.More
