Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped off for lunch whilst walking the Sett Valley Trail from New Mills to Hayfield, and waited a few minutes for one of the few outdoor tables (it was quite busy on a nice Sunday afternoon). There is a very wide choice of menu and our lunch was very tasty, with good portions and reasonably priced. It is worth noting that this cafe shuts at 2pm so make sure you arrive in time! My only grumble was that we were asked to take all the packaging that the food had been served in, for Covid safety reasons. I think a business should dispose of the rubbish it generates, not burden nearby bins (or worse, litter in the countryside) and a simple sack for customers to place rubbish in would not present a risk to staff.

We come here A LOT.. and it never fails to deliver the most delicious food. Today I ordered one of their picnic baskets for a birthday surprise and it is an astounding hamper- it will literally feed us for days! All homemade delights inside- chilli jam, fig jam, balsamic caramelised onions, cakes, fresh bread, delicious sandwiches, sweets, cheeses, pastries, cheese twirls, olives, sundried tomatoes, homemade delicious tiramisu... and if you can, order a bottle of prosecco- The owner has very good taste in drinks! Delicious delicious delicious..

Lovely quirky outside cafe with wooden seating just off the Srtt Valley Trail. Food menu is varied with all day breakfast and sandwiches and pies. Highly recommend the ‘ amblers breakfast’ and smoked salmon with scrambled egg and avacado. Staff really friendly and even when busy service is excellent

If you'd like an overpriced plate full of attitude then this is the place for you, was actually berated by a rude, nasty, stressed out waitress/owner for having the audacity to stand within the doorway whilst attempting to spend my hard earned money in here. We subsequently upped sticks and left as I had no intention of spending anything with these people. A zero for customer service skills, in fact a rattle snake has more charm. A nice walk ruined, if like me you prefer a friendlier service then do yourself a favour and continue walking into Hayfield and try the lovely tea room/chocolatier as you cross the road. Really poor and disappointing as we have been in the past but we will never visit again.

We called in here last Monday whilst walking the Sett Valley Trail from Hayfield to New Mills. At the half way stage (about one and a half miles) we came across this welcome café stop. We had our little dog with us and he was made very welcome. For a start, the café LOOKS wonderful with its al fresco eating area (although we noted 'awnings' in case of inclement weather). Food was excellent - I opted for something 'different' - the Middle Eastern Breakfast plus cake and coffee. My wife and I both enjoyed the food, added to the relaxing ambience of the venue and very friendly staff. The café seems to be very popular with cyclists, walkers, seniors taking a lunchtime ride out. Highly recommended. I also recommend a visit to the toilet (!) - this is also not to be missed!

What a gem this place is. Friendly staff, a warm welcome and lovely home cooked food. Quiche and salad take away box was a lunch treat. The ginger and orange tiffin ( difficult choice from so many gorgeous cakes) was the most heavenly dessert. Hidden away next to the sett valley trail it’s well worth seeking it out. I will be back again

We had a very tasty lunch with two vegetarian pies plus extras like veg gravy and potato dauphinoise. Our family of four was well fed. Service was quick and the food tasty. The heart shaped shortbread biscuits and the peanut butter slice with a special name i can't recall now were delicious treats we took home for later. We were surprised because from the outside we didn't expect much more than a sandwich or something light. But this was a hearty and tasty lunch after a walk along the Sett Valley Trail The owner was very kind and talked with us even though they were busy. Its small inside and you might feel cramped if a lot of people turn up to order for take away or to eat outside. But don't let that put you off.. The cafe sources food from nearby businesses and suppliers, so i guess it would work more for you if you like trying out what's local to a place than if you are after standard fair from big name.

This must be the best little cafe I the peaks. Wonderful food, incredible cakes and friendly service. Located on the sett valley trail it’s a perfect lunch or coffee stop off.

Characterful little cafe with a small interior eating area and a few tables al fresco but offering shelter from the rain. Close to the Sett Valley Trail walking route in the beautiful High Peak. We had “Ambler’s Breakfasts” but without beans or hash browns and they kindly substituted an extra sausage instead. The food was good, the service very friendly and prompt. It wasn’t the cheapest breakfast in the world but we thought it was great value and would definitely recommend.

What a fantastic little place hiding down a leafy lane off the main road through Birch Vale. A cosy setting to enjoy an excellent breakfast on a miserable rainy morning. Of the four of us two are vegetarian, one a bacon sandwich lover and one is known for his sweet tooth. The menu offered something for all of us. Service was friendly and calm, despite the influx of customers wanting to shelter from the rain. Would definitely recommend.

We called in one Sunday afternoon whilst out with the dog. Very busy but an excellent setup with complying to Covid-19 regulations. We had a cup of tea each and a coconut & jam slice which went down a treat. All the staff are friendly & work very hard, such a lovely place to visit, fantastic home-made food & very dog friendly. Definitely one of our favourite cafes. Give it a try you will not be disappointed.

We came across this little gem a number of years ago and promised we would stop by one day. Since our first visit we have returned many times. The food is outstanding, excellent quality and always fresh. A very good selection for vegetarians and vegans. The cakes are superb, homemade and delicious. The staff are warm, welcoming and attentive. It’s miraculous what this dedicated staff can do in such a tiny space, if you are in the Sett Valley make a stop here, you won’t regret it.

Excellent good food cafe. Leaning towards the non meat options but tasty nevertheless.Mainly outdoor seating some under cover ideal for walkers dressed for the weather on the Sett Valley Trail.

Truly the best cafe around. Jo (owner) really cares about good food so everything they make is delicious. They think of the small details that makes a cafe brilliant. Really friendly and a lovely place to stop for a cake and a brew. And toast, I really love the toast. Oh, and the pies. And the hot chocolate. I could go on...

Called in with my friend after a morning out walking Derwent /Ladybower Reservoirs. It was drizzly but we managed to get a table under a brolly ☂️ had coffees and cold drinks. We didn’t have lunch but the menu certainly looked good and all diets catered for. Would certainly return. Thanks girls 😊
