Go there, sit in the bar and enjoy the warm friendly atmosphere, whilst drooling over the lovely inviting plates of home cooked food coming out. Dogs and muddy boots are very welcome. Good menu with good old fashioned food. There were eight different real ales on tap, two of which are my favourites, Doombar and Tribute. Hickory smoked pork scratching... More

Decided to come to Castleton for our family Christmas dinner. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. Service was excellent and not obtrusive. Our young waitress was very pleasant. We all chose meals from the Christmas menu and all agreed that it was very nice and good value for money. The restaurant was busy with all tables reserved... More

We arrived in Castlton at 10:30pm for the weekend and were informed this was our best bet for food. We managed to get a takeaway pizza from Nags Head. It was absolutely wonderful. Fresh and tasty! thank you!

Good selection of beer, nice atmosphere and live music. Unfortunately the guy that served us was quite rude so we didn't stay long. The mince pies were to die for though!

This is a pub / hotel restaurant in the heart of Castleton village. We had dinner here a few times during our stay and enjoyed each visit. The restaurant is comfortable, well decorated and spacious. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is really very good indeed - nice choices on the menu and a specials board too. Good... More

We visited on a very cold Sunday afternoon after seeing Father Christmas with our young grandson and we wanted somewhere to eat. Castleton has loads of eating places of all kinds and living fairly locally we've visited them all over the years. We were enticed in to the Nags by the selection of real ales (for Grandad) chalked on a... More

we had a good Sunday roast here on Nov 6th, the pork crackling was to die for!, large portions so couldn't manage a dessert our only disappointment was the fire was not lit, and the hot mulled wine offer starts the next week will definitely go again , but in December when the streets are lit and the pubs properly... Stopped by for a drink and a snack. We had some delicious chips and two very warming pints of beer. A warm cosy atmosphere, perfectly cooked food and a very enjoyable stop-off on a cold winters day.

Having visited a couple of evenings ago for a pleasant drink in the bar and being greeted by a lovely warm welcome we thought we would give it a go for dinner. The staff were unhelpful and miserable ... a wet weekend would be a perfect description nothing like the previous evening. Nachos to start with were very nice, I... More

Visited Saturday 29th of October in late evening, ordered one of the pizza's off the menu as its quite strange for a pub to have pizza on the menu and I had seen some of the photos on here. Ended up a big disappointment, it was caked in cheese and grease, under cooked to a degree and didn't really taste any... More
