This is my second visit to this lovely place and the stunning Darley Dale.
From my phone call to my arrival I had nothing but warm welcoming and friendly bunch of people.
My wife and I went on a well deserved holiday visiting pictures Pit District.
Arriving in this lovely place we were warmly welcomed by John? the friendly Barman.
We were checked in and explained that we have room no 1. after opening the door we were delighted to see four poster bed and room overlooking the beautiful gardens. We enjoyed so much that we decided to extend our stay for one extra night.
On two nights we chose to dine in the Restaurant, 1st night we had delightful grilled plaice cooked to perfection. On the second night we were beaten by the size of the portions of the Grilled Chicken skewers.
Robert the owner does care about its place and his team, most importantly about his customers whom he greet them personally.
We will definitely be back again to enjoy the great food staff and above all the lovely friendly people of Darley Dale.

Just come back from dinner and this was the best meal so far during our week' trip to the area. Varied menu although we both had steaks, a rib-eye and a fillet. Steaks came with Onion rings, tomato, mushrooms and chips. I added a pepper sauce with mine. My fillet was fabulous, cooked perfectly and was so tender it melted. Finished with a dessert of chocolate brownie served with vanilla icecream, which was gorgeous. Other half enjoyed his rib-eye and finished his email with apple & lemon sorbet, a large ball of each served in a brandy snap basket. This is great for a lighter finish. Staff were attentive and friendly. Lots of options for draught beers and loads of gins to work through if that's your thing, from the trendy fruit flavoured to those for the more refined palate. Would definitely recommend and may well visit again for our last night meal.

We visited Barringtons for the first time on Monday whilst the 'eat out to help out' scheme was on. We both ordered steaks which were served exactly how we asked and they were delicious! Staff were also lovely and helpful which was an added bonus. We will definitely be back.

We visited here twice while we were on holiday in the area. Both times the meals were lovely and well presented. Staff are lovely and friendly. First time I had the steak which was cooked just how I had asked it and the home made chips were to die for, could of done with a few more though. Then Sunday we went for lunch and again this was really good. Big portion of meat and real gravy. Will certainly go again when in the area

Went there tonight and found a very pleasant bar/restaurant and we were attended by lovely, friendly staff. The food arrived piping hot and very tasty indeed, with excellent home cooked chips. A very pleasant place and experience. We will call again.

Me, my wife and two young sons visited on a quiet Thursday evening. The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient throughout our meal. I ordered the steak and mushroom pudding with chips, vegetables and a separate jug of gravy which was superb. My wife went for the scampi which again was excellent. The kids menu has plenty of choice and at £9 for two courses is decent value. All in all, with 2 pints of beer, soft drinks for my wife and kids and a coffee, the bill came to just over £60 which in my view is unbelievable value. Well done to the owner and staff who show that you don’t have to charge a fortune to provide good quality food and service.

Just spent a weekend here and had a great time. Barringtons is not a 5* establishment -but it doesn't set out to be - it's a comfortable, clean, friendly establishment with great food and great service.
It was interesting to see how many locals use the restaurant (and the pub!) and apparently they do the regularly. The menu is straightforward with plenty of variety and the food is very tasty - well cooked and presented. We'd certainly stay again.

Warm welcome on arrival, given keys to our room hours before check-in ! And what a gorgeous room no.5 was too !
Owners gave fabulous trip advice to fill in our days over the weekend, and provided live musical acts on Sat night, followed by an awesome meal in their dining room - full compliments to the chef & all their staff ! And Sunday night completed our stay with live music from a local brass band.
Thank you for such a fabulous weekend, we can’t wait to have some free time to come back soon.
All the locals in Darley Dale, Matlock & Bakewell, where we visited welcomed us with a friendly smile and lovely chat.

We visited here for Sunday lunch. We had 2 pate’s to start and a prawn cocktail. All good. Wine menu was good. Main course 1 lamb, 1 beef and 1 pork… again very good. Beautiful Yorkshire puddings and nice vegetables and potatoes with lovely gravy. Only let down ( which is why we gave it 4 stars) was the dessert. We had an ice cream with brandy snap basket, but the basket was so burnt it was really bitter and inedible… unfortunately despite leaving the entire basket the waiting staff did ask for feedback. Everything else was lovely so on balance I would still return!

Just eaten here, lasagne really tasty and good home cooked chips. Also came with a small side salad which was a welcome addition.
My husband had the steak and wild mushroom pudding which was also really good with gravy and choice of mash or chips, and came with a small side of veg (cauliflower, broccoli, carrot and baby sweetcorn).
Children's meal was a good size (too big for toddler but we enjoyed the leftovers!), good quality chicken goujons with choice of peas, beans or salad and the same home cooked chips.

Amazing place to eat and stay. Excellent location to explore the area Lovely hosts and staff, always happy and smiling, couldn’t do enough, very accommodating and helpful even at busy times. Delicious food. I will definitely visit again soon!

As we were staying on a Bank Holiday, we called during the day to check that the restaurant would be open in the evening. The lady who answered the phone had to check and then confirmed that the kitchen would close at 20.00 . Came down for dinner at 18.45 to be told that the kitchen had closed at 17.00. Some apology from the bar manager and the suggestion that we should take a taxi to a pub. Perhaps an indication of a poorly run business?

Excelent sunday roast (we all chose beef), beautifully served with a selection of vegetables, mash and roast potatoes and extra gravy. Plenty of beef which was cooked to perfection and plenty of it. Would have loved a desert but was too full. Lovely waiting on staff. We will be back. Highly recommend.

We ate here as a party of 10 on a Saturday evening and were impressed with the food and service. The menu is varied, so there was something for everyone's taste. The food was freshly cooked and the portions were generous. The service was friendly and attentive.

We go here with my aging parents off peak on a Weekend, the staff are always helpful and assist in getting us settled in the quieter room. Food is always well prepared and service is good.
