I had the fish which was tasty and fresh with a lovely crispy beer batter coating with chips and my partner had the home made burger ( with all the trimmings ) with chips, both were delicious ( compliments to the 👨🍳). The Wheatsheaf pub...is dog friendly, the staff are very friendly..... and when the weather allows, the view is amazing. Will definitely be returning 👍More
We had friendly service. The ale was Robinsons Unicorn, which was lovely. The pub was dog friendly. It had recently been taken over by new ownership and I could see they were making their own mark on the place. We visited after a walk on...a sunny afternoon and sat on the new and stylish comfy seats at in front of the pub and just looked at the beautiful view of the hills in the distance.More
Great find , my husband had a lovely Sunday lunch and I had home made cheese pie , super yummy. Lovely British food in a lovely old British pub. Alexia served us and she was amazing, lovely and polite and great local knowledge. The bear...was very good , as wellMore
We had fantastic poured pints, followed by amazing pies and Skewers. It was a fantastic meal for 9 people with great service all night. We were thoroughly surprised at how good everything was, topped off by the fantastic selection of puddings at the end. Would...go back again in a heartbeat. Thanks to our serving waitress and chefs for a great final night.More
Called in for meal hadn't booked but able to get a table ordered the chicken leek and bacon pie delicious 😋 wife had beef and ale pie loved it place very busy so definitely advise booking
VERY POOR SERVICE I booked for my family to visit Christmas Eve back in September , there is 5 of us so I always need to book ahead. So DISAPPOINTED the booking wasn’t registered even though several emails went back and forth and I was...told I was booked in and to bring my deposit by the week before. Fuming when I called to pay and there wasn’t a booking, she asked me to leave it with her and she would call back - she called back but I’d obviously booked somewhere else and thankfully they managed to squeeze us in at queens spice round the corner ( delicious and fab service at queens spice) She did apologise but not until she found the email thread and admitted it simply hadn’t been booked in. Massive inconvenience we had to re arrange our whole evening. Perhaps to improve your service back up your bookings.More
Great food. Our son and daughter in law loved it. We all had the Sunday Lunch. Great service and cant wait to go again. 💕
Called in for a few drinks mid bonfire night. Bought the last two sausage rolls as a take out for supper at home. First class gourmet cuisine. Sausage rolls of the highest order. Yum yum. Thanks Dave
Booked a table for after our walk. We had various tapas dishes and a meze to share. Generous tasty portions well cooked. Too stuffed for a dessert! Very friendly excellent service . Highly recommended.
Returned to this great pub, and we had a lovely Sunday roast lunch, great food, with all the trimmings, great service, really friendly and a good local Howard Town brewery pint into the bargain. Would highly recommend to all.
A small pub in a quiet area of a small town but does a great Greek meze menu. The lady owner lived in Greece for many years and her son is the chef. She's very charming and helpful and the other staff were very friendly...and efficient. There is standard pub grub on the menu but we wanted something different. The pub is in a nice spot with views of the hills and the old church. It's next to the 17th century village of Old Glossop which is very pleasant.More
We had a nice long walk starting from Glossop. Manor carp park. Heading towards the B-29 over exposed crash site. After hiking 10 miles needed food. We went in to this pub, the waitress was so nice & could do enough for us, mucky boots...& rucksack as well, they also allow dogs. Some ordered beer & some coffee the coffee were good but recommend the oatmeal beer. We all ordered food, the food was stunning so much flavour meat tender , the vegetarian burger apparently was really nice as well. We couldn't fault the food, clean plates all round, & service with a smile & so good. Will definitely go back & highly recommend other people going. Whether you do the walk or not.More
We (5 adults) arrived after a beautiful but cold windy walk. The proprietor was welcoming and friendly and we had excellent service. The food was delicious. Top notch burgers, cheese and onion pie and chilli and chorizo prawns with a side order of chips. Dog...friendly too. Highly recommend.More
My sister in law recently moved to the area so we had planned a family get together in the local pub. We were greeted rather rudely and instantly felt unwelcome when we arrived with two dogs despite checking before hand that it was dog friendly....The lady that greeted us said very abruptly ‘no one mentioned you were bringing dogs you have to add them to the booking you will have to sit in the bar area, not everyone likes dogs!’ Which made us feel like we were a huge problem. We waited an hour for food which when it finally came out was ok however I found two hairs in my meal and my husbands came out cold. I wish we had turned around and given our party of 8 business to the pub next door instead!More
