The pub was very warm and welcoming on a very cold, windy day. The barmaid (Serena) was extremely friendly and very helpful. We had a meal which was very good value for money, ( very generous portions), the food was hot and brought to our table in good time. Nothing was too much for any of the staff, from front of house to the chef. It was a very enjoyable experience, one that will not be our last. We will definitely be going back very soon. Thank you to everyone at the Anchor Inn.

We had our own corner of the pub with out dogs, and all were made to feel very welcome. The dogs were brought a bowl of water, for example. My burger, with Derbyshire black pudding, was excellent. Sometimes additions to burgers don't really go well together, but the moist black pudding was delicious on its own but moreover created something with the burger that was better than each filling combined. Robinson's Trooper on tap, first class. Very friendly service. The restaurant gave us 50% off our food, extending the government scheme into September at their expense. We tried to insist on paying full price but they would not take it. Good social distancing measures, including track & trace, floor markings, hand sanitiser.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback about your recent visit to Anchor Inn. Although I wasn’t there on the night you came , the girls told me what a pleasure it was to look after you . It’s great to hear you enjoyed your meal so much and that the Covid measures we have put in place are so worthwhile. We hope you ( and of course the dogs) can visit us again in the near future. Kind Regards.. Serena Courtney

Probably the most welcoming pub we've been to in the UK. The chef goes out of his way to create really original and tasty dishes, accommodating individual requirements in the process. As well as the excellent food, what makes the Anchor truly special is the exceptional warmth and friendliness of all the staff: from the manageress herself who brings treats to your pooch and bends over backward to make you feel welcome, to the pub staff who are super friendly. This is a pub where the staff really cares and customers are really valued. Highly recommended and a must for anyone going to Tideswell.

Booked a table for 6 for a family lunch on New Year’s eve. Service was lovely, very friendly and helpful. Food too was lovely mostly, kids pasta needed bit more sauce and unfortunately the wait of 45mins after ordering seemed a long while. We called after they had a very busy lunch service at 2pm but maybe if we’d been earlier food prep etc would’ve been quicker. Dogs & kids friendly.

Hello. Thank you for your fantastic review. I'm sorry that you had to wait so long for your food. We had some issues with our kitchen over the festive period. These issues have now been ironed out and we are most certainly back on track now. I hope to see you again soon. Rick

We visited The Anchor for food during a 5 nihht stay in Tideswell. We had been previously disappointed with other pubs in the village so decided to make the short 5 - 10 minute walk out of the village to The Anchor. We were so glad we did....the food was fantastic to say the least. Everything was cooked to perfection & good sized portions. The menu offered a good selection & the staff were friendly & welcoming. Upon completementing the chef to the waitress we were informed he is a young local lad, may i say he is real credit to you. The only negative we have is the drinks are a little pricey but overall a very enjoyable experience & we will certainly visit again next time we're in Tideswell

Stopped off one evening for a bite to eat. We hadn't been before. It was full of locals at the bar and although we were the only ones who appeared to be dining, nothing was too much trouble for the, All the customers were friendly and off duty staff were also socialising there, which says a lot. the staff and landlady were very friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed a hearty meal. My husband had the Shepherd's Pie, but I think I got the jackpot with the liver and bacon. I normally don't like the bacon with liver, but the whole dish of liver, bacon, onions and a rich gravy was superb. I can usually only eat a small meal, but are every bit of the mashed potatoes too. Just had to leave a few peas, which my husband quickly devoured. The desserts were also yummy. I had the apple pie and custard and was thrilled to find that there were still firm chunks of apple in the thickly-filled pie, instead of a sweet and sickly mush. When social mobility is once again restored, I will return.

Had a big leaving do with 50 people, food and drinks for all. The team couldn't have been more helpful with everything, making sure all our order was correct, cooking some lovely food, and always in contact with us to ensure that everything was going to run smoothly. Fabulous service, some cracking beers, and good food!! Couldn't recommend more!

Our walk had somewhat ‘overrun’ so we were delighted to hear that The Anchor was open and serving food. Given that it was about 3.30pm on a Monday afternoon in January, we couldn’t believe our luck. Upon our arrival, Serena (manager) introduced herself as the lady who had taken our call and she really looked after us, sorting our drinks and food orders. Food, (steak and ale pie and fish and chips) was excellent and timely. We left 90 minutes later, well fed, thawed out and entertained by Serena’s unique blend of professionalism and kindness. Highly recommended!

I needed a picnic lunch for 2 for a special day out and Richard at The Anchor produced an amazing hamper of mouth watering loveliness 😋😋😋 Fresh beef rolls, selection of cheeses and pickles, pork pies, scotch eggs, onion ring crisps, apples, individual summer cheesecakes and low alcohol lager. Perfect for the occasion and absolutely delicious. Thank you so much Serena and Richard.

We came here for an evening meal whilst on holiday. we had a lovely table in a separate room of the pub and found the staff to be warm, friendly and helpful. When we emailed to book, they telephoned us to go through the menu as we had a vegan and a coeliac which I thought was great customer service. The food was standard pub grub, nice but nothing to rave about. My vegan daughter had been looking forward all week to coming here and was disappointed that the dish she had her eye on was not available and was offered a vegan burger with no bun as an alternative. My husband however was very pleased that they had gluten free pudding options, which he does not normally get. The rating I am giving this pub is very much based on the lovely staff and service, the food would just be three stars.

Thank you for your feedback following your recent visit to our special little pub. I understand your daughter was disappointed that the mushroom and spinach wellington was not available that evening. It is one of our most popular choices for vegan and non vegan so sells out very quickly. It is homemade so if we run out during service we make it fresh the following day. My apologies that it wasn’t available that evening. I was however delighted to hear that your husband was pleased with our dessert choices . The staff remember your visit and said you were a pleasure to look after . They were very pleased that you felt the service was good. We hope you are safe and well and that you might visit us again sometime in the future. Kind Regards.. Serena Courtney

A friend had recommended that a few of us have dinner at this pub after our day exploring the Peak District. We were served by a friendly and warm lady, Serene, who immediately made us feel at home. She combined that warmth with a thorough knowledge of what the pub had to offer. Two of us had the burger special, the meat for which was sourced from a nearby farmer, while the other two had the roast pork, which was sourced from the local region. We also had the onion rings and salt and pepper chicken to start. They were happy to switch the sauce for the burger special on my partner's order for a regular sauce. The food was simply divine, as evidenced by the totally empty plates by the end of dinner. It was also the first ever pub dinner I had been to where they actually brought out taster beer shots to help us decide which beer to have when we were having trouble making up our minds! Very impressed with how they put the customer first. It was the best dinner I had had in a long time, which was thanks to both the quality food and the warm service.

Passed the Anchor Inn several times when staying in the area, always thought what a lovely looking pub. Decided to go in for a meal and wasn’t disappointed. Meal was plentiful, very tasty and piping hot. Good choice on the menu with homemade choices on the specials board. Staff were very friendly especially the landlady (a fellow Brummie) who was very attentive not only to us but to other diners and customers. Whole experience was excellent would definitely return and recommend.

Heading home from The Peak District to Portsmouth, after a full day paddle boarding on the peak forest canal,we needed food. It was gone 9pm and most places had stopped serving food. We pulled in to The Anchor car park under a sign that said "Food served all day". It was false hope, they had stopped serving. However, the landlady and her staff bent over backwards to make us some paella and a portion of home made salt and pepper chips. We even had the cheese cake pudding. Just what we needed before the long drive home. They could not have been nicer.
