We dined here after reading earlier reviews and were not dissapointed. We ordered steaks which were well seasoned and served with the usual trimmings and a generous portion of beef dripping chips. The steak offer for 2 was fairly priced and included a choice of...More

We enjoyed superb food, wine and beer at The Buck on two visits early in the year. We visited again this week with high expectations, but were severely disappointed. The establishment is now under new management. Some of the furniture has been changed, and rearranged...More

Unfortunately we can't be all things to everyone. We are unashamedly a village pub and this approach has more than doubled customer numbers and improved the overall atmosphere of the place. I'm pleased you noted the friendliness of our staff and the quality of your...More

Tried to phone to book table, it was off the hook all the time. Decided to make the trip anyway, their website states it is open at 17:30 on a Tuesday, arrived there at 18:40, place closed. Left an inquiry on their website, they did...More

Dear Dave. We're very sorry to have read your 'review'. As you may (or may not) have seen from other postings, we only (re)assumed management of the business fairly recently and are unfortunately still in somewhat of a transition phase vis-a-vis the updating of our...More

Very impressive food and drink menu and excellent value for money, the staff are very helpful and flexible. Dog friendly which is a great help.

We (and our customers) love to see dogs, it's a village pub after all. Regards Mark.

We visited the Buck today - a group of 14 friends and family. The food was excellent, the staff attentive and the setting beautiful. We sat in the beer garden - the bar man moved the tables together to sit us all, regularly coming back...More

Visited this pub last night because we were in the area, and had previously eaten here and really enjoyed ourselves. Whilst I would agree that the menu is not fine dining, it was excellent and well presented. We both had burgers, without the bread, and...More

We have changed the ethos of the place and operate very much as a village pub. I'm pleased that whilst noting we are not a fine dining venue we still cook really good food. Regards Mark.

Staying at nearby Solberge Hall we nipped a couple miles down the road for dinner at The Buck. We were really pleased we did. Charming staff, well-kept beer, a glowing fire and a dog friendly attitude all contributed to a successful evening but it was...More

Spent our Saturday here in a small group and couldn't fault the place. Such a nice day spent with some tasty food on top of plenty of drinks! Lovely staff too and a beautiful pub, would definitely recommend.
