Excellent country pub with both a good bar and a good restaurant. Excellent food, well presented, good selection of beers and great service.

Visited on a Saturday night. Having previously been disappointed after our last visit we wanted to give it another try because everyone seems to rave about how good it is. The restaurant is gorgeous with a great atmosphere. Staff are friendly and efficient. I just think the food is massively over priced and over hyped for what you get. Ordered... More

We called in for a bite of lunch after a short walk along Sutton Bank. I have Parkinson's and asked for my parsnip soup in a mug which makes it easier for me. The staff could not have been more helpful (believe me, this is not always the case in restaurants) and the chef sent an apology that the portion... More

previously reviewed and bears repeating: a pleasant place all round. This time, one pint plus one glass of wine came to £10.05 - outrageous.

The best place to eat and stay in the north of England, plus it's dog friendly. Me and my wife have the chateaubriand steak to share and wow it's unbelievable. Can't wait to go again

Wonderful atmosphere with an interesting and original menu but still including old favourites like fish and chips and steak pie (my choice incidentally - excellent!). . We were a party of eleven and the service was outstanding with all dishes arriving at the same time. Quite expensive, but excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

This place was recommended so we were looking forward to it. Unfortunately we were left disappointed. When you are paying £15 for a beef dinner you at least expect it to arrive hot. Ours wasn't and was sent back to the kitchen. To be fair the staff were great about it and we got fresh meals nice and hot. The... More

Been here for a number of meals previously and returned for a family meal on a Saturday night. The food was up to its usual high standard and the staff were really fantastic. The restaurant was more or less full and had a great atmosphere on a cold, dark evening. Try the steak and ale pie, you'll love it.
