This is a great choice for food, popular and busy, but comfortable, with a good atmosphere and plenty of space. Service is smart and friendly. It's a good choice for families and during our visit offered a choice of dishes for £7 each as long as you order before 6.45PM. The beer, such as Tim Taylor's Boltmaker at £3.60 a... More

Stayed on Saturday 11 February 2017 to celebrate a 40th birthday party. To cut it short the the room was lovely couldn't fault it but the breakfast was very poor. I don't eat meat so I ordered a chesse and mushroom omelette which was ok but apparently they don't do baked beans which knocked me back a bit at £165... More

Just spent two nights at this lovely pub. Our whole experience was most enjoyable. Our room was spotless and warm and contained a small settee and two chairs. The bed was large and very comfortable and the large bathroom was all we could have asked for. Another nice touch was the realistic looking log fire. The food we had was... More

This isn't a cheap place to eat but it represents excellent value for money as the food really is excellent. The atmosphere and service were good and it's especially nice to have our dog welcomed too. It is a good idea to book a table as this is a popular place. The only negative was the rudeness of the barman... More

Called in for a late lunch one Saturday afternoon just before Christmas. We have eaten here at lunch time on a couple of occasions midweek and have been pleased with both the food, service and atmosphere. However, on this Saturday there were a couple of larger family groups who clearly had no control over their offspring. The staff did not... More

Recently moved to Thirsk and had some friends staying with us and tried this for the first time. It is a restaurant rather than pub food as indicated by the price. The tables are well spaced and the ambiance is good. We all choose something different from the menu and all enjoyed what we had chosen. I was pleased there... More

We only booked this at the last minute and were told that the only menu was the supper club menu. As it turned out we could've ordered from the al-a-cart menu but we wasn't given this option. Nevertheless the food was excellent and we will definitely be going back again in the future.

Been here a couple of times before and we do like the food, location and service, but on a Saturday lunchtime it is clearly popular with families. The problem with this was there were clearly no guidelines as to what and what was not acceptable. Standing on chairs and sitting at the bar is not acceptable in my view. We... More
