Unfortunately closed down a while back. It is a fantastic and historic building in Wellingborough town centre fondly remembered by many with its minstrels gallery and beaten copper topped tables in the lounge. I do hope it reopens under new management as it is a...More

Thank-you for your review. Yes the Golden Lion is currently closed whilst the owner decides what is best to do with the beautiful building. Unfortunatley is was the massive rise in rates cost from the government that forced the closure of the Lion.

We booked here for a get-together with a largish group of freinds before Christmas. As a historic pub, well known to us as having some good live music nights despite the very small size. Menu was ok, a mix of mainly traditional homemade pub food....More

the Golden Lion is the type of pub tourists can only dream about. It's old, but delightfully furnished with atmosphere and good ale. the food is excellent and it's a good place to meet for small gatherings or large ones.

Despite being a beautiful building this pub has now priced itself out of the market on both beer (£4+ a pint) and the expensive food which really isn't as fresh or nice as it was a year ago (microwaved roast potatoes on a Sunday and...More

I am sorry you have felt you can only give a 2 star review. Our Beer prices are competitive for an independent Inn as we are not part of a large brewery chain. We are surprised at your food review as our roast potatoes are...More

As usual we end up at the Golden Lion after meetings. Nice Chilli Con Carne - missed the kidney beans though! Had a trio sorbet which was absolutely outstanding
