Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unfortunately I cant recommend this pub higher than a 3 due to my experience last night. We decided as a treat to take our friends for a bite to eat and a drink as we have many times before. Sadly last night it was so...busy the staff were obviously stressed and it showed. Being in customer services for MY job I know the first and foremost you dont show any stress to your PAYING customers. Sounded like there was a party going on and I feel they get better service above smaller paying customers. Sadly we felt that we were an inconvenience last night and we overheard the staff saying the kitchen arent coping so we decided against ordering any food and went home. No one even noticed or cared that we were leaving. Remember the little customers who support you all year round is my adviceMore

We booked the Duke for our family Christmas gathering. There were 14 adults and 5 children. I cannot thank all of the staff enough for a fabulous afternoon. Everyone’s meal was delicious, they all came out hot and very quickly so we weren’t left waiting...to start eating as can be the case with large groups. The children’s chicken roasts were very generous and they all devoured them. We had great staff looking after us, Kirsty & Elise were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. Can’t wait to return.More

Had a lovely Sunday roast here but sadly I won't be back until staff are more profesional. Lots of children are hired I can only think to keep wages low but on Sunday there was swearing, laughing, and general children messing around between customers tables....One girl that looked around 12 was heard swearing by several customers. I will come back for a meal but not on a weekend. I will come midweek while the children are at school and adults may be employedMore

Had a lovely Sunday lunch at this very nice village pub. We hadn’t visited before so not sure what to expect but was very happy with our experience. The Sunday roasts were excellent with a good choice of starters and deserts too. Pub was busy...but the service was helpful and friendly especially our waitress Gail who was very good with our small grandson too. We were also a bit late for our booking but called to let them know and the staff were very understanding and accommodating despite being very busy. I am sure we will visit again sometime.More

Called here for a birthday lunch Pros the food was as good as always Cons Lots of new staff, so the service veered between unsure to over attentive Sadly the cleanliness of the pub has dropped quite visibly, it has glass window and exposed light...bulbs as part of the decor, all showing a build up of dust and dirt where they used to gleam. Window frames and vases, salt and pepper pots all grimy.More

We came here for my partners 60th Birthday. I have to say it was one of the best Roast Dinners I have ever had. We were in a private area in the Attic and that made it so perfect for our celebration.

We regularly eat in the restaurant and usually only have positive things to say. However on this occasion one of the dishes fell short of expectations. My wife ordered the sea bass… it was the smallest piece of fish we have ever seen, that was...not a starter! In fact we could have been excused for thinking we had ordered a starter! Combined with two potato’s cubed and a tablespoon of spinach, a main meal it was not! Put this in to perspective… the steak and ale pie, pizza and lamb dish that we also ordered were fantasticMore

Our first visit to the Duke of Wellington in Stanwick. We were very impressed with the amount of different seating area's at the rear of the pub/restaurant for use. Once inside the restaurant it was very well laid out with music playing in background. We...were seated immediately and drink orders taken whilst we looked at the menu. Once ordered our starters were delivered within 10 minutes. These were delicious. We waited no more than 10 minutes for our mains. These dishes were outstanding both on presentation and taste. Staff were very kind and attentive. We booked for 4pm so there was a nice calming quiet atmosphere which suited us just fine. 5 star service so I would highly recommend a visit if you are ever in the area.More

We booked our multiple celebration in The Barns, a lovely annexe to a great establishment. Our 90 guests fitted into the space easily. Kirsty & the staff made us welcome from beginning to end. Nothing was too much trouble, including providing a buffet that catered...for a wide range of dietary needs. More than one of the party had their own plate delivered to them by staff. The bar staff provided all the drinks we needed, including Tea & Coffee, as well as assisting us with a few Birthday Surprises for some of our guests. We would certainly consider hiring this space again, and will definitely keep it on our Favourite Restaurant list. Five Stars!More

We’ve been visiting the Duke of Wellington for a couple of years now and it never disappoints. Lovely surroundings, great food and excellent service. Our last visit was however by far the best due to a staff member by the name of Christian, he was...outstanding. He was very friendly and asked us several times if we needed anything else. Popped in on Bank Hol Sunday and pre booked as 15 of us in total. We were given a lovely table in a quiet snug off the main restaurant. We had to pre order our mains which was no problem at all, and it all...got the thumbs up from all, even baby Theo’s mash potato! We all had a dessert too, and only slight complaint was the triple chocolate brownie could have been warmer, but minor gripe! Service was excellent and whole dinner was excellent including the atmosphere. Was very busy so would book at table! Will return 🙏🏻More
