About
The Butchers Arms has recently been brought back to life after being rescued by a group of enthusiastic locals. Now owned by a consortium of local villagers and investors, it has been completely refurbished, extended and remodelled. The Butchers Arms now boasts a 'modern rustic' bar, a relaxed dining area, a stylish Private Dining / Meeting room, a multi-purpose function room and a newly landscaped tiered garden. A hub for community activities, The Butchers Arms is proud to support local teams and groups, both in the venue and out in the wider community. We also love well behaved dogs and children. With access to all areas for disabled users (with the exception of the upstairs Private Dining / Meeting room) we aim to make everyone feel at home. This truly is a pub for the modern era, encompassing traditional values.

The Butchers Arms – Never fails to disappoint! The pub hosts wide variety of beers raging from IPA’s to stouts with a plethora of local and craft ales. If beer is not your tipple then there’s still a huge collection of ciders, wines and spirits, the pub is starting to dabble with cocktails as well! Where food is concerned there will always be an option for you whether you’re a fan of meat or not or completely plant based there will always be a hearty option that will be made from the freshest produce and prepared to the highest quality, taste and presentation. The pub is one the best local options for atmosphere, flavoursome food, friendly staff and decent drinks. The Butchers Arms reining far supreme to any other local option. The staff here have a clear and precise knowledge of the different characteristics and properties of the drinks on sale. Despite the young age of the workforce they’re confident to give recommendations and suggestions based on what the customer likes. In conclusion the overall experience was brilliant and we shall definitely be returning for more food and drink. The service was professional yet friendly. – Excellent atmosphere, Excellent drink, Excellent staff and Excellent food.

A friend and I visited yesterday, having last visited maybe 30 years ago!! The place has undergone a complete refurbishment and was very comfortable. Me, being a finicky eater, happened to ask about dishes that were not red meat or fish. Immediately there was a request to the chef to conjure up a chicken dish which was absolutely delicious! It was followed by poached pear with orange sorbet, which was equally as lovely!! So thank you to the very obliging and friendly staff. I have already told several people about our wonderful experience at The Butchers Arms and it will certainly not be another 30 years before I revisit!!

New to the area at the start of lock down,I visited this pub on my viewing days for the flat I now live in, unfortunately I moved on April 1st and of course then could not use this excellent venue. So now having used it as a newbie local I can reveal that I am still glad I used its existence as one of the reasons for moving to the area, food has restarted albeit with a downsized menu and available days its served on, (booking is recommended to save disappointment), tho walk ins are accepted. I have been made most welcome as a relative stranger, the food is good, tho for me the quality of the real ales on offer is just as important, and this is well above par. I do hope this pub goes from strength to strength in the coming months as I fear many of its like may not. Above all if you are ever near the area show your support and use it.

My wife and I decided to take our daughter (who is home from Uni) for Sunday Lunch. We had been to this place before and, to be fair, the service was very slow on the first occasion. The excuse then was that they had only once cook in the kitchen. Well, these things happen so we cut them some slack and the food was good. On this occasion we expected that whatever the problem had been back in September, it would have been rectified by now. Unfortunately, we were wrong. Only half the tables were occupied, yet despite this it took two hours for them to serve two courses of what was basically carvery fair. We would have loved to stay for dessert but after waiting far too long (like the other customers) for both our starters and main courses we had simply lost interest. The food was fine, but it was quite plain fair, and there are plenty of other country pubs we could have chosen. There seemed to be no Maitre D'Hotel, in fact no one acting like they had any responsibility at all. There were three people serving (across five occupied tables) and we had to ask for the bill while one of them breezed around and the other two sat and ate their dinner! It's a nice pub with such potential, but it is going to sink without trace unless the owner puts a proper manager in there.

The room we had the party in was lovely. The drinks were so expensive and the mixer was horrible just personal preference but made the whiskey tase funny. The staff who were looking after us were brilliant . This is the positives , we waited a long time for the food , my starter was nice but the main course was let’s say dry and so over cooked I had the fish pie I couldn’t eat it. We had 2 small children with us and I was horrified that the had to wait until 35 other people had been served before there food was served very wrong . The steak my granddaughter had was still mooing she’s six . The food that others had was not much better as a lot was not eaten. The stickey toffee pudding was very dry I would suspect it was microwaved . This is my first and last time at this pub not what I expected. Sorry We visited 25.01.20

I have lived in the village for almost 7 years. Since the pub was updated, refurbished and reopened, I have eaten there a dozen times and have never been disappointed. This was no exception - The Chateaubriand to share was excellent; every part of the dish from sides to sauce was perfect. This is NOT fast food. This is not a 2for1 pub so don't compare it to one. Give yourself some time to enjoy a good chef making good food. The bar area is cramped and the locals will inevitably be half-blocking the way to the restaurant, but they're a friendly bunch and are probably the owners so Big Thanks to them for not only preventing another village from losing their pub, but also for making it such a gloriously good place to enjoy local produce cooked well.

Organised my partners 40th birthday for a family get together. Charlotte was amazing throughout the planning of the day. Easy and quick communication and nothing was too much trouble. Hired the Barn for the event which is perfect for family get togethers with dart board and skittles to keep kids and grown ups entertained. Beautifully decorated and atmosphere amazing with music streamed, plenty of seating and comfy space to sit which the kids loved. Chef Stuart did us a buffet which was delicious with freshly prepared hot and cold food and sweet treats, everyone was impressed. Have been for several meals and drinks here, even had Christmas day lunch last year, and is a firm favourite for our family and this event didn't let us down. Thank you to all of the staff on Saturday, service was fab and we couldn't have asked for anymore xxx

After visiting this pub for a birthday party I will not be returning. This is the second visit to this pub and I was really hoping my experience would be different to the first time but no....the food was terrible! Mushroom tagliatelle which was congealed and lacking the mushroom part and sticky toffee pudding which had been nuked in a microwave to the point the edges were hard and burnt from overcooking! Staff in the bar were lovely and that was literally the only redeeming quality about this place!

Booked a table for 6 and were quickly offered high chairs for our 2 toddlers. The childrens meals were excellent, they had fish chips and peas and steak chips and peas! Of the adults we had 2 roast trios which was a "specail", also a lamb and our other guest enjoyed fish chips and peas. The roast dinners were particularly good and the gravy so flavoursome. We did not have a lot of room for deserts but the couple we chose were great. The staff could not have been more helpful. the facilities were also very good and we will definitely book again. Thank you.

My wife and I live in London and were looking for a 'halfway house' to meet friends from Birmingham. Butchers Arms was a brilliant find - just over an hour's drive for all of us - and we weren't disapointed. A warm and friendly greeting, a comfortable atmosphere and delightful staff made us feel very welcome. Drinks were served to perfection and the menu, though not over long, provides a wide choice and variety. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, the sign of a very professional and caring chef. When we were leaving, the chef admitted that the dish I had chosen was on the menu for the first time. I told him he had a very happy guinea pig! We shall definitely repeat the slight detour when next on the London/Birmingham route.

Excellent meal. Excellent service. Excellent atmosphere. Our steaks were both cooked pefectly and the food was so tasty. We were so pleased to have tried the local restaurance scene and to have not just gone into Milton Keynes for one of the large chain experiences. And there was a puppy in the bar area. Pub sold.

Nipped in on the hope they'd be serving food (any food) whilst on a trip out but didn't expect to find such a delicious menu! We can recommend the feather of beef and the baby back ribs. It looked so nice we tucked in too quickly to take pictures, sorry :( but it was literally melt in the mouth! So nice to find a relaxed pub that also knows how to prepare & cook meat at its best. The service was very friendly & quick and the atmosphere was lovely. Would certainly recommend!

I chose pea soup to start, creamy and delicious and tasted like peas from a freshly picked pod, then the beetroot and fig jam tart with goat cheese which was gorgeous but light. My husband went for the pork rib eye which he enjoyed. Service is just right, attentive but not intrusive. We are lucky to have the Butchers Arms as our local, it is great to pop in for a drink including on Monday nights when the woodfired pizza oven is outside and they will deliver your pizza to you in the pub. We've also hosted birthday parties there including a 21st in the function room and dinner in the restaurant to celebrate 88 years and the younger generation of the family watch all the big sporting events there.

The food is beautifully presented and delicious... credit to the chef and the kitchen staff must be acknowledged first! The smaller menu did not disappointed (due to the times we are living in) with plenty of choices and we had no concerns about the Covid situation. Waiting staff were pleasant and efficient.
