Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked this place yesterday 15-08-23 for a night out to celebrate my son’s 21st birthday. I can’t comment on the food as we walked out. We was ordering drinks and watching the chef as it’s a open kitchen. There was a number of flies...going on peoples food that was waiting to go out to customers. None of the staff even attempted to scare the flies away. The gentleman with long hair that was in the kitchen preparing food didn’t have a hairnet or hat on and was actually handling multiple food with no gloves on and was seen buy us wiping his face then straight away using his hands in food again. My mother refused to eat but we decided to stay and finish our drinks. A waitress brought over a pot of tea and a cup. As I went to pour the tea I looked in the cup. The cup was absolutely disgusting and should have been thoroughly scrubbed . The marks inside was absolutely disgusting! I really wish I had taken a photo of it. The waitress was called and offered a half hearted apology and she was actually trying not to laugh! Absolutely unacceptable. We then looked inside the teapot and inside that was filthy also. We left the tea and walked out. Thankfully we found another place to celebrate. I wouldn’t even go back if the food was free. DisgustingMore

I frequently attend this pub and every time I thoroughly enjoy myself. The food is always immaculate and waiting times for food are not long and we are always very impressed. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming and we are always greeted politely,...especially from Rob, Nate and Harry. The setting is also always very clean and tidy and overall a lovely pub for whatever the occasion.More

My wife and grandchildren went in yesterday Weds 14th Feb. Extremely poor service, when they reviewed the menu the details for food intolerances were almost non existent. My wife asked about the children’s menu and all apart from egg and chips had gluten with no...alternative. Most worrying aspect is the chef (probably not a real chef) didn’t know if the sausages were gluten free. 🤦🏼‍♂️ With so many cases of food poisoning and deaths in recent times, restaurants need to be on the ball 100%. this establishment seems to have a careless attitude. My advice is steer clear of Watling Street Village Pub if any member of your family suffers from a food allergy. I do not go there period.More

The food was fine (not great, just average), but the delivery took way way too long. As this was a lunch break, we were time conscious and arrived promptly at the time that the table was reserved. 10 minutes later we 'proactively' ordered food. When...we ordered our second drink (40 minutes after ordering food, 50 minutes after arriving) we enquired how long the food would be and were told - you're next - even so, there was a further wait. The place was about one third full, but service was inattentive and dismissive. On finally bringing our food, the waitress contradicted me on how long we had been waiting - I was right - she was wrong - but in any case she was rude. Another waitress came over a little later to ask us if everything was alright, but had already turned to walk away before we had answered! Side orders had to be chased and we were not asked whether we required anything else (sauces etc) and had to fetch these ourselves. I don't know how the staff perform in the evening when they are probably much busier, but they have not been properly trained and are clearly not 'bothered' - certainly not worth a tip. We won't come here again - there are better places nearby.More

Wow!! Great venue. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was awesome. We had a burger which was cooked to perfection. Wings which had a nice kick to them and the blue cheese sauce was a massive WIN. The Hunters chicken was out of...this world and a side of onion rings. The pornstar martini was perfect as well. Great value for money and we will be back soon. Can imagine this place being brilliant on a hot summers day.More

A super pub/restaurant. Cosy but quirky. Character and just on the high Street. Nice interior and cosy booths to sit at. They do breakfast and food but I just had a coffee today. Nice friendly staff. Value for money. Great cup of coffee. Gardens for...summer sitting and marquee. Plenty of private seating areas I other rooms. Toilets upstairs so might not suit everyone. Dogs are allowed.More

Good food and great service from some of the staff. On entering, I noticed a friend, and I was alerted by the friendly young lady behind the bar who warned me of a wasp on my shoulder. Even after my digital contactless card struggled with...the lack of signal she offered kind words and excellent customer service. The young man working behind the bar seemed on the other hand to be hating every moment of being at work. I still struggle with the 50℅ or so that are in the wrong jobs and are unwilling to leave and go and do something that would use their talents (we all have an abundance of talents). He cleared some tables but left us to clear our table, forgot to bring us cutlery, and even when he brought our food it was with a friend. I would visit again however. I just hope the young man is able to develop a smile for future customers. It's basic customer service.More

Waiting time for service for even drinks was bad. Food was poor and very late. Bacon cheeseburger had one rather of streaky bacon which was pretty much pure fat. It was a week night and full of screaming kids. I thought I was in McDonalds....Actually McDonalds burgers are better quality. Building and garden is lovely.More
