Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unique situated on the crater lake of Lake Barrine with lush tropical gardens, blooming flowers,Butterflys. There are two gigantic Kauri trees nearby. The House Looks classical though it‘s rebuild after a fire. Very nice ambiente inside. You can sit inside or on a Balkon overlooking...the lake. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The menu is a typical lunch menu because the restaurant is only open at lunchtime. The quality of Food is excellent, the coffee as well. The prices are moderate. We were very satified with our visit.More

Lovely spot on the lake. Scones were lovely, how ever would have prefered to have the jam and cream on the side not already on the scones. I found there was to much Jam for my liking but know this is very much a personal...taste thus the preference to have jam and cream on the side to select how much you would like. The major let down was they dont have Decafe Coffee. These days many people prefer decafe for health reasons or just personal preference.More

Really friendly staff, great iced coffee, amazing views over the lake. Thoroughly recommended!! Also a lovely short circular walk through the rainforest starting from the tea house.

Took a lunch time trip here as was staying in Yungaburra. The view from this tea room is fantastic, in my opinion unbeatable. I ordered what was effectively a bacon butty, bit expensive I thought for $18. What arrived though was a masterpiece. Soo much...bacon. My hubby had a bacon and egg ciabatta, $17, scrummy. Tea was bottomless too. I treated myself to some cake: orange, moist with plenty of cream. It was so delightful I didn’t want to leave.More

Looking forward to our Devonshire tea as advertised in many tourist pamphlets. After driving there found it was closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. In the short time we were there, many other car loads arrived with the same idea. I acknowledge the owners deserve time...off but perhaps updating their advertising might be a good idea!More

Tiny scone the size of half a playing card - just a rectangle with bought jam and cream on it for $7.50 per scone. No cutlery, cold, noisy, long wait time, no tables being cleared. Decent coffee.

We visited for lunch. We really enjoyed our home cooked food. So relaxing and the views are amazing. We appreciated the war history of this place. The walk on the boardwalk after lunch was just nice.

This spot is a beautiful place, don't get me wrong. I love the view and the place is quiet even with other people to. The staff are great, and they even have a kiddie corner for colouring in. However, this place is not good for...small children, nothing for little ones to eat, even though they have a kids menu. My child is 3 years old and wouldn't be able to eat the items they had. I got her scones cause I know she likes them. They were big, I should have asked for them to place the cream and jam on the side, or that should have been an option on the menu, cause of her sensory issues she couldn't eat them without getting stuff on her fingers. The scones were delicious.More

Enjoyed scones and drinks with the view over the lake. Beautiful surroundings - lake, gardens, peaceful. Fish in the lake fun to watch from the verandah.

Our small party of 5 had lunch here today and had a lovely time! Our waitress Joy made our day and kept us entertained throughout. Food was great but must say that the interactions with Joy were even greater- a definite contender for waitress of...the year! 5 starsMore

We had brunch here and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The view across the lake is very hard to beat while the teahouse itself has a real feel of yesteryear - there is even a piano that guests can play as they wait for their coffee....Near the entrance there are some interesting old photos and stories about the history of Lake Barrine and the teahouse. I was pleased to read they stopped water-skiing in this beautiful, serene spot in the 1970s. Thought the meals a bit pricier than say a main-street cafe, but I guess you are also paying for that exquisite view. We also visited on a public holiday when they add a 15% surcharge. Coffee was fine without being great, service a little slow but it was busy and given the locale we didn't mind that much.!More

We visited here 8 Sept, and bottom line upfront, it was not the best visit for the following reasons; 1. The order of scones and a hot chocolate and coffee took over 45 mins to be served 2. We ordered at least 5 mins before...the tour group/bus arrived but they took priority over our order 3. The staff forgot to bring our order of a smashed avo, after an hour I approached the counter and the cost was refunded with no issues 4. The railing and outdoor area had cobwebs and had not been cleaned for some time 5. When the cones arrived they were average at best The good points; 1. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and assisted with the refund 2. The hot chocolate was very good 3. The coffee was also nothing to write home about, just a little week in flavour Overall, it could have been a better visit for sure, heaps of potential, however, i would not drive out of my way to visit and I will also not bother going back.More

I have been going here for years and we always love the scones and cream however this time I was very disappointed. Part of the joy or scones and cream is that you make it yourself but this time it was already made up with...cream from a can. The scones were more like cake then scones and I got an ice chocolate to go with it and I wouldn’t even say it tasted like chocolate at all. A very disappointing experience. I don’t think I will be back. Which is a shame because we always loved going here.More
