A lunch with friends in McLaren Vale... what joy! I had heard great things about The Currant She'd and so my expectations were sky high. For me, reality was about vine height. The food was a good average, but nothing that I would rave about - maybe with the exception of the Pear Melba tart which came as my expectations... More

Came here for lunch on a 40c Friday. We had asked for a 'cool' table (as I have medical needs) which was accommodated. The 'shed' was sufficiently pleasant even on such a hot day. The menu reads very simply so unless you ask- you don't really know what you will get. There are no sides, breads or anything other than... More

Elegant simple surrounds with a menu laid out with no fuss enabling the waiting staff to embellish and describe. Each course punctuated by samplings of other items presented with precision and try beauty. I have always recommended D'Arrys as the number 1 place to come for the fare of the vale - and this certainly rivals anything there. Not all... More

What a wonderful food & wine experience. Local produce prepared and served with excellence. If you're looking for the best place for lunch in the McLaren vale region, this is the best in my opinion.

McLaren Vale has much to offer for food and wine buffs and it is best not to rush your time there. The Currant Shed is a case in point.... Inside but feeling like you are outside as the large windows bring the vines to you. Relaxed but with rustic sophistication, the old shed enhances the food which itself demands attention.... More

A beautiful location. Friendly and helpful staff and the most amazing food. The Currant Shed is an absolute gem. The arrival of delicious home made bread as well as other pre-lunch goodies was an unexpected treat. It was difficult to make a choice of food as everything sounded and looked delicious. The taste did not disappoint. Chocolate truffles arrived to... More

Set menu for $70 when we were there. This was 3 courses with good selection for each course using local produce. This also includes several appetisers that are not listed on the menu and that come out before your starter. This makes it into a very leisurely long lunch. Josh has a varied wine list with some local and many... More

Went for lunch out of the blue, no booking, and what a delightful surprise. The food was outstanding, the wines were from the area, and very very nice. The service was great as was the atmosphere and views. All in all a very very enjoyable lunch.

A sunny day and the shed is charming, stylish yet unpretentious. The waitress was knowledgable and efficient. The food and wine a complete delight. An octopus entree as good as anything in Greece or Spain, a peppered and barbeque veal fillet, white, tender, caramelised on the surface and tender within. In a subtle sauce ..close to perfection . The pear tart was buttery not... More
