Thankyou for a memorable lunch ! The six course tasting menu matched with wine was an ideal format to discover sublime kingfish, amazing mulloway, succulent mushrooms grown in the Lime Cave, meltish lamb, and surprising chicken with corn variation. (We never order chicken so this was a bit of a revelation !) Portion sizes were perfect for ladies so we... More

Had lunch with visitors from England. Comprehensive wine tasting to start with their sensational Mead! Followed by a stunning 3 course lunch. High quality local produce, beautifully prepared and presented. Exemplary, friendly service from a knowledgeable young man. Even lucky enough to see the 100 year old lime cave where they cultivate their own mushrooms. Fantastic day....thank you Jeremy &... More

On a Thursday it is a set menu where you choose two or three courses for a fixed amount. Really could not fault the quality or presentation of the food. The wines were good and the service was attentive ( we 4 were the only table occupied!) But ..... the serves were tiny. $55 for two courses is fine, but... More

I have eaten here before and liked it, and it is a bit of a different style now, and still very nice place. Had the 6 course option, moved through at a good pace, good amount of food, had to argue with my group which was the best course – mushrooms or pork were awesome. They grow their own mushrooms... We have been to Maxwells twice previously and enjoyed our dining experience, so much so, we elected to visit the restaurant again. The menu had changed - there was little choice. One was committed to either choosing a 3 course or a 6 course no option menu with or without selected wine. We elected the 3 course and wine. The... More

We booked for 6 people out on the undercover deck area in what was to turn our a very wintery day in spring cold, windy and very wet. The staff went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and warm and we did have shuffle into the middle a bet when the heavy rain came down. We chose... More

We hadn't been to Ellen St under the previous chef- just didn't get around to it. The tasting menu for the new chef had a lot of things that looked interesting so we decided to go. Friday lunch was reasonably full- cold day so all inside. The 6 courses were matched well with wines and the portion sizing was good.... More

This is a fantastic place for special occasions and little fancy lunches. The dishes are all beautifully decorated and taste very good. My favorite is their freshly made gnocchi fried with pine nuts and they do a really mean steak too. The servings ain't the most generous and it's a bit pricey. Great service and view overall. Will definitely come... More

This restaurant is a must if you love the food you find in top restaurants in Europe then you will not be disappointed in the food at Maxwell's Ellen Street. We were losing hope and missing the food of Europe when this morning we discovered this restaurant mentioned in Trip Advisor. Chef Fabian produced a beautiful 3 course degustation delight... More
