Nice place and fantastic seal dinner. Probably some of the best meat (and preparation) I have ever tasted. Well worth a try.

Mary-Ann's Polarriggen has a fantastic selection of food, which you should expect in Svalbard. Our dining plans changed drastically during our stay in Longyearbyen after visiting Mary-Ann's the first time. We decided to try it a couple of times. The ambiance is very special in every room. During the polar day or polar night it is great to sit in... More

Had the whale beef an it was really good. The klippfisk was a little bit dry. Sale carpaccio was not in our taste. Pancake desert wunderful. Good service.

The restaurant is linked to Mary Ann's Polarrigg and from the outside, you wouldn't be the first one to assume the place was closed down and no longer in use. It has a very secluded arctic restaurant feel to it and the location- the slightly off the main central town track -further supports that assumption. When you step inside, you... More

I didn't stay here, but I went by it twice in a vehicle. The path from lodgings to town is through an industrial area or via bridge over creek bed. In a very unattractive area of town. So as far as location, it's not in a good spot.

First thing when inside, Svalbard's good manners, must take off your shoes and either wear croggers (there are many pairs to borrow) or bring your own (we had our own tent mules by The North Face). Vintergarten is very nice, glass ceiling and outside wall (must be beautiful during aurora borealis time). Many animal trophies inside (polar bears, arctic foxes,... More

Good quality food, healthy, interesting local meat on the menu (eg: seal), reasonable quantity served, service is good, price is survivable. Their online menu however is just decoration, in reality the choice varies day to day and is maybe 1-3 starter, 3-6 main dishes, 1-2 dessert. No Thai on menu at all. This entry and Vintergarden are the same restaurant.

We walked over the bridge from the main "town", which left us a bit cold (it was -12 outside). However, once inside, we quickly warmed up. The interior decor, and indeed the whole concept, is unusual. Svalbard has a long history of trapping, so no surprise there are so many trophies around. Most of the rooms and corridors are made...
