We stopped here for lunch after exploring the shops of Holt and so glad we did. Warm, welcoming environment , very spacious and the staff were great. Particularly the waiter that looks free us throughout, we had our 1 year old with us and he...was great with her . She was totally fascinated by him and he made time for her which helped us relax and feel much more comfortable. Would highly recommend The Kings Head to families with young children 😀 Our food was lovely too, we have the fish burger and pork/chorizo burger, both of which were delicious and we didn't have to wait long either which was once again great as little one didn't get fed up waiting. Thankyou Kings Head, we hope to return soon!More

I have visited the Kings Head twice in the last month (before and after a trip abroad). The first time the barman was in the adjoining bar talking to someone, not serving him drinks (looking in a paper together) while three of us waited to...be served. When he did serve it was very slow and lacked eye contact/ cursory engagement. Later that visit I came back into the bar to order food ( we were sitting outside) and the barman had been replaced by two young women who could not have been nicer: friendly, efficient and professional. Yesterday evening we went to the KH for a drink and had the same desultory service from a barman. We have just bought a property in the centre of Holt but will try the Feathers next time. The KH is a nice pub but is being let down by some of its staff.More

Great pub in the centre of Holt. Very friendly staff and dog friendly. Good menu with lots of options. Bit nervous about the attention to detail on dietary needs as my vegan meal was served with non vegan coleslaw always a little worrying as it...makes you unsure what else was missed. However overall food was good and the ambience was great.More

Came into this pub on a whim. Asked for a high chair, was accommodated brilliant by a male member of staff. We sat down in a quiet corner, and ordered a couple of drinks and cheesy fries, which were delicious! We also asked whether staff...could heat up our babies food and could be given some hot water to heat up a bottle; no issues arose, staff were more than happy to help. Overall was a pleasant experience for me and my partner. They also have a delicious looking menu on offer, I recommend coming to have a look!More

Visited this afternoon on a lovely warm day. Decided we would sit outside and so got a table in the beer garden. I went into the bar area, it was not ever so busy. A couple of fellas were at the bar being served, a...lady was also waiting to be served. I stood back from them (social distancing and all that)… Initially there was 1 fella serving he was eventually joined by another barman. The second barman asked who was next and it was the lady who was ahead of me. Another fella walked in and stood at the bar also waiting to be served. God know what the first fella serving was doing but he took an age for 4 drinks, I could have watched the film Cocktail including all the credits and directors cut quicker than he made 4 drinks. The lady who was served then left, that left me, standing directly in front of the second barman, 3 feet away. He proceeded to serve the fella who had only just walked in, he did not even acknowledge me. I presume the fella who had just walked was a mate as they chatted as he got his drinks. Now I’m 6’4” and not easy to miss and I pointed out I was there way before the fella who he was serving, his reply was that “he was standing closest to the bar!” Now I don’t normally get wound up about this kind of stuff and if he had just said sorry, what can I get you or you’re next then all would have been ok. But as I was directly in front of him, it was a complete kop-out. I cannot abide sloppy bar people who never look up let alone ones who are shoddy and serve friends first and screw everyone else. It’s not like the place was even busy, there was just us. So I walked out and I will never go back, which is a shame as it’s our first visit and we spend a lot of time in Holt. I’ve run a pub, he would not have lasted 1 night with me. Shoddy.More

Had arrived at our accommodation in Holt and decided to go for a look around. Kings Head is an attractive looking pub with spacious internal environment, good spacious outside area also. They were busy serving food which looked very appealing, we may as yet still...go back to eat. Dog friendly areas. Very friendly staff.More

We booked this hotel because the hotel our friends were staying in was fully booked. We could not have done better. In the event it turned out to be much better accommodation than the ' upmarket ' hotel our friends were in near Wiverton The...Kings Head hotel does not have many rooms, but ours was spacious, and whilst not ostentatious, it was decorated and furnished very well for our needs. Whilst there are no parking facilities, we did not find it a problem overnight, as the road directly opposite had parking available from 5pm until 9am the following morning, and places were plentiful. There is also a car park within walking distance that is very reasonably priced. Now for the really wow factor. Breakfast is not served in the hotel, but a short distance across the road in another hotel. Byfords. you will be given a voucher each which entitles you to have whatever is on the breakfast menu and double if you need. The food was outstanding. A full English to die for. The staff here could not be more attentive and pleasant. As were the staff in the Kings Head, and here a mention is needed for Sarah and Giles. Both were the most helpful and polite staff you could hope to meet. Its a definite return trip for us.More
