We just love this restaurant! The food is exquisite every time and the service is the right side of absolutely fantastic. The team make it look seamless to dish up many different curries at the same time and then will check that you are enjoying it.
12 of us ate there last night and nothing was too much trouble for them. A few months ago over 20 of us celebrated my 40th and I could not believe the way they were able to keep up with our huge order, many drinks and still run the restaurant on a busy Saturday night.
I eat out a lot, and this is without a doubt the best Indian restaurant I have ever visited.
Finally, try the Keralan fish curry - it was the first time I'd tried it and I do not think I will ever be able to order a different dish, I want to go again tonight :)
Well done those guys, outstanding.

My wife and her sister had dined here a few weeks earlier and were very impressed with the quality of the food and the service. On this recommendation eight of us dined here last night with high expectations and we were not disappointed. Well presented wonderfully flavoursome food and great staff will be back again when we are next in Felixstowe. Thank you Blue Naan top marks!

Have been to Blue Naan a few times of late but have not reviewed however i have found the time on this occasion to contribute a worthy compliment. The food, Massala, Phall and especially the Naga Chicken were fantastic, I really like the little attention to detail such as the crispy onions on top of the rice, Onion Bhajis good, Keema, Honey & Chilli Naans excellent. As always the service and personal welcome from Johnny and his team is always spot on despite a very busy restaurant, Will be returning again soon as they are producing the best Indian food and service in Felixstowe at present.

I really don't know what happened last night. Since reopening I have been to this restaurant 4 or 5 times with various groups of friends and family but something has changed. Perhaps the chef has left or perhaps he was ill? All I know is that the quality of the food has drastically changed. It took longer than usual to arrive which I didn't have a problem with as it was a busy Saturday night but we received it around 45 minutes after our popadums. However the bhajis were soft and greasy, the rice was heavy and stodgy, my lamb bhuna didn't have the same fresh, tastiness it had last time and the children's chicken tikka biryanis were awful. They looked nothing like last time! They consisted of flavourless chicken and sauce with pilau rice dumped on top. Only the sag aloo was up to standard. I asked our waiter at the end of the night if they have changed chef and he said he didn't know and would say something. We didn't hear anything else after that, so paid our bill and left feeling a bit confused and very disappointed. I am quite fussy but this restaurant has been genuinely awesome recently and I thought I'd found a real golden nugget I could rely on for years to come. Alas, perhaps not.

Hi,
I am really sorry to have read this review which is naturally very disappointing, and I would like to address each of the issues you have raised.
I can assure you our Chef is still with us and he was equally discouraged by your words. I can only assume that you spoke with one of out part-time staff who would have been less clear as they are weekend waiting staff only? I do wish he had bought this comment to my attention or a full-timer as we would have been able to respond to your concerns and had the opportunity to listen to your comments and resolve the concern/complaint on the night.
I do actually remember your table with your children, it was a very busy Saturday night and I believe I apologised to you personally for the delay in your meal arriving. With regards to the Biryani, these are now layered so the rice was a layer as oppose to just being placed on the top. This is the more traditional way of serving a Biryani so that would have been why this dish looked unlike previous visits.
With regards to the rest of your meal, I am sorry that you felt it was flavourless and lacking our normal standard. After the event, all I can do is ask that you email me directly at info@bluenaan.co.uk as I would like the opportunity to rectify your experience.
It was a very hectic service and whilst I take on board all your comments, we did not have any other issues or complaints on the night. You mention that you felt you had found a real gem so I do hope you make contact and allow us to rectify the experience.
Regards,
Johnny Hussain (Owner)

Very disappointing visit. I’m trying a keto diet at the moment (very low carbs) and decided to try it with the Blue naan. They
have a banquet menu available Sunday-Thursday, £20 all you can eat. As I’m not eating rice, naan etc I wanted the all you can’t eat to try foods I wouldn’t normally get (I.e. panaar fusion, Butter chicken).
Service was immediately slow, but it was busy. After talking to three waiters, another comes over to say as it’s busy with the help out eat out it may take awhile with the food if you go with the banquet menu. I say that’s fine, we’re not in a rush and we’re not looking to order a millions dishes because it’s “all you can eat”, I want it so I can try a couple of different dishes.
Well after that service was pretty much non existent. It took another 20minutes just to get someone to order the starters. The starters when ordered came out in quick, less than 10 minutes. This theme carried on for the rest of the meal. To get another drink or order any more food, the service was just non existent. The times from taking the order was fine it just took so long for anyone to serve us
It felt like because we had gone with the banquet menu then service was no longer given. We eventually got our food and the food you can’t fault, it was good. The general feeling was we were looked as not paying enough customers. I saw two tables come after us who were constantly given service and both their mains came out before our starters. We ordered probably on the low scale on “an all you can eat”. Bill came to £50 (£50 for them with the government scheme, £30 for us for the eat out help out).
The food is good so I give it 2 stars, it’s always been good in the past but service today was terrible and I just can’t understand why. Takayama we went the night before had been 5 stars

Firstly, please accept my apologies, you clearly had an unacceptable experience and I would like to address the issues you have raised.
The Banquet Menu takes a lot longer to prepare because of the number of dishes per table which is why this is normally only available Sunday to Thursday. We do not offer this on Friday & Saturday evenings as it is impossible to operate a smooth service with the Banquet at the weekends when the restaurant is fully booked.
To be honest, the Government Campaign (Monday – Wednesday) has really taken off and we are now inundated with bookings for the whole of August, so as of next week, the Banquet Menu will not running during the Government Scheme Nights; it will still be available on the Sunday and Thursday so I do hope you come back on one of these evenings.
As with yourself, we did try to advise all of customers against ordering from this Menu as we could see the issues unfolding but I totally understand you wanted to try out a selection of dishes for your diet but because the majority of tables did go with the A La Carte Option, I can only assume once you had decided to stick with the Banquet, the waiters did not notice this Menu on the table and unfortunately you just got overlooked.
It most certainly would not have had anything to do with your spend, many people ordering from the A La Carte Menu were spending less than £20 per head, the same price as the Banquet, so please rest assured, this was definitely not the case.
It was purely down to human error on a very busy service but this is not an excuse, merely an explanation.
It is clear that the Banquet Menu is unworkable on these government scheme nights so we have addressed this immediately as we wouldn’t want this experience repeated.
On a brighter note, I am glad you enjoyed your food and please do come and see us again and hopefully next time you will give us a 5-star.
Kind regards
Johnny Hussain (Owner)

I last went here a fair few years ago, back then it was nothing special, all dishes tasted the same and were a bit bland, I put off going there again because of that, but now though, although I think some dishes are well overpriced, like the naga one I had, at almost £13 it was double what similar dishes are, and it wasn't very spicy either.
However, it was all cooked very well, and did indeed taste of naga, the chicken was bordering on the dry overcooked side, but it still had flavour to it, the garlic rice was spot on for flavour, not too strong or too weak, the portion could have been a bit bigger, and the Tarka Daal was a bit too runny and could have done with a bit more garlic.
I did feel a bit hassled with someone coming over every few minutes to see if there's anything else we would like, pushing for more drinks, and that's not an over statement, we must have been asked at least 10 times by different people while trying to eat our meals and socialise, if it wasn't for that hassle I would have marked the service higher, in general it was very good, but their system needs to be better to ensure customers don't feel hassled, more than 10 times is a bit much, unless that's their plan for upselling? if it is, it backfired with me.
The bhajis and naan were nice and light, and were cooked spot on.
In general I would say the rest of the food quality was hit and miss, and should have been better for the price, although the flavour was good in a couple of things, I've had better elsewhere at a much cheaper price, and larger portions.

Me and my partner had an amazing late lunch at the blue naan today. Such good value for money excellent staff we chatted to Johnny about Indian food and the menu for ages. The food was good portion sizes and excellent flavour the narn bread was to die for (peshwari narn). Having travelled around India and eaten in the east end and west end of London this food is up there with some of the best we Would recommend this restaurant highly We shall be back.

Booked as this restaurant is extremely busy , the menu is great because its fusion and something new to try. It also has all the staples biriani korma madras masala. The rice choice is a pleasant difference.
The restaurant isn't accessible as there's a big step in.
The decoration is classy, very clean. Staff attentive and they clean tables between each course.
3 people poppadoms pickles main courses 3 side dishes 2 rice and drinks £87.00 good value.
When asked for water, we received individual glasses and one for each of us which was very good.

Chicken Naga......
Love a hot curry, this is hot but that doesn't take away from the superb spice blend. What a flavoursome curry. With friends ate off the £20 eat what you choose menu which keeps coming as long as you can keep eating. Everything fresh and beautifully cooked. The owner, Johnny chatted with us at the end of the meal. Lovely chap and guided me towards his YouTube channel Fusion Inspired. Had a go at the Naga when I got home Johnny, not bad, but not as good as yours. If I'm down your way again, yours will be the first restaurant I'll be back to. Keep up the good work

Had a fantastic meal at the Blue Naan whilst visiting Felixstowe on holiday. The restaurant is a great blend of traditional Indian styles with a modern twist, and at the moment has everything in place to comply with all Covid-19 guidelines.
All the staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was amazing, with both our mains taken from the Fusion menu, after some recommendations from Johnny, the restaurant owner.
Johnny is clearly very passionate about his business, from helping his staff serving food, to spending time with each table of customers.
Thank you for our meal, if we lived locally you'd be seeing us every week!

Have eaten here several times before and have always had 5 star quality food and service. Last night for the first time we opted for the takeaway delivery service. Absolutely first class from ordering to delivery. Food arrived within specified time all piping hot and delicious 😋.
Well done guy's. Highly recommended.

Mediocre food that went cold quickly. Lots of attentive staff tripping over each other rushing around. None of the staff were welcoming and made us both feel uncomfortable , not a pleasant experience. Table was right next to a private door that the staff constantly used so saw more of the door than I would have liked, very badly placed table. It looked as if they has tried to cram in as many tables as they could.
I ordered vegetation Korma but there was no meat substitute, just lots of veg swimming in a curry sauce, pretty unappetising. My suggestion to manager is that there are many meat substitutes available, no need to give the customer veg and charge meat prices.
I definitely wouldn't recommend this place for the welcome and we won't be going back again.

Our first visit this evening to Blue Naan and couldn’t have been more impressed. One of us has some food intolerances and Johnny ( who turns out to be the owner/manager) made it his business to explain all the ingredients and advise accordingly. Incredibly knowledgable,
He made sure that we were completely happy and when the food came, it was nothing short of superb. We have eaten at all the famous London Indian restaurants, Trishna, Gymkhana and the Cinnamon Club and the quality of the food is right up there with them. Excellent service from all the staff and fabulous seating areas in the restaurant underlined what was a really good night out and tremendous value for money. We cannot wait to return again and can give this an absolute 5 star plus rating!

We moved from London a few years ago where the food quality and choice is amazing. We have been missing that wow factor and boy did Blue Naan deliver this evening.
The lamb Rendang melted in the mouth and was extremely tasty. I have allergies and the owner himself oversaw and -I believe- cooked my meal especially for me; with instructions as to something mild to medium with chicken he put a very tasty dish together. My allergy is onion and garlic and rather than just taking them out he thought carefully about replacement "flavour" which many restaurants dont do and I was very impressed with his consideration and attention to detail.
We both had a dessert which was the familiar option choices based around ice cream (and the ubiquitous Punky for the kids).
Lets move on to the drinks. Much has been said about the owner's recent decision to become an alcohol free establishment. The drink options were lengthy and the variety well thought through. I started with a blackberry smash which was stunning. It had a little kick to it. My second mocktail I had a mojito. Honestly it tasted as if there was real rum in it and was quite heady but lovely. My partner's Espresso Martini apparently tasted like the "real thing" too.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes good food. Please don't be put off by the fact that it is a dry establishment. There are a wide variety of non alcoholic drinks from wines to beers to mocktails (both readymade and fresh) which are definitely worth trying.
The atmosphere was lovely and it was nice to sit in a restaurant where people were happily chatting and laughing without the sometimes a little to raucous behaviour that alcohol can trigger.
The bill arrived and we did our usual "guess the cost" and were quite a way off and very pleasantly surprised.
Let the food speak for itself and try the mocktails! 😊

The food here is of good quality although the portions are on the smaller side. The service is also good. I can therefore see why this eatery has attracted some good reviews. For me, the downside is the prices. A chicken dansak costs £10.50 plus coconut rice £4.50 and roti at £7.00 for two. In comparison with other Indian restaurants this is definitely at the pricier end. As a consequence, it is unlikely that I would return here when there are other less pricier options locally available.
