Really nice food, clean and friendly pub. Very welcoming to our small dog, even gave him a cold sausage! Only one small gripe - cold plate for the hot fish! Fish was delicious however, and didn’t last long anyway! It might benefit from some quiet...ambiance music or something, not many guests here today and it was a bit devoid of atmosphere! All in all, nice village pub and we’d come again!More

Just got back from an overnight stay in Snape at the Golden Keys. Quiet, well situated pub, ample car parking. Great little get away, will be going back! Chilled out location, nice staff, good breakfast and well situated for walks and surrounding towns especially Aldeburgh.

We stayed here for an evening as a stop over and could not have been more pleased with communication, welcome and room size. Moreover, the quality of the food and table service was spot on. The cod (both battered and pan fried) was beautiful and...cooked to perfection. Samphire was young and fresh. Don't usually leave reviews, but these guys deserve it.More

Four of us walked here and had lunch last Sunday. The Adnams bitter was absolutely excellent. It had a light hoppy nose that developed further whilst drinking it, was very well flavoured and not particularly strong (we had to walk back!) So we all had...a second pint which is something we don't always do at lunchtime. The food was excellent. The four of us had four different dishes and they were all very good indeed. Some of our party habitually eat only the best bits and leave anything that they are not particularly keen on. At the Golden Key everybody ate everything. Service was friendly, informal and efficient. Nothing to fault. The pub was not particularly busy – certainly less so than I would have expected on a Sunday with decent weather and with the quality of the food and beer being offered. Perhaps it's because it's a little off the main drag or maybe it's because folk try to eat/drink beside the shopping honeypot of Snape Maltings which is a few hundred metres away. Anyway, their loss because the Golden Key is definitely worth searching out.More

We rather lucked in here ! It was on our walking route and looked ok so we booked and really were not expecting the excellent dishes we were served especially the fish.Cod with wild garlic and samphire, some fish and chips with a batter that crunched...and great chips, smoked haddock that bought a smile to a cynical foodie and of course great beer.A friendly bar maid accompanied it all.I was pleased to see the chef at the bar afterwards and to be able tell him what a great meal we had had.More

A great pub with excellent menu choices. Dog friendly, easy parking. Spoilt for choice with the menu options. Filling and tasty, no room for dessert so can’t review that!

Stopped here during our walk and ordered carrot and ginger soup. Unfortunately the "chef" had added so much ground ginger it was burning hot, rather than giving a mellow warmth to the carrots as you'd expect. Also, the ground spice hadn't been cooked out resulting...in a raw flavour - perhaps the "chef" doesn't know about this necessary step with spices, but they clearly hadn't tasted their concoction! I was unable to eat mine, even though I enjoy some spicy food. My husband waded through his but the burning in his mouth made it a an unpleasant struggle and he regretted it. I ate my tiny amount of ciabatta, tough and oily and not the right bread for soup. We didn't waste time saying anything and left (I bought a takeaway sausage roll from a kiosk at the Maltings) but if the management reads this review perhaps they'll suggest that if that soup appears on the menu again they either add a heat warning or make it properly.More

Dear b00kwrm, Apologies if our homemade soup was too spicy for your taste. We have ensured that our next batch is milder! Our soup is served with sourdough bread that is made locally by an award-winning company and this is the first time we have...More

Having stumbled across this little gem while trying to find somewhere to stay for a short Spring break in the Aldeburgh area my partner and I spent 3 wonderful days here. The Staff were very welcoming/friendly indeed and nothing was too much trouble for them...during our stay - we were very sad to leave this morning having enjoyed every minute of our stay here. This beautiful little country pub is nestled in the beautiful and quiet village of Snape with great views across the marshes towards The Maltings, which is a mere 10 minutes walk away, Our room was very clean, nicely quirky, spacious and had a great 'country' feel to it - the en-suite bathroom was large and clean with good facilities too! Breakfast was delicious each day, whether it was a full English or something lighter and evening meals were a joy too - their sea bream is definitely a 'must' to enjoy! There's plenty of on-site parking too! All-in-all, if you're looking for a quiet country pub with character, charm, gorgeous location and great Staff then look no further because you've now found it just like we did - we will return there this year without any doubt! Enjoy! Graham and PatMore

We spent 4 nights at the Golden Key which is located in a very quiet setting, walking distance from Snape Maltings and within short driving distances from some very picturesque areas. The room was large, clean and comfortable (one piece of feedback - lighting could...be a bit brighter). Everyone on the team was incredibly friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. The portions are generous, and for a non-meat eater there is plenty of choice, not just an afterthought vegetarian option as is so often the case. The reason for deciding to stay here was very much influenced by the menu and it more than lived up the expectations.More
