A fantastic, old world, low-ceilinged, log fired, lively pub - great beer, very well kept - highly sociable bar and atmosphere - not a fruit machine in sight - yippee

The Nelson was recommended as the best pub in Southwold for Adnams beers. Small pub, full of character, old world charm and good beer of course!

We enjoyed lunch with friends at the 'Nely' and were lucky enough to obtain a table in this popular pub. For Adnams fans this is heaven ! There is a great menu and staff are happy to advise on any allergens in the food which was helpful for a member of our party. The table and bar service were excellent... More

Have been here many years ago. Really busy on 'Boxing Day', staff very friendly. Had to sit in the garden as no space inside - shame the patio heater wasn't working. Had burger and chips - seemed a little over priced. And one of the two burgers we ordered had double the amount of chips! However it was delicious and... More

A proper pub, lots of Adnams ales and a good pub grub menu at reasonable prices. Nice ambience and usually pretty crowded which probably says it all. A nice place to meet greet and eat.

A lovely pub across the road from where our seafront rental was. Lovely low ceilings and atmosphere. Great scampi and Adnans refreshments! Friendly staff and dog friendly if that is important to you. Going back tonight for a few drinks and maybe dinner. That would be the third time this week! Recommend it.

Lovely warm fire greets you on entrance - to get the best atmosphere try to avoid the weekends when the returning second home owners return - it gets to be quite a crush - so you can't quite appreciate the pub if you are there as a first time visitor! There is an immense amout of memorabilia in the pub... More

How can you not love this pub ? Everything a pub should be. December with roaring log fire, cosy atmosphere and slightly cliquey. Locals are probably a bit fed up of visitors coming in and rightly so. Slightly mardy young barmaid but it's the atmosphere you go for and that was fabulous.

Very busy on a Friday - we wanted to eat and were worried that we'd not manage a table. There is no booking system and securing a table was a matter of hovering ie no queuing system. We were told by someone they'd always managed to get a table within 20 minutes and, amazingly, so did we. Quick food service.... More
