We visited the Ash Tree Inn for the first time for Fathers Day today. We’ve been struggling to find a decent roast - that can beat my husbands at home (former head chef). Well - we’ve found it and were thrilled with our experience today....It’s a bustling cosy pub with ample parking and a lovely beer garden. As soon as we came in we were greeted with a smile and I expected to have a slow service meal just by how busy it was. How wrong I was. We were served quickly with drinks, orders taken and food all arrived in good time, with smiles, beautiful presentation and steaming hot. My husband had the mixed roast, I had the sirloin beef roast, kids shared a chicken roast with cauliflower cheese. Everything was really really tasty and beautiful. The beef in particular - cooked to perfection and melt in the mouth. Yummy gravy and crisp delicious roasties and veg. Not forgetting the fab Yorkshire Pudding. We normally skip puds, but we couldn’t resist. The kids ice creams, brownie & Eton mess were so lush we’re glad we had second stomachs. It was seriously such a fab afternoon and I almost don’t want to share incase they become over subscribed. But this is a pub that deserves a shout out and to do well. Thanks for a lovely meal.More

Overpriced and very poor slow service - staff were nice - food was expensive - it wasn't a gourmet experience - although they charged like it was - I had a lamb chop on mashed potato and uncooked beans - £25!! - it's a joke....My friend ordered ham egg and chips- the chef thought it was good enough to break on egg cook it hard and serve it - the meal was returned and not reordered - where's the pride - one meal arrived 45 minutes after the first - we were a party of 14 - if you want a starter try there prawn cocktail a joke served on a plate for a start ! Prawns on a lettuce leaf at £8.00 - this pub has got delusions of value - although the hanging baskets are lovely !More

I have to say that I’ve been going to this pub for nearly 20 years and I’ve never had a bad meal - lunch and dinners- friends couples large parties. I have just read a post from a Sophezmug regarding her “severe allergy “ to...nuts - I have to say if anyone has a severe allergy to anything they call the place they wish to visit ahead of arriving and most places, as does the ash will make arrangements to accommodate your allergies And dietary needs. To just turn up to any place if you have such a severe allergy as you stated in your comment is ridiculous- I can’t stress enough that in all the years I’ve been going there they will and can accommodate everyone’s needs.More

Food was outstanding and service from all staff was friendly and efficient. The chef came to the table at the end of the evening and asked if everything was to our liking ( which it was ) will definitely be visiting again. Dan and Nat...I believe are the landlord and landlady who were also very friendly and accommodating.More

Had a look online for the menu and found their website online to check due to my peanut allergy and the menu had nothing with nuts or peanuts stated. Luckily I was given a menu with the specials on (my partner was not) which stated...that there were peanuts in the starters. I disclosed my allergy to peanuts and upon returning from the kitchen was told they could not guarantee cross contamination and asked how severe was my allergy as they could TRY to make something safely but that it was up to me, the allergy sufferer, to take the risk. We decided obviously to not eat (bearing in mind I am also pregnant) and went to pay for drinks. However I was shocked when they then told my partner (not myself the allergy sufferer) that the chef likes to cook with peanuts and that there were, in fact, open bags of peanuts on the side of the kitchen counters!! Any peanut or nut allergy sufferers do not eat here.More

Met up with a couple of friends, for pre booked lunch, (good idea as it was busy). Good pint of Harvey's on draught. We looked at the concise Sunday lunch menu, mackerel pate was super. We all had roasts served outside and they were all...very good and tasty. Staff very helpful. Lovely setting in a rural area, will visit again. Would recommend.More

yes, the pub is very dog friendly. it's still a proper country pub, not a restaurant disguised as a pub! dogs welcome throughout the pub.
