Christmas lunch for our walking group

There were 21 of us, such a number is always something of a challenge for kitchen and waiting staff but the team at Sackville Bistro had it all under control! Menu offered 4 choices for each course, very well balanced and varied - traditional, vegetarian,...lighter, heavy. We pre-ordered our meals which made for fast, slick and friendly food service as we were ID'd by name. Food was excellent, generous portions, served hot and beautifully presented; my roast turkey was amongst the best I've ever had in a restaurant. A festive atmosphere without being OTT. A great success.More

Good pre-show venue for the De La Warr

Went here for a meal before a gig at the De La Warr down the road. Was impressed with the place as soon as we walked in, decor was nice and the lady who served us was lovely. For a starter I had the fried...courgettes. They were battered and crispy on the outside with the courgettes still juicy in the middle and the aioli they were served with went really well. The batter was reminiscent of what you might expect to find on fish, it was crispy and fluffy on the inside. It could have done with some seasoning though, and I used a lot of salt and pepper to make it palatable. I then had the chickpea and pepper burger. Not something I’d usually order, but it was crispy and spiced up in all the right ways. All the accompaniments were fresh and the bun was nice and toasty. The fries were really well seasoned as well. It was only after this that our visit went a little down hill. It was a bit busier by this juncture, but not busy enough to warrant taking 20 minutes to clear our plates and offer us a dessert menu. At one point I even made eye contact and waved at one of the waitresses in the hope she’d come over. She smiled and waved back before walking in the opposite direction. When we were given the dessert menus and ordered the crumble was very warming and comforting. However, my crumble had 2 shards of plastic within which weren’t very pleasant to bite in to and find. These things happen I suppose, but it’s not what I expect from a restaurant. I would have pointed this out to the serving team, but we needed to head on to our gig so we paid at the bar and left. I’d have no qualms about coming back again if I was going to another gig, but make sure to be wary of time if you want anything more than just a main.More

Dinner with friends ~ very lovely

Unbelievably, considering I eat out a lot and live locally, this was my first time here, for dinner with 3 friends that recommended we come. A beautifully decorated restaurant inside, impeccable service. The terrace outside will be lovely when the weather behaves. Our party chose...the hanging chicken skewers, wild boar and apple sausages and the chicken pie. All beautifully cooked and presented, with a selection of rosemary fries, mashed potato, salads or veg. We cleared our plates. Chocolate brownie and the caramel apple crumble were our desserts. Again, really really tasty. Staff were friendly and efficient. Parking is ample, either very reasonable or free after 6pm. Fab venue, great chef and our nxt group get together has already been agreed to be there. Carvery menu looks good too. Keep doing what you're doing. It's fab! Thank youMore

Good but ……

Great but could be better. Went for Sunday carvery and the choice of meat and veg was great as was the meat portion size. The only issue was the temperature of the vegetables which were generally not warm at all. The potatoes, stuffing and yorkshires...were fine but just not the veg. Could definitely be better.More

Great experience

We have been here several times and have always had a brilliant experience. The food is excellent and hot which makes a change! The manageress in particular I take my hat off to as she is so in control under so much stress. The staff...are very friendly and obliging. Would definitely recommend if you want a delicious Sunday lunchMore

Doesn't fail in food standard.

My grandchildren opt for this restaurant for a Sunday carvery whenever they are asked .Today was no exception. Food lovely,staff great but today other diners lack of respect marred it. We were eating when a group of older people grouped together (I think to pay)close...to our table. They leant on the back of my grandsons chair then on another of our family,they both moved their chairs in but they moved and continued to use it. A member of staff noticed and asked them very politely to move away they did but we later learnt they complained about the staff member.i want to ensure that this member of staff knows that we appreciated her intervention and she was very polite to them. We were compensated,( we didn't ask) so thank you. Without doubt we will return.More

Perfect lunch

We visited the Sackville Bistro today for lunch and could not have had a better experience. We were seated on the terrace to enjoy the sunshine and the seaview. The service was very good and attentive. In particular our waitress Jess made some excellent recommendations...and was very helpful with the wine list and menu. I ordered the Tomahawk steak special, which was amazing, a real treat. My wife had a perfectly cooked Hake dish, and we followed up with delicious desserts. I cannot rate our visit more highly. We will be back!!More

Need to be more transparent about ingredients

Food was lovely, HOWEVER... why is sweetcorn not mentioned as an ingredient. Ordered chickpea and red pepper burger, lots of other things mentioned but not sweetcorn, of which there was quite alot.

Lovely place. Slow service

Love this place, so nice outside on a summer evening,lovely food but so slow after seating to get a drink. We like to go out , have a drink to review the menu, not do it all at once. Went this evening, after sitting there...about 15 mins on a pre booked table, had to go inside to order drinks because no one came to ask. Definitely need more staff but understand that employing staff is not always easy. This is not the first time and we will be there again.More

Great food but terrible service.

Along with three friends we went for the Sunday carvery which was excellent with a great choice of meat and large portions (we had a slice of each of the meats on offer) we waited over 30 minutes for everyone to get a drink. Such...a shame as we have always had such good service in the past.More

Amazing lunch

We had an amazing lunch yesterday- the staff were all friendly and attentive and the food delicious and reasonably priced. I recommend the halloumi burger - absolutely delicious

Lovely restaurant in bexhill

A lovely restaurant! Had a great lunch! Beautiful ambience- sat outside - very friendly and attentive staff! Eve recommended the chicken and a delicious desert! Would definitely return with friends and family .

Great food, great service

Good food, varied enough to have something for everyone, small enough to trust it's all done well! All the meals are fresh and tasty and reasonably priced. Some of my favourites include the brioche garlic bread, slow cooked pork belly and I also often choose...the fish of the day which has never disappointed! I have been here many times with friends, family, out of towners... we love the terrace and the staff are always friendly and helpful. One of the best in Bexhill.More

Amazing, tasty 👅 highly recommended

Myself, wife, 6 and 4 year old went today for a Sunday lunch. This was the best roast dinner I’ve had out in a very long time. From arriving at the restaurant the layout is perfect and very modern. All of the staff were super...friendly and made my kids feel very welcome. We had puddings for afters and these were good sizes and very tasty. As mentioned all the staff worked very hard with no one lazing about. Two member of the team who stood out to us were, our waiter Florrie and one of the kitchen staff Jamie. So thank you guys very happy customers and would highly recommend this place.More

family lunch celebration at Sunday carvery .

Sunday carvery great value good quality food, excellent service. Went for family celebration and thoroughly enjoyed. Staff were so helpful and pleasant especially Dexter and Molly . Convenient spot by the sea with plenty of parking.Will definitely br back.
