Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The food is lovely as are the staff they are great the only reason this didn’t get a 5 is the veg with the roast… small dish to share with couple we got one price of broccoli each 2 tiny pieces of carrot and red...cabbage along with the roast potatoes, 1 price of broccoli??😳 sorry that’s stingy!More

There are three dining areas in this historic 16th century Inn: the traditional restaurant, the bar and the newish brasserie at the rear. All offer the same menu but a different ambience. We ate in the traditional restaurant and had an excellent lunch: rolled pork...belly (£18.75) and the roast cod loin (£19.50) with all the trimmings, followed by the walnut tart. Good service, historic setting, and reasonable prices considering the quality of the food.More

We used to live in Mayfield and went here all the time, we have never found a better place to eat so we thought we would come back for my mums 70th and it's even better. The food is exceptional, hand made, excellent quality and...fabulous service, they even held the door open for us when we left. It really does shine above anywhere else in the area. Well done!More

This was our first visit since the pandemic. Regretfully, got out of the habit. Realised what we had been missing. Simply the best. Still highly recommend.

This is a lovely pub, in a very nice historic area. The food and service is second to non and the views are beautiful. Would highly recomend the roast dinner and would definitely say the best in East Sussex!

During a recent visit to east Sussex we visited the Middle House twice for dinner. Once was a larger family visit and the other a smaller family visit. This excellent restaurant just gets better and better. The menu is extensive and the staff are outstanding....the layout is such that you can experience the warmth of a village hostelry and hotel and at the same same enjoy a special occasion in one of the restaurant alcoves. There is privacy, atmosphere, fine dining and a warm welcome regardless of the time of day. By a long way our favourite Sussex eating place.More

I'm sorry I have no idea but I didn't see any dogs. As the restaurant and eating area within the pub has an open plan layout, perhaps not, but call them to make sure.

I would imagine they do, It would be best to contact them direct to confirm this. I would think that if you had a specific dietary requifrement they would cater for this.
